5-Star Hotels in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan

This hotel in Kyoto’s Higashiyama district blends Japanese charm with modern luxury. My room was spacious, clean, and comfy, with a great bed and soaking tub. The staff were friendly and helpful, arranging my private onsen and offering a free shuttle to Kyoto Station (20 minutes away). It’s near Higashiyama Station and Gion, yet peaceful. Breakfast was delicious—Japanese and Western options—and the tea-themed onsen was a highlight. The gym’s solid, but I loved the garden more. It’s not central, but the shuttle compensates. Parking’s 2,000 yen/night. A luxurious, authentic gem—9/10, I’d stay again!

This hotel is super conveniently located, just around the corner from the Keihan Line exit. Plus, there's direct access to Takashimaya on the 3rd floor, which is great for shopping. The room size is impressive for a Japanese hotel, easily comparable to a standard hotel room back home. It's also very creatively designed and comfortable. The hotel really focuses on eco-friendliness, and the lobby atrium is stunning, creating a lovely atmosphere. However, this is also the biggest drawback. Our room was on the 5th floor, directly opposite the elevators. Because of the atrium, we had to walk all the way around the entire building's corridor to get to our room...

Facilities: The hotel is well-equipped with amenities such as a gym, laundry room, and ice machines, though they are a bit on the smaller side. The rooms are quite spacious, and the bathrooms even feature separate wet and dry areas. However, the corner room I chose required a bit of a walk to get to. Service: The staff were very friendly and attentive, upholding the high standards typical of service in Kyoto. A late check-out until 12 PM was a nice bonus. Location: The location is average. There's a Karasuma Subway Station nearby, which you typically need to use for transfers when exploring the city. For everyday essentials and conveniences, there's a supermarket, Starbucks, and Blue Bottle Coffee all close by. However, finding a decent restaurant after 7:30 PM requires a bit of a walk.

This hotel really captures the essence of Kyoto. There's a small garden in the inner courtyard, and the hidden door designs between different sections of the hotel are quite interesting and uniquely Japanese. The hotel has a lounge offering coffee, tea, and snacks, and you can also try out little games like origami. The tableware in both the lounge and the rooms is very refined and distinctly Japanese. The hotel also has its own onsen (hot spring bath) that guests can use for free, and it stays open quite late. Breakfast is good, a combination of Japanese and Western buffet styles. Plus, the hotel is very close to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, within walking distance.

I was extremely satisfied with my stay, and the service was excellent. While there was some kind of pump or utility hub just outside the window, making it too noisy to open for fresh air, the floor-to-ceiling windows offered a beautiful view. Moreover, the room became perfectly quiet once the windows were closed. The room itself was very spacious, and I particularly appreciated the design of the large mirror in the vanity area.

Very delightful experience. When we arrived, the staff (a short hair lady) showed her professional services and sweet smile. I felt taken care of a lot. She also did a quick room tour for us, which was very considerate. We ordered the suite. Very big and good view with the garden. Extremely clean and smelt good. Every entrance has a security door so it felt really guaranteed. Very friendly to introverts 😂We came for my husband’s bday so I left a msg mentioning about this while booking. They carefully noticed it and printed a card for him. The bday cake we ordered is also amazing. I have to say this hotel is really top quality and top service with top comfort. However if you are looking for more experiences like swimming pool or luxurious view of the old capital, it may not be your best choice. We are here to chill and enjoy the private vibe only!

Upon check-in, there was a staff member in the lobby who spoke Chinese. When checking out, a young woman helped me retrieve my stored luggage and even carried it to my car. She had already asked for my car number beforehand and came to the waiting area to notify me when the car arrived. I regret not catching her name. The hotel also offers a free shuttle bus to and from Kyoto Station daily. Although my stay was mostly arranged for an event and I only extended it by one day, they didn't make me switch rooms. I think their service is excellent.

A very satisfactory choice. Travel with parents and stayed four nights and royal park. Located near to subway kalasuma station, a good choice to explore Kyoto. Room is spacious compared to most of hotels in Kyoto, also is clean and quiet. Impressed by the breakfast where you can choose set menu between Japanese and American styles. Delicate dishes. It has a lounge where you can enjoy afternoon teas and happy hour. The public bath is a must go-to place after a long way during the day.

The hotel boasts an excellent location and is instantly captivating. Choosing Kawaramachi for your Kyoto trip is definitely a smart decision. This charming hotel, a stylish conversion of a former school building, features a spacious lawn downstairs. Blue Bottle Coffee is also conveniently located within the hotel premises. The subway, Takashimaya department store, and the Kamo River are all just a stone's throw away. Upon arrival, it felt both wonderfully novel and oddly familiar, as if we had stepped into the tranquil world of a Ghibli film... It was exceptionally clean and remarkably peaceful ❤️. The hotel's attention to detail is impressive, and the staff, particularly the Japanese ladies, were incredibly thoughtful.
