Honestly, visiting China and not climbing the Wall would be a crime. We chose this option because it was logistically convenient. We went during the May holidays and were terrified – we thought we'd be jostling endlessly, but it was quite bearable (except for the sleigh ride – that was crowded and there were real traffic jams at the Bakugan itself). Also keep in mind that the Great Wall of China is much more vertical than horizontal – be prepared to literally climb some steps! But overall, we walked the entire thing in just a few hours with our two children, ages 9 and 13. The views from the wall are stunning!

This one of the seven wonders is definitely worth visiting and I can not believe I can now say that I have been oat the Great Wall of China. This place has a breathtaking view with good scenery. The bus shuttle went smooth and the cable car went fast with the chance to have the view of the Great Wall of China when going up and down. I would recommend 1000% but be prepared to get tired because the steps can be really steep and high hahah

A must-see. We took a taxi from our hotel to the wall, about an hour and a half each way. We arrived at 8 a.m., and there weren't many people there. I recommend visiting in the morning. The QR code works great. Allow a couple of hours for the location.

Jinshanling is located in Chengde, about a 2.5-hour drive from Dongzhimen in Beijing. Perhaps because of its distance, visiting on National Day (October 1st) meant fewer crowds, allowing you to avoid the throngs. The Great Wall scenery is magnificent, and the weather was clear and cloudless that day, making it exceptionally beautiful. The ticket, including round-trip transportation, park entrance, shuttle bus, and cable car, is very reasonably priced at ¥198. Arriving at 10:30 AM and returning at 4:00 PM, there was ample time for sightseeing, making it highly recommended.

The drive takes about 2 hours, and there's a cable car that goes directly up. There are two routes, east and west. The east route is the most scenic and is suitable for experienced hikers; the west route is relatively gentle and is suitable for the elderly, children, and those with limited time.

I've traveled a lot in my life, but the wall... WOW! The service was excellent: Pickup from the bus station and drop-off at the wall parking lot (+ return). Not very touristy. The 4-hour walk is recommended so you have time to enjoy it, take photos, and return (well in advance) to the bus.

We chose to only visit the wall, without entering the Gubei water city. Bus #51 took us to the Gubei entrance in 1.5 hours without transfers - 6 yuan. The ticket price includes a shuttle to the wall itself. It departs from the ticket office located to the left of the Gubei entrance. The wall is divided into eastern and western sections. Towers 1 through 10 are open to visitors. We walked up a path with beautiful views for photos to the 2nd tower (40 minutes), and then to the 8th (1.5 hours). The steps are of varying height and width in places, and there are some dilapidated sections - you need to walk very carefully. While we were at the 8th tower, it started raining. We didn't have the strength to go back down to the 2nd tower, and it was dangerous, so we took the cable car (130th). The views of the mountains, towns, reservoir, and the Simatai section itself are stunning! Required: sports shoes, comfortable clothing, and water.

The Simatai section of the Great Wall of China is simply amazing! It's much more atmospheric and authentic than the more popular sections: the wall has retained its historical spirit, there are far fewer tourists, and the views of the mountains and water are simply fantastic. The climb is steep in places, so you'll need to stretch, but every step was worth it. And the zipline descent over the lake was a special thrill! After a long walk, flying to the other side with the wind is pure adrenaline and offers a fantastic view. It's a thrill, a perfect combination of history, beautiful nature, and a touch of extreme adventure. I definitely recommend this place!
