This place is unreal! It's so beautiful and breathtaking! We took the train there and back for 18 yuan; a taxi would have been much more expensive. It's cold and windy near the wall itself, but very hot on the wall. We took the lift up and walked down because everything was already closed. But we didn't regret the descent at all. There weren't many people, especially in the evening. I think there were more people during the morning session. It rains in Beijing in the evenings, so it's worth bringing an umbrella. The wall itself leaves an incredible impression. It's very beautiful and majestic.

Booking this shuttle package made visiting the Mutianyu Great Wall really easy. It included the return shuttle from Beijing, the internal shuttle, entry tickets, and a two-way cable car, so everything was well organised. The tour guide waited at the Starbucks meeting point and explained everything clearly. The last shuttle back to Beijing leaves at 5pm, but if you finish exploring earlier, you can head back to the meeting point and take an earlier bus if seats are available, which was very convenient.One thing to note is that the cable car and chairlift (cable lift) are different. If you’re planning to take the famous toboggan slide down, don’t book the cable car package—just buy the chairlift ticket on the day instead. If you want to experience both the cable car and the chairlift/slide, you can do that too by purchasing the additional ticket. Overall, it was a smooth, hassle-free experience and great value for money.

Spend the time & go a bit further! Yes, it will take you longer to get to this part of the wall, but it is so beautiful & worth it. It’s never crowded & if you have a nice camera you will get great pics here. I wish I was a photographer just I just had my old phone. You can watch the wall stretch for miles here. I have been here twice & always enjoy it. No crowds, just pretty & peaceful views all year long. Even when all of the plants are dead/brown like in my pics.

At first it was a bit confusing how to go up to the Great Wall and what the options are. There's a cable car if you don't want to hike it. I took the cable car up and hiked to level 5, hiked down to level 2 and Ziplined to the bottom, I highly recommend this if you want to try ziplining, super fun and not super fast. Just sounds fast and speeds up closer to the bottom. The staff were happy to have a customer when I went on a quiet day. I also went up at night and purchased a round trip cable car ticket, allowed me to take it up around 6pm, then I hiked from level 5 to 8, waited for the sun to set and the solar powered lights to come one. It was gorgeous...until the bugs came out 😅 I then was able to hike down from level 8 to the path to take me back to the cable car. I love the Great Wall. So grateful China has made this palace accessible and convenient. I'll definitely return to Simatai Great Wall and Gubei Watertown 😍💗
