"This hotel features sea facing suites. You can hear the waves as the beach is just 10-20 meters in front of the hotel. Service and cleanliness is great. I booked a studio room for 3 nights but they upgraded me to a 2 room apartment (although they kept 1 room locked). Very much appreciated since I get a room with balcony and living area. No daily housekeeping but that’s fine. Furnishings and amenities in the room is well maintained."

There's durian nearby, a big supermarket right across the street, and a mall, so you can buy anything you need. The views are great, and the hotel breakfast is delicious too. This is my second time staying here, it's definitely the best value-for-money hotel in Penang."

"Stayed here for 3 nights. The apartment is spacious and generally comfortable, but the building is starting to show its age and some facilities feel a bit dated. The biggest downside is the elevators, which can be extremely slow during busy periods and sometimes require a long wait. That said, the experience was greatly improved by the operator, Uptrend Home Management. Their team was very responsive on WhatsApp, replied quickly to enquiries, and kindly arranged an early check-in for us, which was much appreciated after our journey. Their customer service was professional and helpful throughout the stay. Overall, while the building itself could benefit from some upgrades, the excellent management and support from Uptrend Home Management made the stay pleasant."

"Overall, the rooms are quite spacious and comfortable, with balconies offering views of both sunrise and sunset. I booked two rooms; my friend's room had a sunrise view, while mine had a sunset view. My first booking was on a weekend, and the breakfast experience wasn't great due to the large number of guests – many items ran out before they could be refilled. However, for my second stay, I chose a weekday (Monday to Friday), and the experience was much better. I booked for five consecutive days, and the hotel gave me two complimentary breakfast vouchers. The breakfast selection was quite rich, and the staff were patient and could communicate in both Mandarin and English. The rooms also had some smart features, which is quite good for the local area. I had staff clean my room daily, and overall, I'd give it a 9 out of 10. The cleaning staff were very responsible, but perhaps the cleanliness standards didn't quite meet our personal expectations."

"For our anniversary trip to Penang, I contacted the hotel in advance via email. They arranged anniversary decorations, gifted us a cake, and upgraded our room, which made us feel very cared for and warm. The hotel's location is excellent, right in the heart of George Town, within walking distance to all the nearby attractions. Breakfast was abundant with a wide variety of choices. Upon check-in, we received two 10 MYR vouchers for use within the hotel, which could be combined. We used them for room service, which was very convenient. Choosing The Wembley was the best decision of our Penang trip. I'll definitely choose to stay here again on future visits to Penang and will recommend it to others too."

"The Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion (also known as The Blue Mansion) boasts an excellent location in George Town's historic district. Right across the street are the Clan Jetties, and there are countless historical buildings nearby, making it incredibly convenient for exploring. What truly stands out is the hotel staff; they are exceptionally polite and attentive. The hotel itself is an old heritage building, so the facilities are a little dated, but they are very well-maintained. The rooms are cleaned immaculately every day, and the breakfast offers a wide variety of choices to suit most tastes. For this area, it offers fantastic value for money."

Regarding the facilities, I need to pay by my own self for the car parking service. They are charging RM 24 per day and I am staying for 4 days 3 nights. Do you think how much I need to pay for the car parking which they never stated that visitors or customers need to paying by ourselves. I hope that in the future, please stated very clearly that we need to paying by ourselves without inform us.

After seeing many recommendations for this hotel across various platforms, I chose it. It's a Chinese-friendly hotel, which is great because the power outlets are universal and don't require an adapter. The room comes with complimentary bottled water. Although the room isn't large, it's impeccably clean, and the window offers a direct view of the ocean. It's very quiet at night, ensuring a good sleep. There's a large shopping mall right next door with a Watsons, and it's also very close to Durian Street, making it super convenient for enjoying durian.

Let me start with the location. -a little bit far from the center, had to drive around 5-10 mins to reach nearest 7e. forget about the other attractions, it needs more than 30 mins from the hotel. Staff. -i dont know but i feel like not helpful enough. they could’ve done better for the so called “5 stars” hotel wannabe. Cleanliness. -well it was clean BUT! right when we entered the room we saw the notice of the charlie ants. we were so scared to touch the floor with bare foot as i lost count on how much we had seen and managed to kill the insects on our own! Buffet. -was ok, not the best. many verities to choose from. well at least they tried. Facilities. -they won this time. my only complaint was the insects on the floor and walls of the toilet.

Lone Pine, Penang, a Tribute Portfolio Resort

Stayed at Lone Pine Hotel recently and loved my ground‑floor sea‑facing room. Super clean, comfy, and literally steps from the beach though it is fenced up to demarcate the hotel's grounds. Parking was easy, and the whole area is convenient — hawker stalls, beach bars, and convenience stores all within a short walk. Breakfast buffet was solid too, with a nice mix of local and Western stuff. Great way to start the day. Only complaint? The 3rd party water sports guys clutter the beachfront with equipment, and an excavator on the sand ruins the sea view. There was also an excavator parked on the beach, doing who‑knows‑what, which disrupted the otherwise serene beachfront setting. Despite these external issues, Lone Pine itself delivers a comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable stay. I would return — hopefully with a clearer sea view next time.

The hotel is located in the old town, on a small street surrounded by tea houses and durian stalls, which was really convenient for food. Most of the hotel staff were Indian. Our room wasn't cleaned by 3 PM, so we called the front desk and also prompted the cleaners in the hallway. We only needed fresh towels and trash emptied, but it still took an hour and a half for them to come. The service was quite slow.

The room is as pictured however the soundproof is poor and overall in room cleanliness need improvement. We were locked out from one of our room due to the door lock not functioning, it took some time for them to unlock. Hotel management need to put in more effort for regular room conditions check up. Public areas and facilities requires better maintenance especially after rain, spa (fully booked) and shuttle service need more consideration to accommodate in house guest needs. Food and beverages from in house restaurants are acceptable, the cooling station is very helpful in this hot and humid weather. Their staffs are friendly and try their best to assist.

How do I put this? I looked at so many beachfront hotels when planning a few relaxing days by the sea in Penang, and almost none of them seemed perfect. The photos looked good, but reviews often mentioned they were old or that the sea wasn't great. I booked this Parkroyal after much deliberation, canceling my previous bookings at Shangri-La and Hard Rock. I had a good impression of the Parkroyal from my previous stay in Langkawi, so I booked a family room here, hoping for more comfort. Perhaps my expectations were too high. When I arrived, it was okay, but not amazing. However, there was a lovely Chinese lady who greeted the kids with welcome drinks, which immediately brightened my impression. But then, once in the room, I found the sliding door wouldn't close. I called for help right away, but after a long wait, no one came. Since there were monkeys and insects outside, not being able to close the door was really uncomfortable – I couldn't even go out for a walk. I went downstairs myself to the front desk, and still had to wait for maintenance to come fix it. I honestly couldn't understand why there was a gap in the door; it seemed impossible. I ended up having to use a lot of force to get the door closed myself. On the bright side, the room provided a generous amount of drinking water. Also, the sunset was truly beautiful, visible right from the balcony. And I didn't hear the mosque's morning call to prayer, unlike on a certain Indonesian island where it started at 4 AM. There are two pools: one is 1.5 meters deep and open until 9 PM, but since I don't swim, the lifeguard wouldn't let my child in. The other is 1 meter deep with a slide, where my child could play safely even if I didn't get in. My daughter didn't want to get out until they closed the pool. I didn't go on the swing because I saw grass and was worried about insects. Conveniently, there are Starbucks, 7-Eleven, Coffee Bean, Bora Bora, Japanese restaurants, and Coco Nana nearby, so dining options are plentiful. Overall, aside from the little mishap with the balcony door, everything else was satisfactory.

I was a bit hesitant after seeing the reviews, but I booked this hotel for convenience, and my stay was surprisingly great with no complaints. First off, check-in was seamless, the room was clean, and the facilities were quite new. Housekeeping was excellent every day; if I requested cleaning before leaving, the room was usually spotless when I returned. One afternoon, I overslept and missed housekeeping, but the next morning, a staff member from housekeeping came to ask if I wanted my room cleaned. 😄 Regarding transport and food, there aren't many dining options directly around the hotel, but getting around Malaysia relies heavily on ride-sharing, so I wasn't worried about transportation or food inconvenience at all. Plus, food delivery is quite convenient; if you don't want to go out or eat at the hotel, delivery usually arrives within half an hour. The gym and yoga room aren't huge, but they're perfectly adequate, and the equipment is new. I went every day and rarely encountered anyone else there.

On a business trip to Penang, I'd stayed here before and chose this hotel again. The location is excellent, about a 30-minute drive from Penang International Airport. There are plenty of restaurants, supermarkets, and shopping malls nearby, and it's not far from the Street Art area. The front desk is on the 20th floor; the staff are friendly, and there's a comfortable business and lounge area. The room amenities are comprehensive and clean. This time, I noticed they added a water dispenser, which is eco-friendly and convenient for guests from different countries, offering warm, hot, and iced water. Breakfast on the 21st floor isn't extensive but decent. There's also a good cafe right opposite the hotel with nice breakfast options. Overall, a great experience. I'll choose this hotel again next time.

The room was quite spacious, but it was incredibly noisy at night. Our room, 1207, faced the street, and the sound of motorcycle engines was very loud, making it difficult to sleep. The air conditioning in the master bedroom and the exhaust fan in the bathroom were also very noisy; you could hear a clear difference in a video I took when they were on and off. Sleeping with the AC on was too loud, but sleeping with just the fan was too hot, and combined with the noise from the motorcycles outside, I really didn't get good rest. I tried to change rooms, but was told they were fully booked, so I had to stay there for three nights. Since it's an apartment, there was no bottled water. The bathroom only had a single, very basic all-in-one shower gel/shampoo. You'll need to bring your own toothpaste and other toiletries, so keep that in mind if you're planning to stay here.
