The location is convenient for visiting morning markets, night markets, and durian stalls. It's a bit far to walk into George Town, so taking a taxi is the best option.
The bedding and towels are clean and comfortable.
The renovation smell varies among the three rooms, it's a matter of luck. The room my parents stayed in had a strong, eye-stinging smell when they first entered, but it became less noticeable after ventilation and air conditioning.
The sink in the hallway had severe backflow and a terrible smell, so we basically didn't use it. We kept the stopper in and let it soak to block the odor.
They don't clean the room unless you specifically ask the front desk. A deposit is required, and since we didn't have Malaysian Ringgit, we paid in RMB. Check-out was very slow, as they needed to inspect the room. When we checked out early in the morning, we were the only ones, and it took half an hour to complete the whole process for three rooms.
In Malaysia, people typically go barefoot indoors, so no slippers are provided. If you don't like that, you'll need to bring your own.
Location is good, right in the centre & within walking distance to eateries & shopping. Close nearby there’s the Hin Depot, it’s like a weekend flea market.
Hotel Service was great, the room that i booked was rather small, city view facing but sun was strong and day time, was abit hot as room window facing the sun. Going green is good, and water dispenser is provided on every floor for our refill. Can i suggest the bottles provided to have a wider opening as when refilling was rather difficult to avoid any spillage, especially taking the hot water
Hotel deco is very festive.
Environment: The facilities are very new, and the bedding is good too.
Service: The front desk service is excellent, with staff on duty at night, which is convenient for check-in and check-out.
Location: Convenient, with many dining options nearby.
Transportation: It's located in George Town, a bit far from the Old Town on foot (but fine if you like walking). You can take the bus, but you have to wait 😓. Ride-sharing apps like Grab are convenient.
Security: There's security, and the elevator requires a key card, so it's quite safe.
Hygiene: For an apartment hotel, it's exceptionally good. Free daily cleaning is offered, but you need to inform the front desk.
Swimming Pool: Very good, many families with children were playing there.
View from the apartment was amazing and just need to look through the window and you see the blue sky and ocean. Just that the apartment they gave us has 3 rooms and if you book 2 rooms they will locked up the one of the room. The issue is that when we checked in they just let the 3rd room open and we thought we could used it until the security guard came and knock the door and said he has to lock up one of the rooms.
This hotel is new so all the guest rooms are well appointed and fitted. There is access to a private beach , however it is small . If you know your way around you can actually walk from the main road to the public stretch of Tanjung Bungah beach which is a much nicer beachfront. Each room has a balcony, with sea view , a plus at such location. The carpark is free at the moment , however , due to low ceiling room and many pillars , it becomes hard for bigger cars to park. The pool was very busy when I was there so I didn’t get to enjoy the pool area. There is a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner so it is good that you don’t have to go out to find food. I would think the staff services are a hit and miss , some are friendly and professional , some of them really do need training. I notice is there is only one counter open during checkout time which had to cater for both check in and checkout , this causes a queue . Overall, I love the comfortable rooms and bed, however the front office counter staff needs training.
The hotel staff were all very friendly and accommodating, even with my limited English, we managed to communicate just fine 😂. The location is excellent, with several great street food stalls nearby that serve delicious food! The scenery is also beautiful, though the panoramic window was a bit dirty. I suggest giving it a good clean so guests can enjoy an even better view.
I only stayed one night. The hotel has a nice view and is on a high floor. Breakfast was quite good. The bathroom only had a shower, no handheld showerhead. Even with all the lights on, the room was still very dim, which felt a bit off. Overall, the hygiene was good. The hotel's location is excellent, and the service attitude was good.
I’ve stayed at this hotel a few years ago. As it was an impromptu solo trip, it is the hotel I remembered for its location, being flanked by Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon. I also discovered it is within 10 minutes walk to my favourite Hokkien Mee stall at Pulau Tikus.
Arrived at the hotel around 10am. So was quite pleased I was given a room way before check in time. The welcome ice cream scoop was delightful. Room was spacious and functional. In-room fridge had some free soft drinks so that was quite a surprise. Very big and spacious shower stall in the bathroom which was great for me.
Had a look at the roof top pool. There’s a small indoor function room next to it. Suitable for small events… view was great!
Overall, a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was comfortable and well maintained. The only minor issues were that the door was a bit difficult to push open and there was a small amount of dust in the corner of the room.
The food was good, although the variety could be improved slightly. The gym and pool facilities were both very good and well kept. Aside from these small details, everything else was perfect. I would happily recommend this hotel.
The snack selection 🧺 was great 👍, and it's a 5-minute walk to the Pinang Peranakan Mansion. Supermarkets, the street art, and the market are all within walking distance. Breakfast was different every day. There's also parking available.

Great
SSuzhoucaoThe location is fantastic! There's a big mall right next door and a 7-Eleven across the street. Plus, several food centers are just a few hundred meters away on foot, making it incredibly convenient. The hotel itself is clean, hygienic, and the service is great. Breakfast is really plentiful, and the rice noodles are especially delicious. It can get quite busy, but that's to be expected with such a prime location; getting around is super easy. The street art area is just a fifteen-minute walk away. I even saw a lion dance performance in the morning, which was a fun surprise, haha!
Jjim jimThis hotel is super convenient! There are so many eateries nearby, and the dessert shops serve really generous portions. The white coffee at OO coffee shop is delicious too. You'll find plenty of open-air food stalls around, and even though they don't have air conditioning, the local flavors are fantastic and the food is great.
AAnonymous UserCleanliness: Decent, but don't look too closely, as the hotel is indeed very old.
Ambiance: The hotel as a whole felt more cramped than expected, especially the entrance to the Heritage Wing. Having stayed at the Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan, I had high expectations for this equally historic hotel, but was a little disappointed.
Service: The front desk service was quite mediocre and rather cold. Initially, they tried to charge me a 13 MYR tax, even though I had already paid online when booking. I only needed to pay 3 MYR upon arrival, and the front desk took a long time to confirm this. Furthermore, I didn't get my room until 3 PM (most hotels are a bit earlier; I actually checked in at the front desk at 12 PM as I was changing hotels in the same city that day). The room I was given was on the 1st floor with a not-so-great view. During check-in, I had specifically requested a slightly higher floor and a quiet room, but neither was accommodated. When I asked why, the front desk claimed my room type was only available on the G floor and 1st floor, yet Trip.com showed this room type as being on floors 1-3... I don't know who was lying, but it left a very bad impression. The service from other staff members was fine, but the poor first impression from the front desk significantly impacted the overall experience.
The European semi-buffet breakfast in the Heritage Wing had average variety and taste. However, each portion was quite generous. The old-world European ambiance was far inferior to the Old Cataract. Perhaps with such a gem as a precedent, the comparison led to greater disappointment.
GGuest UserThe view was simply beautiful, especially at midnight when the sky was filled with countless stars. The atmosphere was peaceful and calming, perfect for unwinding. There were many complimentary facilities and activities available, making the stay even more enjoyable. The staff were friendly and attentive, adding warmth to the experience. Overall, it’s a wonderful place to relax and recharge.
AAnonymous UserYou can take bus 401E directly from the airport to the hotel, getting off at Komtar station. It takes about 40 minutes. The hotel is about 200 meters from Komtar. It's quite a long walk to the street art area, and it's too hot to walk comfortably. The hotel is considered large for Penang, but the facilities are quite old. The buffet restaurant on the first floor is very average. The 11th-floor pool is decent. The massage parlor is run by a third party. The soundproofing is pretty bad. Several front desk staff members can speak Chinese.
KKt05Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Parkroyal. The service was a standout, got friendly and warm welcome as soon as we stepped foot in and all staff was polite and helpful. The amenities are fantastic and the location with Batu Ferringhi beach right on the doorstep was excellent. The room is well equipped and very clean, and the breakfast is one of the best breakfast buffets I've had with an abundant selection of great quality food and drinks no
AAnonymous UserIt was the last hotel at the end of a two week trip in Malaysia. I chose it seeing it was closer to the airport.
It was perfect! A spacious room in a boutique hotel, and some pampering and rest before a long flight home.
Positives:
- Pool, was cool and busy.
- Complimentary drinks, were appreciated.
- Spacious room and bathroom.
- Loved the ‘Say No to Plastic’ environmental initiatives.
- Cafe space, food was tasty and reasonably priced.
- Staff were friendly and efficient.
- Convenient Store down stairs for snack and drinks.
- I asked for an extra hour for check out.
It’s in a residential area, next to a busy road. So it’s not a place to explore the local area and a GRAB is needed to get around.
However, a perfect STAY for the last day of holidays and it’s closer to the airport.
AAnonymous UserMy stay with OZO Penang was truly awesome! From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The hotel facilities were well-maintained and comfortable, perfect for both relaxing and getting around the city.
The breakfast spread was a real highlight, a great variety ranging from delicious local dishes to a lovely cheese platter. There was everything from a freshly prepared egg station to a fun ice cream corner, so there was something for everyone. Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and I would definitely recommend OZO Penang to anyone visiting Penang.

HH4ik4lIf you’re looking for a modern, well-located stay in George Town, Beacon Executive Suites is a popular choice that balances luxury with practical apartment-style living.
Here is a general review based on typical guest experiences as of late 2025:
Beacon Executive Suites Penang: Review
The Highlight: The Rooftop Sky Podium
The standout feature of this property is the rooftop infinity pool. Located on the highest floor, it offers a stunning 360-degree panoramic view of the Penang skyline, including a clear view of Komtar. It is arguably one of the best spots in the city for sunrise or a late-night dip, as the pool is often heated or kept at a comfortable temperature.
Accommodations & Comfort
The suites are designed as ”Executive” units, meaning they feel more like a high-end condo than a standard hotel room.
• Space: Most units feature high ceilings, which give the apartments a bright, airy, and ”cooling” feel.
• Amenities: Units typically come with a fully equipped kitchenette, a washing machine, and high-speed Wi-Fi, making it excellent for families or digital nomads staying for more than a few days.
• Cleanliness: Generally rated very high (often scoring 9.0+ on booking platforms). Guests frequently mention the ”sparkling clean” condition of the rooms upon check-in.
Location & Accessibility
Situated on Jalan Sungai Pinang, the location is strategic:
• Foodie Heaven: You are within a 5-minute drive of famous food spots like the Padang Brown food court and various local cafes.
• Sightseeing: Most major George Town attractions (Armenian Street, Chew Jetty, and Komtar) are just a 7–10 minute Grab ride away.
• Convenience: There is a minimarket on-site and several 24-hour convenience stores within walking distance.
Things to Consider
• Self-Check-In: Like many executive suites in Penang, this is often managed by third-party hosts rather than a traditional hotel front desk. Communication is usually done via WhatsApp or messaging apps.
• Parking: While free parking is provided, the multi-level parking garage requires driving up several floors, which can be a bit tedious if you are in a rush.
• Security: Security is strict, which is great for safety, but make sure to keep your access card with you at all times to avoid being locked out of common areas.
Final Verdict
Best for: Families, groups of friends, and business travelers who want more space and better facilities than a hotel room can offer.
Rating: 4.5 / 5
It offers incredible value for money, especially for the quality of the rooftop facilities and the modern interior of the suites.
