Xining Hotels with Bars

"I will start off by saying that the room and bathroom were well appointed, the staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was delicious. However, whilst the room was generally clean, when I dropped something that subsequently rolled under a fitted unit, I was pretty disgusted to see the dust and filth beneath it. It clearly had not been cleaned for…well…ever? I appreciate that these areas will not be as clean as the more visible parts of the room, however for a five star hotel, this is unacceptable. I do not expect to find dirty tissues and a thick layer of dust and dirt anywhere in my hotel room. But by far the absolute worst part of my stay was the inability to control the temperature in the room whatsoever. The room was so swelteringly hot that despite the comfortable bed, and everything to go with it, I was almost unable to sleep at all. I do not expect this in a five star hotel(and have never experienced it other than here and at anther Wanda hotel in Hohhot), I pay for luxury; controlling the room temperature is a basic requirement that I can even do in a 50 yuan a night hostel dorm. When I asked the staff at reception the following morning I was told the AC wouldn’t be available until after April 15th because ‘it’s cold outside’. Firstly, I am not sleeping outside, I am sleeping inside, on the 22nd floor, where it is anything but cold. Not to mention it was April, not January, even in Xining it is not that cold. Secondly, as a paying guest, in a five star hotel, it should be up to me to decide if it is hot or cold, not the hotel. For this reason, as lovely as the room, staff and breakfast may have been, I would not stay here again. I checked out and moved to the lower rated Hilton, where I could control the room temperature and actually managed to sleep…generally what the whole point of a hotel is."

"The hotel is conveniently located not far from both the airport and train station, just a 20-minute taxi ride to Caojiapu Airport. During check-in, I even noticed flight attendants staying here, which gave me a good impression. We were traveling with elderly parents and a child, so we had booked a triple room. On the day of arrival, we called ahead and were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to a family suite. It featured a 1.8-meter king-size bed and a 1.5-meter bunk bed. Both grandma and the little one had their own beds, and our child, who had always dreamed of sleeping on the top bunk, was absolutely thrilled! They didn't even want to check out. Breakfast was also good, though it did get quite busy during peak hours, and we had to wait for a table. The hotel also provides a self-service laundry room, which is a huge convenience for long-distance travelers."
