"This hotel is quite unique! Because it's built on a hillside, its first floor connects to the fifth floor of a neighboring shopping mall, while its main lobby is on its own fifth floor. The higher floors offer even better views. The lobby entrance faces directly onto the mountains, providing stunning scenery, and the foot bath by the entrance is wonderfully therapeutic. Both large onsen pools have outdoor sections with fantastic views. They are fully equipped with jacuzzis, saunas, cold plunge pools, and massage areas, making for a truly satisfying hot spring experience! Both breakfast and dinner are buffet-style and taste excellent. Additionally, the hotel offers a wide range of complimentary activities. I highly recommend the Mori no Yu onsen facility that partners with the hotel; it has numerous hot springs with diverse styles, and the bathing experience there is even better than at the hotel itself. This was an absolutely perfect onsen experience and well worth it."

"The hotel was located a bit further out from the main attractions. However, with that its also at a quieter area and nice break away from the touristy area. Because of the location, it is also convenient to get to the Gotemba outlet mall. There’s a mountain view outside the balcony. A convenience store and bus stop just right outside the hotel. We felt the breakfast served was underwhelming, and the same food was served on the 2 days we were there. The hotel was spacious and really clean, interior design was beautiful. The hotspring was really nice as well. The staff recommended the Izakaya restaurant called Monta, just few minutes walk from the hotel. The food was really good and open till 12am!"

"Our stay at the hotel was overall excellent, and we would still highly recommend it, especially for couples looking for a pleasant getaway. Almost everything was perfect—the room was clean and comfortable, the facilities were great, and every other staff member we encountered was polite and helpful. It’s truly a lovely place to spend time together. However, our check-in experience was noticeably unpleasant due to one staff member. She came across as unwelcoming and impatient, almost as if we were bothering her. She rushed through the process and felt quite pushy, especially when repeatedly questioning which language we preferred—even though we tried communicating in both Japanese and English. Her attitude made us feel uncomfortable and somewhat unwanted at first. Aside from this one incident, everything else was wonderful. We hope the hotel addresses such front-desk service issues so that future guests can enjoy a consistently welcoming experience from start to finish."

"Overall, it's a very good hotel. Although it's a bit old, it doesn't smell musty, but there's some moss in the hot springs. Breakfast is relatively early, so I recommend booking it with dinner when you arrive, rather than booking breakfast and dinner later, as it's very expensive. Overall, the experience was quite good. Transportation was a little inconvenient, requiring a taxi. Everything else was quite satisfactory."

With a stay at Daiwa Roynet Hotel Numazu in Numazu, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park and Senbonhama Park. Private bathrooms with shower/tub combinations feature complimentary toiletries and bidets. Conveniences include phones, as well as desks and coffee/tea makers.

"The hotel's location is super convenient; it's about a three to five-minute walk from Numazu Station's North Exit. You'll pass a Lawson on the way, and there's a 7-Eleven just a minute's walk diagonally across from the hotel, making it really easy to grab necessities. The room itself is typical of a Japanese chain hotel – enough space to lay out your luggage, plus two seats, which is quite good. On my first morning, I had a pleasant surprise: a small view of Mount Fuji from my window, which was a nice bonus for the trip. Regarding the downsides: the North Exit of Numazu Station is a bit quieter compared to the South Exit. If your room faces the street, you might occasionally hear cars speeding by at night, which can be a bit noisy. Also, the soundproofing isn't great; if there's activity next door, you can hear it pretty clearly. In summary, if you prioritize convenient transportation and good value for money, this hotel is a solid choice. However, if you're very particular about your sleeping environment, I'd recommend asking for a room not facing the street (though you might miss out on the Fuji view then)."

"I originally planned to stay one night in Hakone, but after checking some guides, I realized there were so many attractions. So, I decided to book an extra night. Apparently, booking two separate nights doesn't guarantee you the same room. The front desk lady spent quite a while checking her computer to arrange a single room for me. Next time, I'll remember to book both nights at once. It might have been because of the Chinese New Year period when there are lots of guests checking in. Hakone is perfect for a one-night, two-meal stay. Since the attractions in Hakone are spread out, it's best to spend the day fully immersing yourself in sightseeing. If you get hungry at lunchtime, just grab some snacks to save time, and then enjoy the hot springs and buffet at the hotel in the morning and evening. The rooftop hot spring might use regular hot water, but it wasn't too crowded, and they had some toiletries and skincare products, so I just decided to wash up there instead of in my room."

"Our Hakone trip's biggest surprise was definitely staying at the Ashinoko Hanaori ryokan. The entire experience was fantastic, far exceeding our expectations. I especially want to highlight the rooms, the food, and the private onsen! The rooms were surprisingly spacious, a clever blend of Japanese and Western styles. Even with family, it never felt cramped. The furnishings were exquisite and tidy, and all amenities were well-provided. Sitting by the window, gazing at the beautiful Ashi Lake scenery, was incredibly relaxing. The food was another huge plus for the ryokan. The buffet breakfast and dinner offered a wide variety, featuring fresh local ingredients. There were both characteristic Japanese dishes and delicate desserts, all with a refined and authentic taste. If you book in advance, you can even dine with a lake view, making it a feast for both the eyes and the palate. But the private onsen was the absolute highlight – amazing value for money and incredibly private. The bathwater was warm and soothing, and soaking in it completely relaxed my body, washing away all travel fatigue. Taking a dip in the private onsen at night, accompanied by the tranquil night sky and a gentle breeze, created an utterly immersive and therapeutic atmosphere. The ryokan's convenient location was the icing on the cake. It's directly opposite the Togendai transport hub, making travel incredibly easy. Whether you're heading to Ashi Lake for the pirate ship, or taking the ropeway and buses to various attractions, you don't need to go out of your way – the boarding points are within walking distance, saving a lot of hassle. What was especially convenient was that our plan for the next day was to travel from Hakone to Mount Fuji. We could take a direct bus from Togendai to Gotemba; the schedule was convenient, the journey smooth, and there was no need for extra transfers, which significantly saved travel time and made our trip more worry-free and efficient. The ryokan's service was also very thoughtful. The overall experience was excellent, suitable for both family trips and romantic getaways. It's definitely our top choice for accommodation in Hakone, and we'll certainly stay here again next time!"

"Really nice room with good views over the railway and hills. Great breakfast and dinner, which changed day to day for our two day stay. Didn't use the public baths, but the bath on our balcony and private baths were great. A bit hit and miss as to whether you get a chance to use the private baths as there is no booking system (not a criticism, it just might take a few attempts/waiting to get a bath). Free snacks and late night ramen were great as well."

Hakone Kowakien Miyama Furin is a Japanese-style ryokan located in the Kowakudani area of Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, surrounded by the natural beauty of Hakone, offering a tranquil environment where you can enjoy a relaxing time. It is approximately a 5-minute drive from the nearest Kowakudani Station, with convenient access to tourist attractions such as the Yunesan hot spring theme park, Owakudani, and Lake Ashi. The ryokan features all Japanese-style rooms with tatami mats and a quiet atmosphere, with an irori (sunken hearth) in each room. Guests can relax in the natural hot springs, directly supplied from the source. Enjoy the seasonal beauty of nature while savoring exquisite Japanese cuisine made from local seasonal ingredients, and experience a peaceful and enjoyable time.

"This hotel is nestled in the mountains of Hakone so it's very peaceful and quiet. Room and amenities are new and extremely clean. The surroundings are also worth checking out, with a park just opposite and a waterfall nearby. Major bonus if you go in autumn as the maple trees will turn flaming red. Another big pro is the free access to the Yunessun onsens (free rental of towels and swimsuit upon showing that you're staying at the hotel). The indoor onsen has funky pools like coffee, red wine and green tea, but the real gem is the Mori no yu outdoor onsen. Once in the onsen, remember to go down the steps to discover many more pools below with nice surroundings and mountain view. Also a shoutout to the hotel staff who are incredibly kind and helpful. It's a small hotel with only 3 levels. No escalators or lifts but the staff will help to carry your luggage upon check in and check out. A kind staff even checked whether I have an umbrella when I was about to go out because it might rain. I daresay this is my favourite hotel amongst all the hotels I've stayed in."
