If you're coming to Shaoxing, you *must* stay at the Shaoxing Hotel at least once! **Ambiance**: As Shaoxing's traditional state guesthouse, it's beautiful and grand, a tranquil oasis tucked away at a bustling street corner. From the moment you drive into the hotel lobby, there's just one feeling – this money was well spent. **Facilities**: We booked a loft in Building 8, which is perfect for traveling with parents. Three adults in one family don't need to book two rooms; you can be together while still maintaining relatively independent spaces. The independent bathroom upstairs was a pleasant surprise. **Parking**: Although the hotel is large, there's ample parking, thoughtfully accommodating the needs of each building. Both ground-level and underground parking are available in front of Building 8, complete with charging piles. You can park your car and take the elevator directly upstairs, completely avoiding the hassle of dragging luggage through the massive hotel. **Service**: It boasts the kind of service you'd expect from a five-star hotel. From the moment our car pulled up to the lobby, someone was there to guide us, help with luggage, and assist with check-in. The shuttle bus continuously transports guests between the various buildings, which is very convenient. Especially in the morning, as soon as you step downstairs, there are staff members directing you to the breakfast area, and the shuttle bus is already waiting. In short, any time I felt the need for service, it was readily provided – excellent! **Breakfast**: I *must* commend the breakfast! In an era where pre-made dishes are everywhere, it's truly rare to find such a rich and varied breakfast that clearly isn't pre-made! Many specialty pastries are being freshly prepared by chefs right before your eyes. The 68 RMB per person buffet breakfast is highly recommended! Also, during holidays, it can get crowded, but several hotel managers were on-site, guiding guests to tables, instructing servers to clear tables promptly, and responding to various customer requests. I haven't seen this level of service in a long time; it felt very reassuring and comfortable. **Final Thoughts**: In recent years, while my parents are still active, I've been taking them to explore different cities across the country. Along the way, I've had disappointing experiences at various so-called ”old-brand five-star” hotels, which made me distrustful of five-star establishments, preferring instead to choose Huazhu or Atour. This time, our New Year's Day trip was primarily for leisure, and we chose Shaoxing Hotel because we wanted a loft-style room. It turned out to be the highlight of our entire trip. The hotel's配套 seasonal Cantonese restaurant is also delicious and equally recommended!"

"Recently, I spent 3 days and 2 nights in Shaoxing. On the afternoon of the 13th at 4:50 PM, I checked into the Wupeng Hotel at 40 Huancheng West Road (2-star, renovated and opened in 2025). On the morning of the 14th at 8:17 AM, I rebooked and went to Zhejiang Yue Hotel (3-star, renovated and opened in 2020) to complete the pre-check-in procedures. The two hotels are about 500 meters apart and similarly priced. Initially, I chose Wupeng Hotel because it was newly renovated and opened in 2025, and both were branded as ”hotels.” However, reality struck me hard. My different experiences at the two hotels and the WeChat chat records are enough to prove that choosing a hotel shouldn't solely depend on its opening time and promotional pictures. A standardized hotel like Zhejiang Yue offers richer substance and can provide guests with a more comfortable and pleasant vacation experience. Figures 1-10 show Wupeng Hotel, and Figures 11-20 show Zhejiang Yue Hotel. First, Zhejiang Yue, a standardized hotel, offers cozy comfort. The Wupeng 'Hotel' is actually a converted residential building, with its entrance inside a residential complex. The bathroom is within the bedroom, and the toilet door opens inwards, forcing guests to step into the shower to exit; breakfast offers two options: provided by the hotel or self-purchased, with the same varieties for each person. Zhejiang Yue Hotel is located in the historic and cultural street of Xixiao District, a complete hotel-style building, elegant and grand. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with full amenities. A buffet breakfast is provided, and late-night snacks are available in the evening (free of charge). Second, Zhejiang Yue Hotel offers excellent service, with instant replies and immediate assistance for any needs within a minute. The WeChat chat records clearly show the significant difference. On the afternoon of the 13th at 4:50 PM, I checked into Wupeng Hotel. I arrived at Shaoxing North Station at 8:52 AM, then went to Anchang Ancient Town for a 2-hour visit. During that time, I bought 3 catties of cured meat, 3 catties of Xiangfei nuts for 50 yuan, and 2 catties of soy-sauce-braised pork. After that, I took a bus to Keqiao Ancient Town. I was so tired that after checking in at 4:50 PM, I immediately collapsed onto the bed and fell asleep. What happened next made me feel that the service was extremely lacking. Chat records are available. Third, Zhejiang Yue's comfortable environment and thoughtful service are the most basic necessities for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation."

"When we came to Shaoxing, I suggested staying at an Atour hotel, but my wife wanted something more upscale, so we booked the Tianma Hotel. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helped us with the check-in process every step of the way. They even thoughtfully asked if we needed Wi-Fi. It's definitely a step above an economy hotel like Atour. The breakfast was plentiful, and while our older child exceeded the height limit and cost an extra 88 RMB per person, the food was excellent. It's less than two kilometers from the Former Residence of Wang Xizhi and the Bazi Bridge Historic District, making it an easy walk. The high-floor lake-view rooms offer a panoramic view of Meilong Lake and the city's nightscape, truly a landmark experience in Shaoxing. The room spaciousness is a pleasant surprise, with floor-to-ceiling windows providing excellent natural light and full amenities. The front desk service is warm and welcoming, especially Ivy, who proactively attended to our needs and provided thoughtful and meticulous service. She made us, as out-of-town visitors, feel the warmth and hospitality of both Shaoxing and the Shimao Hotel. We'll definitely return to experience the hotel's high-quality service and the charm of Shaoxing again!"

Upon arrival, I was greeted with a welcoming pot of 'jie feng jiu,' along with local specialties like aniseed beans and fresh fruit. In the mornings, I'd see people washing clothes across the river, and the sight of local smoked meats hanging outside the windows of the old town homes was truly mouth-watering. In the afternoon, the rooftop terrace offered a sunny, panoramic view of the ancient city; at night, I could simply step out the back door and down to the river to enjoy the water. The hotel's location is incredibly convenient for dining, accommodation, and transportation. They offer custom breakfasts and late-night sweet soups, and the concierge thoughtfully provided a guide to various attractions from the hotel. Choosing the Dongyueli Hotel was the luckiest decision of my Shaoxing trip, as it truly allowed me to live at the pulse of Shaoxing. Tucked away amidst the vibrant atmosphere of Cangqiao Straight Street, yet offering its own serene tranquility – in the mornings, you can see 'dama' (aunties) washing clothes across the river, and the homemade smoked meats hanging outside the windows of local homes are simply irresistible. The rooftop terrace provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the ancient city, while the stone steps at the back door lead directly to the gently flowing river. From the thoughtful 'jie feng huangjiu' (welcoming yellow wine) and the concierge's travel tips to the delightful surprise of late-night sweet soups, every detail helps you shed your tourist identity and feel like a part of the ancient town's life. This isn't just a place to rest your head; it's a key to unlocking an authentic Jiangnan experience. If you want to experience a Shaoxing that is warm, flavorful, and full of life, starting here is an absolute must."
