A modern Edinburgh hotel in a Georgian building within walking distance of the city's top attractions Holiday Inn Express® - Edinburgh City Centre hotel is a 10-minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley station in the city's New Town. It's a short stroll to the York Place tram stop, which has a direct connection to Edinburgh Airport (EDI). The Edinburgh Playhouse theatre and OMNI Edinburgh's restaurants and cinemas are right across the road. Princes Street and George Street's shops are a few minutes' walk away. You can ramble over the ramparts of Edinburgh Castle, 20 minutes' walk from the hotel. Or experience more royal flavour, less than a mile from the hotel, at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen's official Scottish residence. Amble through the expansive Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, half an hour on foot from the hotel, or wander into Princes Street Gardens to spot the huge floral clock. Business guests are on the doorstep of the financial district around St. Andrew Square and George Street, while the Edinburgh International Conference Centre is less than 10 minutes' drive away. The hotel has a smart meeting rooms. Enjoy free Wi-Fi and an inclusive hot Express Start Breakfast. A nearby Fitness Centre is available to guests. Unwind after a busy day's sightseeing over a cool beer in the lounge bar.

"My room, 114, was the first one right past the fire exit door. Every time someone closed the fire exit, it slammed shut with a loud 'bang.' To make matters worse, the room faced the street, with constant noise from trams, cars, and people's voices outside the window. It made me realize Edinburgh isn't as quiet at night as one might expect, especially since it's directly opposite the Edinburgh Playhouse. It truly felt like the noisiest room in the entire building. We were just stopping over for one night, so we tolerated it. However, I booked and paid for a twin room on Ctrip, but was given a double room instead. They then claimed I had booked a 'standard room' and that they had no twin rooms available. Whether they had twin rooms or not is one thing, but the real issue is why they didn't receive my correct booking information. On the plus side, the room wasn't particularly small. For luggage storage, guests had to push their own bags into the designated storage room. The breakfast also didn't include any fruit. This truly felt like a 3-star hotel offering nothing more than 3-star service. Abroad, a one-star difference in rating truly means a significant drop in quality, no exaggeration. In China, you might find 4-star hotels that feel like 5-star ones, but that's absolutely not the case overseas."

"Overall it was a nice stay but it was a mixed experience. What we loved - The room was lovely, we were really happy with the amenities available in the room. We booked a studio and it came with 2 double beds, good kitchen amenities, large bathroom, washer and dryer and a pretty cool skylight with a black out blind (we were in room 411 on the 4th floor) - Staff were lovely and polite - Location was ideal as it wasn't too far from the station and had plenty of shops, cafes and Christmas activities around. What we didn't like - The room wasn't as clean as we'd hoped. One of the rooms has dust behind the door and the vents for the A/C needed dusting. - There was a little confusion over whether I'd paid, I paid beforehand with Trip.com and it didn't register with them, so they asked for me to pay when checking in, if I hadn't checked I may have needed too. (Also if you're booking, it may be worth going direct as there was a nearly £30 difference between the price I paid through trip.com and what I was 'invoiced' following our stay) - They ran out of shampoo and it had clearly been filled up with water to compensate (not major but if you're paying nearly £200 a night these are the small details I'd expect to be addressed -Finally, this one is for the staff, you have a cool radio in the room in 411 but please check the plug socket as is cuts out and you can hear the electricity buzzing when you plug the socket in. Didn't have any noise issues and I would definitely stay again, though I don't think I'd pay the price I did for it again. (Hotel was charging £158.95, Trip.com charged me £183)"

"Mixed experience – not quite 4-star quality for the price I recently stayed at the Edinburgh Marriott Hotel and, unfortunately, had to request a room change upon arrival. The first room didn’t feel like what you’d expect from a 4-star hotel, especially at nearly £200 per night. It was very basic—no carpet, no robe, and no slippers. The room felt empty, more like a budget option than a premium stay. We were moved to another room, which did have a carpet, but it was essentially the same situation—still no slippers or robe etc. That said, there were a few positives: the location is great, the breakfast was really nice, and the pool itself was a good facility. Overall, I might stay here again, but only if the price reflects the actual experience. At this rate, I expected a bit more attention to detail and comfort."

"The rooms are extremely compact but adequately equipped with the essential amenities, making them suitable for a one-night stay or, at most, a two-night stay. Regrettably, I experienced an extremely unpleasant and concerning incident involving a staff member at the coffee house during breakfast. The Caucasian female staff member appeared to display discriminatory behaviour by repeatedly asking me to leave, while allowing white guests to remain. I find this conduct unacceptable and deeply troubling. The matter has been reported to hotel management, and I trust that a thorough investigation will be conducted and appropriate corrective action taken to prevent such incidents in the future."

"Amazing stay experience at the Ten Hill Place Hotel. I was on a trip with my mother. The staff here made our stay, checking in & out and the whole experience very easy and smooth. We did have some issues in our bathroom which was dealt with promptly by their staff. The place is very conveniently located near the center with major attractions just walks away like the royal mile, victoria street, princes street, castle and the scott monument. If you wish to travel by bus there is a bus stop just 2 mins away as well. We found lidl, sainsbury and some affordable food options just near the hotel. Although the hotel also offers their restaurant with amazing food. Our room had scenic mountain & city landscape views. Overall a very beautiful and convenient stay for people travelling or looking to explore Edinburgh. Highly recommend!!"

"Avoid this place! My friend and I stayed for 4 nights, and the experience was so bad we wanted to move out immediately. Giving it a 3-star rating is being generous! We checked in during the cold winter, and the room's heating was practically nonexistent. The room temperature was ridiculously low. When we asked the front desk for extra blankets, they said they didn't have any. We ended up sleeping bundled in our clothes and under the duvet, enduring the cold all night, unable to sleep. The bathroom was even worse. The toilet needed to be flushed multiple times, and the flush was so weak it couldn't clean anything properly; every use was frustrating. The most outrageous part was the housekeeping service—we didn't see a single cleaner in four days. The trash cans piled up, the bath towels weren't replaced, and the room was so dirty and messy it didn't feel like a legitimate hotel. Not to mention the wobbly tables and chairs, and faulty electrical outlets; everything was so old it was infuriating. The 10 AM mandatory check-out rule was strictly enforced, but the hardware and service absolutely do not match the price! I genuinely advise everyone to stay away, especially if you're traveling with friends and looking for comfort; this place will only ruin your trip…"

"Travelled to Edinburgh with another couple which I recommended this hotel being an IHG. We arrived in our rooms and I feel Embarassed choosing this hotel four our 2 Night stay. For almost £250 a night (stayed for 2 nights), a 1 star hotel room is much larger than our double bed room. Travelodge and Premier Inn rooms are way larger, with table and chairs and even your own coffee/tea in your room, and they are a quarter of a price or less. Do not expect a big room. If you have seen a motel before, it is the size of that. The moment you open your room door, take 1 step and its your bed. Not sure why IHG took this. Its a downgrade of their hotels. Holiday inn express, their budget hotel is waaaaaaaayyyyuu better. The bed also is very very hot at night, Not warm but hot. For the plus side, good shower, Clean room (newly refurbished i think)."

JJay-PeeMy Stay at Point A Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket: Modern Comfort in Scotland's Capital Just returned from a quick overnight at Point A Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket and wanted to share my experience! At £146.13 for the night, it offered a sleek, contemporary stay in one of the UK's most beautiful cities. The location at 152 Morrison Street (EH3 8EB) is absolutely spot-on. Situated in the Haymarket area, it puts you within easy reach of Edinburgh's major attractions while being slightly removed from the tourist crowds. The area has excellent transport links, with Haymarket station nearby, making it perfect for exploring both the historic Old Town and the elegant New Town. I stayed for **one night from Wednesday, July 23 to Thursday, July 24, 2025**. The flexible check-in window (3 PM until midnight) was super convenient for my travel schedule, and the 11 AM check-out gave me enough time to get ready without feeling rushed the next morning. The hotel itself has a modern, minimalist aesthetic (visible in the booking thumbnail), which carried through to my room. Everything was clean, well-designed, and efficiently laid out. Point A is known for their smart, space-saving rooms that focus on quality essentials rather than unnecessary frills – perfect for city explorers who plan to spend most of their time out and about. What I appreciated was the **upfront pricing** – the £146.13 covered everything with no hidden extras. I should note that I opted for a non-refundable rate to get the best price, which was clearly explained during booking. The Trip.com process was straightforward, and their price match and stay guarantee added extra peace of mind. The app's ”Message Property” and ”Call Property” features were handy when I needed to confirm the parking situation nearby. Being able to communicate directly through the app made planning much easier. Is it a sprawling luxury hotel with extensive facilities? No, but that's not what Point A aims to be. It delivers exactly what it promises: a smart, comfortable, well-located base for exploring Edinburgh at a fair price point. **Would I recommend it?** Absolutely! If you're looking for a modern, no-nonsense place to stay in Edinburgh with excellent location and clean, comfortable rooms, Point A Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket is an excellent choice. Perfect for solo travelers, couples, or anyone wanting a quality city break without overspending on accommodation.

YYunduanderizi21A very traditional, elegant, ancient and solemn hotel, the overall feeling is very good! The location is very convenient. After exiting the Waverley train station, you can reach the hotel in less than 5 minutes on foot. The entrance is very eye-catching. It's just a big uphill walk, and it will be a bit strenuous if you push a large piece of luggage. It only takes 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the castle. The hotel lobby is very traditional, and the characteristic bonfire hall seems to have entered Santa Claus's home. The lady at the front desk is very enthusiastic and introduced the various facilities in the room in detail. Because Scotland is still quite cold, I didn't feel it when I turned on the heating in the room to the maximum. In the morning, a traditional English breakfast on the first floor of the hotel is absolutely amazing. There is a western restaurant with candlelight dinner next to the hotel, where you can enjoy a sweet world for two! 😍😍

Aamyun.myunAs a location, I think this is a very nice hotel to stay in; however, for a 5-star hotel, I expected a much higher level of service.  We were disappointed by several issues during our stay. First, housekeeping knocked on our door around 8 a.m., waking us up to ask if we needed cleaning. We requested the service, but when we returned to our room around 3 p.m., it had not been cleaned. Even after we went out to dinner and returned later that evening, the room was still not cleaned. Additionally, while my friend and I were resting in the room, the door had not been closed properly and was slightly open. A hotel staff then opened the door without knocking, which made us feel very uncomfortable. Another issue occurred when my friend ordered food via Deliveroo. The order was marked as delivered, but we could not find it. We asked the lobby ambassador for assistance, but she was not helpful at all. We eventually found the order ourselves, placed on the concierge desk. Overall, the service from the staff was very disappointing and felt cold and unwelcoming. While I would recommend the hotel for its location, the level of service was far below what I would expect from a 5-star hotel.

FFatima IssaA Wonderful Stay – Highly Recommended! My friend and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this lovely property, and we had an excellent experience. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with the attention to detail and the warmth of the staff. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring we both got a restful night’s sleep. What truly stood out, however, was the level of service. I was feeling a bit under the weather during our stay, and the staff went above and beyond by bringing breakfast directly to our room, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture. This level of care really goes a long way in making guests feel valued. For those who prefer to enjoy their breakfast with a bit of fresh air, the hotel also has a charming terrace where you can take your meal while soaking in the surroundings. It's the perfect way to start the day if you want to enjoy a bit of sunshine. The location is also a major plus. It’s just a short walk to the city center, making it easy to explore, and for those who prefer not to walk, a quick 5-minute bus ride will take you wherever you need to go. The lounge area at the hotel is another highlight. It’s spacious, cozy, and thoughtfully equipped with blankets to keep guests comfortable if the temperature drops. It provided the perfect spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area. The combination of comfort, thoughtful service, and a prime location makes it a top choice. We will definitely be staying here again when we return!
