"The location is fantastic, with lots of European and American tour groups. The hotel's hygiene and overall environment are excellent, and the room size is genuinely large for Japan. In our triple room, we could easily open two 24-inch suitcases, and there was even a small table with sofa seating, perfect for gathering to eat.
**Transportation**: After getting off at JR Kyoto Station, exit towards ”West Exit.” Then, from ”Hachijo West Exit,” take the elevator down on your right. Cross the street, and with your back to JR Kyoto Station, walk right. It's a very short walk, making it ideal for those with lots of luggage or traveling with family.
**Breakfast**: There are four restaurants to choose from. The Japanese-Western buffet breakfast was great, and the coffee was delicious and rich.
**Price**: During autumn foliage season, the prices doubled. For three people with breakfast, it was over 1200 a day.
**Minor issues**: There was no bottled water; you had to get water and ice from the hallway. There was no microwave for heating food, and we didn't encounter any Chinese-speaking staff (even though the hotel advertises itself as Chinese-friendly). However, translation apps and English were sufficient to get by."

I didn’t call the reception and just used data, but it would be great if they can fix any issues soon."

"We booked a triple room, advertised with two single beds and a sofa bed. However, the sofa bed was absolutely impossible to sleep on. One side was high, the other low, and I nearly fell off in the middle of the night because the low side was also a slope! I really wanted to give a bad review just for this. How can anyone stay or sleep with facilities like that? My impression of Japanese professionalism instantly vanished! I recommend avoiding room 964 if you're booking a triple, and I also suggest the hotel takes action to raise the lower side. It's actually a simple fix; we ended up stuffing three bath towels under the low side just to make it tolerable for the last two nights. Apart from that, the overall experience was pretty good."

"The hotel facilities are quite new, and the rooms are very spacious, making for a comfortable stay for families. The hotel is easily spotted right outside Umekoji-Kyotonishi Station on the JR San-in Line. It's just one stop from Kyoto Station, which is very convenient. (The journey typically takes around 15 minutes, but it's always a good idea to check Google Maps for train schedules and plan your time accordingly.) There are also two bus stops nearby, adding to its convenience, and it's located away from the bustling city center. It's particularly convenient for visiting the Kyoto Railway Museum. For trips to Arashiyama, staying here is great as it's on the JR line. Getting to Kawaramachi Shijo takes about half an hour by bus, with all these routes easily accessible via Kyoto Station. There's a FamilyMart convenience store and a Starbucks right downstairs, which is incredibly handy. The hotel's large public bath (essentially a hot pool) is quite clean and perfect for a relaxing soak to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Overall, I highly recommend it for families traveling with children!"

"You can bring one child under 12 for free. The transportation is also quite convenient, just a few bus stops from Kyoto Station. I remember there was a large FamilyMart right next to me, and a 7-Eleven at the intersection, as well as a LIFE supermarket. The hotel has a large public bath, and although the pool isn't big, it's still a nice way to relax in the evening. In the lobby on the first floor, they offer free iced coffee and iced water every day, which is super refreshing! I would consider staying here again next time I visit Kyoto. If it's a voucher for around 200 per night, it's a great deal, but anything over 500 wouldn't be worth it."

"The hotel is just one stop away from Kyoto JR Station; you step right out into it. There's also a bus stop right outside the entrance. It's very convenient for visiting attractions in Kyoto city. The whole place feels very new and modern. You're required to take off your shoes upon entering the hotel, and walking barefoot throughout the entire premises takes a bit of getting used to. They offer complimentary late-night noodles starting at 9:30 PM daily. In the mornings, there's unlimited Yakult, and in the evenings, free-flow ice pops. Both indoor and outdoor onsen (hot springs) are available. However, since Kyoto likely doesn't have volcanoes, the overall quality of the hot springs can't quite compare to similar hotels in areas like Hakone. P.S. This hotel belongs to the same management group as Mizunone, where I stayed in Hakone last year."

"I've always had a great impression of Mitsui Garden Hotels. Last time I stayed at Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Station, and this time I chose Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shijo.
The hotel's location is excellent. If you're coming from Kyoto Station, you can take bus route 50, which stops right at the hotel entrance. There's a FamilyMart convenience store just 50 meters away, and it's very convenient to get to Daimaru and Takashimaya department stores. The Kamo River is about 1.5 kilometers away, a pleasant 20-minute walk.
The hotel lobby is spacious, with a warm and inviting wooden decor, and a small Japanese garden view. There's a public bath on the first floor, open from 3 PM until 9 AM the next morning. After a long day of sightseeing, a hot soak in the bath is incredibly relaxing and refreshing.
The twin room was quite spacious. There's a long sofa and a small table by the bed, and we had no problem opening two 24-25 inch suitcases. Toiletries can be picked up from the lobby on the first floor. Check-out was very convenient using the self-service machine."

AapplezsqAn absolutely fantastic hotel! Everything, from the facilities and amenities to the exceptional service, was top-notch. Its location is incredibly convenient for exploring Ninen-zaka, Sannen-zaka, and Kiyomizu-dera. Nestled in a quiet spot amidst the bustling city, it's ideal for a city walk through the charming old town. The ambiance was so evocative, it made me feel like I was stepping into a Japanese movie scene – truly wonderful.
Breakfast was exquisitely delicious and authentically Japanese. A special shout-out to the lovely lady at the restaurant who thoughtfully wrote me a postcard in Chinese when we checked out – it was such a wonderfully warm gesture. The afternoon snacks and the bar area were also very comfortable and inviting. The spa facilities were quiet and elegant, providing a perfect retreat to relax and unwind after a long day.
Japanese politeness is truly ingrained in their culture. While some might find formal politeness a bit distant, I view it as a beautiful way to create a pleasant and harmonious environment for everyone. I absolutely loved my stay and will definitely be returning.

MM501724****I stayed in a twin tatami room on a ladies-only floor. There aren't many rooms on each floor, and the shared restrooms, vanity area, and shower rooms are all accessible via key card through one main entrance. These shared facilities were spacious and immaculately clean. This was my first experience staying in a hotel with shared bathroom facilities, but my stay was very comfortable and peaceful. The subway station is right outside the hotel, and a bus stop is just a five-minute walk away. It's less than a 20-minute walk from JR Kyoto Station, and you'll pass Higashi Hongan-ji Temple on the way.
There are many izakayas and Japanese restaurants in the vicinity. The Wagyu beef I had on my first night was absolutely amazing. If the weather isn't too hot, you can walk to popular sights like Kiyomizu-dera, Sannenzaka, and Hanamikoji in about 20-30 minutes. If you get tired, there are plenty of bus stops along the way. A bus ride costs 230 JPY, and I used my digital Suica card to simply tap and go. Fushimi Inari Shrine is also easily accessible; you can take the subway from the station right outside the hotel, and it's a very short ride. When I was in Osaka, I didn't carry any cash at all, relying entirely on my digital Suica card for all transactions.

MMel.amEnjoyed the racing of laundry machines daily while I was there, there are always many people waiting to use it.
Anyway, generally a very cosy hotel. The rooms are not big, but not as small as Tokyo’s same price point.
Breakfast menu doesn’t change, except for their Kyoto dessert of the day. Maybe they do change their menu, but at least not that I know of, I was there for a total of 5 days
P.s: There’s a clam ramen stall just beside the hotel that’s always queueing. Pls don’t queue, it’s really not fantastic. If the queue is less than 5 people, that means it will probable be 30-40mins, you can give it a try. Otherwise, don’t bother. It’s not worth it.

PPanjinxielingyunThis is my third visit to Kyoto, and having always stayed near Nishi Honganji Temple, I can confidently say this is the best hotel I've experienced so far in the area. I stayed here for four consecutive nights this time, and my overall experience was excellent. The breakfast spread was extensive, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It seemed to attract a lot of Western guests, and they offer a convenient shuttle service to Kyoto Station. I felt it offered excellent value for money, and I highly recommend it. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit.

First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional design and comfort your property offers. Kengo Kuma’s architectural brilliance, with its use of natural wood, thoughtful lighting, and integration of art pieces, creates a stunning and serene atmosphere. Additionally, the comfort of the rooms, the quality of the materials, the size of the beds, and the premium linens were truly impressive. In terms of design and comfort, your hotel sets a remarkable standard.
However, I did encounter several service-related issues that I believe could be addressed to enhance the overall guest experience. I would like to share these points in the hope that they are helpful for future improvements:
1. Breakfast Lounge and Sushi Area: The proximity of these two areas creates a strong odor upon entering, which can be unpleasant. Improved ventilation could easily mitigate this issue.
2. Food and Beverage Service After Breakfast: The lack of food and beverage service after breakfast hours was inconvenient. At the very least, providing a space for guests to enjoy tea or coffee would be a welcome addition.

Jjennifer.luThe biggest highlight of this hotel is having a washing machine in the room, which is really a lifesaver when staying here in the summer. Plus, there's complimentary coffee and tea available at the front desk, which is very convenient.
The only downside is that daily housekeeping isn't provided; they only replace towels and empty the trash.
The hotel's location is excellent. There's a 7-Eleven and a Xijiang BBQ restaurant right next door, and Karasuma Oike subway station is just a 100-meter walk away.
Great restaurants like Fiveran and Menya Yukou are also within 100 meters. This is definitely a must-stay hotel when visiting Kyoto.

3320558****The hotel is quite a distance from both the subway station and the main shopping street, making shopping quite inconvenient. Even the bus stop requires about a 100-meter walk and crossing an overpass. They offer a public bathhouse with separate sections for men and women. The water was quite clean, and it felt incredibly relaxing to soak in after a long day of walking. My room, located on the 9th floor, had a distinct urine-like odor when the air conditioning was turned on. The smell only dissipated after I used the air purifier. The included buffet breakfast had a rather limited selection of items. On a positive note, there's an excellent ramen shop located right downstairs from the hotel, which is definitely worth a visit.
