"A decent old five-star hotel, about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station. The hotel also offers a free shuttle bus to Kyoto Station, and the service is good. However, the breakfast for a five-star hotel was a bit simple. The price was also a bit high on weekends."

"First off, the location is excellent, right across from Hankyu Arashiyama. We came from Kyoto, and there's a direct bus from our Kyoto hotel, so we took the bus. We checked in at 3 PM, dropped off our luggage, and then went to explore around Togetsukyo Bridge. We also had tickets for the Arashiyama Scenic Railway at 2:30 PM. For dinner, we had two time slots, 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM; we chose 5:30 PM, and the dinner was fantastic. The hotel also offers a late-night snack. The private onsen baths were busy at night, so we opted for the public bath, which was empty since we went early. The next morning, we chose a private bath. This stay included two meals, and we had plenty of time, so it truly felt like a vacation. Oh, and there's a tea bar on the first floor; I love mocha or cocoa. After the evening bath, there are popsicles, and after the morning bath, there's lactic acid drink. It's wonderful!"

"I felt super lucky to snag this hotel in September 2025 on a Friday night for just USD $70 a night (including accommodation tax)—probably about one-third of the usual price. We booked a twin room, and by Japanese standards it was really spacious. I could fully open my 28-inch suitcase without blocking the walkway. The bathroom had a separate shower and bathtub, which was great. Funny thing—the two beds had noticeably different firmness levels, so if you’re traveling as a pair, I’d suggest testing them out first and picking the one that suits you best. The room had a mini-fridge (no freezer), plus a capsule coffee machine and bottled water. If you need more water, the front desk will happily provide extra. On the 3rd floor, the executive lounge offers cookies, candies, and soft drinks from 2pm, along with red and white wine. In the evening, they even have a free marshmallow roasting experience by the fireplace—it was super cozy. The location couldn’t be better—right in the heart of Kyoto’s shopping area, just a 5-minute walk from Kawaramachi Station Exit 1A. In front of the hotel, there’s a big artificial lawn where you’ll often see people hanging out and relaxing."

"First off, check-in was a mess. I had to queue twice. The first time, it was understandable as we arrived at noon and rooms aren't ready until the afternoon. They had us fill out a bunch of paperwork, passport verification, etc., then we left our luggage and went shopping. But when we went back in the afternoon to get our key cards, we had to queue AGAIN and fill out even more paperwork! Couldn't they have just done it all at once? We were already tired! It was so frustrating; these two check-in processes wasted an hour of our time! The hotel's efficiency is terrible! And I noticed they were all over the Western guests, helping them with their luggage, but completely ignored us Chinese guests!"

"The location is absolutely unbeatable – incredibly convenient for getting anywhere. It's truly super comfortable, easily one of the best hotels I've stayed at recently. The high-ceilinged lobby was wonderfully cool and had a lovely fragrance. Our room also had a pleasant, subtle woody scent. The bed was soft yet firm, and the lighting was cleverly designed to be bright and warm without being harsh on the eyes. Crucially, the bathroom shower had fantastic water pressure, making for a really comfortable wash, and the hairdryer was excellent too. **Facilities:** Brand new and impeccable – couldn't ask for more. **Cleanliness:** Spotless. As someone with a dust mite allergy, I had no issues with rhinitis during my entire stay. **Service:** The 24-hour front desk provided prompt responses and truly excellent service. This stay was absolutely worth every penny. The soundproofing was superb; even with motorcycles revving on the street below, the noise was barely audible. Plus, the blackout curtains ensured the room was completely dark. If I didn't have other plans, I would have gladly extended my stay indefinitely, even if it meant commuting an hour daily to other areas. It's also very close to Yakiniku Kou, which is delicious. Nishiki Market is great for exploring too. I'll definitely be back. In fact, I'd even plan another trip to Kyoto just to stay here again."

"This is my third visit to Kyoto, and having always stayed near Nishi Honganji Temple, I can confidently say this is the best hotel I've experienced so far in the area. I stayed here for four consecutive nights this time, and my overall experience was excellent. The breakfast spread was extensive, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It seemed to attract a lot of Western guests, and they offer a convenient shuttle service to Kyoto Station. I felt it offered excellent value for money, and I highly recommend it. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit."

The spirit of hospitality in the heart of Kyoto. Kyoto, the thousand-year capital. Located near the old Kyoto Imperial Palace in what once was the heart of the capital city. Sanjo Street, a street at the intersection between history and modernity. Now home to Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Sanjo PREMIER to open this summer.

"The location is excellent. We didn't take the subway, but noticed a subway station nearby. Kyoto isn't huge, so hailing a taxi right outside was very convenient. The room was quite spacious, and the bed was large, easily accommodating two people. We didn't opt for breakfast, but there's a bakery to the right when you exit. Their morning sandwiches were excellent, though the coffee was just average. Turning right out of the hotel, you'll find plenty of shops. If you turn left out of the hotel and then left again, there's a two-story fresh food supermarket, making it very convenient to pick up groceries. Additionally, we booked a private onsen. It cost 600 RMB for two hours, and the mini-bar was complimentary. The small pool was perfect for a family to enjoy together."

LLiujingyanWe chose a large corner room with windows on both sides. The hotel building has a history of more than 200 years. The location is great. It is right at the entrance of Kiyomizu Temple Commercial Street. It is quiet in the bustling city. The hotel is very quiet and elegant, with high-end decoration, complete facilities and excellent service! Breakfast is served in a library-style restaurant, which is very special. I highly recommend Japanese breakfast. Everyone thinks it is high-end Japanese cuisine when they post it on WeChat Moments. There are also vegetarian and children's meal options for breakfast. I also strongly recommend the window seat in the executive lounge. Drink Japanese tea or Japanese whiskey in the afternoon and look at the quaint buildings outside. It is worth the effort!

AapplezsqAn absolutely fantastic hotel! Everything, from the facilities and amenities to the exceptional service, was top-notch. Its location is incredibly convenient for exploring Ninen-zaka, Sannen-zaka, and Kiyomizu-dera. Nestled in a quiet spot amidst the bustling city, it's ideal for a city walk through the charming old town. The ambiance was so evocative, it made me feel like I was stepping into a Japanese movie scene – truly wonderful. Breakfast was exquisitely delicious and authentically Japanese. A special shout-out to the lovely lady at the restaurant who thoughtfully wrote me a postcard in Chinese when we checked out – it was such a wonderfully warm gesture. The afternoon snacks and the bar area were also very comfortable and inviting. The spa facilities were quiet and elegant, providing a perfect retreat to relax and unwind after a long day. Japanese politeness is truly ingrained in their culture. While some might find formal politeness a bit distant, I view it as a beautiful way to create a pleasant and harmonious environment for everyone. I absolutely loved my stay and will definitely be returning.

MMy WanderlistI had an excellent stay at Fauchon. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality. The hotel staff were also incredibly attentive and polite throughout our stay. My room was small but comfortable, featuring modern and luxurious amenities that were stylishly pink in colour and comfortable bedding. The attention to detail in the room was impressive, with thoughtful touches including a whole array of complimentary cookies and cake. Breakfast was served as a set menu and selection was limited and basic but expertly prepared and presented. The hotel's location was also perfect for me because it is situated right in the heart of Kyoto yet away from the crowded spots with excellent access to public transportation. The bus station is right in front of the hotel, the nearest train station is about 10 mins walk and the hotel is approx 15 mins walk to Kawaramachi Street (shopping area). Just behind our hotel is the river and all the restaurants. Our room has the mountain view.

IInna70Top end hotel of all we tried while traveling around Japan. Large room, spacious bathroom, good quality beds and pillows. Convenient central Kyoto location, next to subway station and in close proximity to many local attractions. If you a keen runner, there is a beautiful run and walking route around the river and map is provided by hotel. Breakfast was reasonable prices with good verity of both western and Asian food. There was a separate Japanese breakfast restaurant but we were not confident enough to try it as we don’t know the routine and etiquette well enough. (First time in Japan) We walked from the hotel to Geisha district and explored nearby parks. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from and a full street of souvenir shops. Next door there is a spirit shop, which is not busy and this is where in a non crowded atmosphere I got good advice and bought a preferred bottle of Sake. Glad I did it in Kyoto because when we returned to Tokyo airport the choice was limited, all duty free shops were overcrowded by stressed tourists trying to buy gifts at last minute before departure. Highly recommend this hotel for your stay.

MMiwangdenvhuangdiThe location is superb, right by Kyoto Station and just a two-minute walk from the exit. As a designer hotel, it certainly met expectations; the staff's strong service-mindedness made for a very comfortable stay. However, the lack of basic amenities such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shower caps, and cotton pads was a letdown. For a supposed five-star hotel, I found this to be incredibly cheap. Especially considering the high nightly rate; a two-night stay certainly wasn't inexpensive.

GGuest UserOnline hotel bookings can often feel like a blind box draw, but Dusit Thani was definitely the right pick. Every staff member I encountered had an excellent attitude, the room was spotless, and even though the turndown service only provided a bottle of water, it was a pleasant and thoughtful touch. Thai brands truly excel in their service consciousness and aesthetic sense. The room itself was incredibly comfortable, and with no other guests in the public lobby areas, I thoroughly enjoyed the bliss of reading a book alone.

__WeChat20061****Hotel Granvia's location is absolutely fantastic! It's right on the second floor, accessible by elevator on the left once you enter the main entrance of Osaka Station. Plus, there are several other entrances, making it incredibly convenient to get anywhere. Even just around the hotel, there's so much to explore. Inside the station, you'll find both Isetan and Porta shopping malls. The ramen at Ramen Street on Isetan's 10th floor is also delicious – I recommend the tantanmen; it's spicy and incredibly satisfying! When checking out, I bought a Hello Kitty Haruka e-ticket directly on Klook, and I could just scan my phone to enter and exit. The entrance is also right downstairs from the hotel, directly opposite the Kyoto Station entrance. If it's your first time visiting Kyoto, I highly recommend staying at Hotel Granvia.

QQiangqiangmiaoGiven its non-cancellable policy, I hesitated for a long time when planning my trip, but ultimately decided to spend our last two nights here. We loved our stay so much, we didn't want to leave – I really should have booked it for our entire stay from the beginning! Despite the lack of an onsen (hot spring), the bedding was incredibly comfortable. After a tiring day of sightseeing, sleeping felt like floating on clouds, which was pure bliss. The photos really don't capture all the details. The bathroom was quite spacious, and all facilities were impeccably maintained. I didn't have high expectations for breakfast, which included options like stir-fried fresh mushrooms, Japanese chazuke, and Western-style dishes. However, the quality and flavor were undeniably excellent! They offered salmon sashimi, various other fish, bacon, ham, stir-fried mushrooms, and stir-fried chicken. For drinks, there was a good selection of fruit juices, and the fruits included grapefruit, grapes, bananas, and pineapples. The location is incredibly convenient. Keihan Sanjo Station and a bus stop are merely 80 meters away. We were able to walk to various attractions like museums, Ninen-zaka, Sannen-zaka, and Takashimaya. Getting to areas like Arashiyama by subway was also very quick. It was surprisingly quiet during the day. At night, just across the road, the bars along the Kamo River were bustling with activity. Yet, we experienced absolutely no noise in our room at night. The staff were exceptionally warm and friendly. When we first arrived, we struggled to find the entrance and ended up at the back door. By chance, we encountered a staff member just starting their shift, who personally escorted us to the front desk. Later, the front desk staff also personally guided us to the mother-and-baby room on the basement floor. These small details truly demonstrated the high quality of their service.

AAhmet ZekiDear Sir/Madam, I recently had the opportunity to stay at your hotel, and I would like to share my experience with you. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional design and comfort your property offers. Kengo Kuma’s architectural brilliance, with its use of natural wood, thoughtful lighting, and integration of art pieces, creates a stunning and serene atmosphere. Additionally, the comfort of the rooms, the quality of the materials, the size of the beds, and the premium linens were truly impressive. In terms of design and comfort, your hotel sets a remarkable standard. However, I did encounter several service-related issues that I believe could be addressed to enhance the overall guest experience. I would like to share these points in the hope that they are helpful for future improvements: 1. Breakfast Lounge and Sushi Area: The proximity of these two areas creates a strong odor upon entering, which can be unpleasant. Improved ventilation could easily mitigate this issue. 2. Food and Beverage Service After Breakfast: The lack of food and beverage service after breakfast hours was inconvenient. At the very least, providing a space for guests to enjoy tea or coffee would be a welcome addition. 3. Room Service Availability: After a long journey, I was surprised to learn that room service was unavailable and that only rice balls could be provided. Expanding room service options would greatly improve the guest experience. 4. Flexibility with Breakfast Hours: Due to the time difference, I arrived slightly late for breakfast at 10:10 AM and was informed that nothing could be served. Even my request for tea did not receive a clear response. Greater flexibility in accommodating guests dealing with jet lag would be highly appreciated. 5. Lobby Services: The inability to offer anything to drink or even host a guest in the lobby felt restrictive. This could be improved to make the lobby a more welcoming space. 6. Spa Experience: I was unable to experience the renowned Banyan Tree spa as it was fully booked. Expanding spa reservation availability would help meet guest expectations for this signature offering. In summary, while the hotel excels in design and comfort, the service offerings seem to be constrained by rigid rules and limited hours, which can detract from the overall guest experience. I strongly believe that adopting a more flexible, guest-centered approach would significantly enhance satisfaction. If the above issues were addressed, I would certainly consider staying at your hotel again during my next visit to Kyoto. Once again, I want to thank you for the exceptional design and comfort provided during my stay and hope that these suggestions contribute to further elevating your standards. Best regards, next visit to Kyoto.
