Hotel near Kawaramachi,Kyoto
The Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Kawaramachi Jokyoji is an ideal spot for travelers wanting to discover the city. Visitors to Kyoto will find that the Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Kawaramachi Jokyoji is a fantastic accommodation choice. The hotel offers easy access to Shijo Kawaramachi, just 100m away. Just a short walk from Shijō Metro Station, traveling to most city destinations is a breeze. With Minamiza Theater, Kenninji Temple and Sannenzaka & Ninenzaka all within a short distance, there is no shortage of things to do in the area. When guests have some time on their hands they can make use of the onsite facilities. Germaphobes can rest easy - the level of cleanliness is highly rated at this hotel. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.

"This hotel is in a great location nearly next to Nishiki Market. Around the hotel is very quiet. The room we received was facing the graveyard, I’m not sure why there are so many negatives reviews about it but we had no problems with it. No ****** visited us😋😅 The bed was very spacious but a little hard. The pillows were also quite hard so we woke up sore a few times… overall the room was very clean and amenities were available downstairs if needed like toothbrush or qtips. The staff were very kind and brought our luggage to our room before we arrived through luggage forwarding. After check out, they also allowed us to store it in the back for a few hours."

Hotel near Kyoto Station and surrounding areas,Kyoto
With a stay at The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Umekoji in Kyoto (Shimogyo Ward), you'll be within a 5-minute drive of Kyoto Tower and Shijo Street. This hotel is 1.5 mi (2.4 km) from Kawaramachi Street and 2.2 mi (3.6 km) from Nishiki Market. Make use of convenient amenities such as complimentary wireless internet access, concierge services, and a banquet hall. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Make yourself at home in one of the 246 guestrooms featuring refrigerators and flat-screen televisions. Complimentary wireless internet access keeps you connected, and cable programming is available for your entertainment. Private bathrooms have complimentary toiletries and bidets. Conveniences include phones, as well as safes and electric kettles.

"Out of all the hotels I stayed at during this trip to Japan, the The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Umekoji, considering its location, room, breakfast, ambiance, and price, is definitely the best value for money in my opinion. First off, the location is truly excellent. The hotel is right next to Umekoji-Kyotonishi Station, just one stop from Kyoto Station on the JR line. When you're dragging luggage, this “almost right at the hotel once you get off the train” location is incredibly convenient. Even though it's not directly in Kyoto Station, I never felt the transportation was inconvenient; in fact, it was nicer to be away from the hustle and bustle of the station area. The hotel itself is located within the Umekoji Park area, and the surroundings are very pleasant. The Kyoto Railway Museum is right next door, and the Kyoto Aquarium isn't far, making it particularly suitable if you're traveling with kids. And here's a very interesting feature – trains. Many rooms directly face the railway, allowing you to watch various trains come and go from your window while lying in bed. For railway enthusiasts, this might be far more exciting than a regular city view room. Exploring temples in Kyoto during the day and then returning to your room at night to watch trains entering and leaving Kyoto Station is quite a unique experience offered by this hotel. The room itself was also quite satisfying. Hotel rooms in Japanese cities are generally on the smaller side, but the rooms here are comparatively spacious for a hotel of similar price in Japan. You can open your suitcase without feeling too cramped, and the bathroom is also generously sized, giving you plenty of space to shower comfortably. At first glance, the breakfast area didn't seem large, but after actually eating there, I found the layout to be very efficient. The counter space is utilized very well, and there's a wider variety of food than expected. The breakfast certainly doesn't feel skimpy just because the dining area isn't huge. For those who need a hearty meal before a day of sightseeing, it's perfectly adequate. There's also a small detail in the lobby that left a lasting impression on me: They actually have a 'Densha de GO!' train driving simulator! You can hop on and drive a train or two while checking in or waiting for others, which is especially great for families with kids, as it keeps them entertained during waits. Combined with the nearby Kyoto Railway Museum and the constantly passing trains outside the rooms, this hotel truly seems to have mastered the “railway element.” Additionally, there's a FamilyMart convenience store on the first floor of the hotel. Whether you need to buy drinks or snacks at night, or grab a few last-minute items in the morning, you don't have to go far. After traveling for over ten days, you realize that seemingly insignificant amenities like this are actually incredibly practical. If I had to find a flaw, I'd say its biggest “problem” is that it's easily underestimated. When you first look at the map, Umekoji-Kyotonishi might not seem like the most central location in Kyoto; but once you actually stay there, you realize Kyoto Station is just one stop away, the JR line is right at your doorstep, and the park, railway museum, and aquarium are all nearby. Plus, the rooms are more spacious than many hotels in central Kyoto. Paying a little less for a “prime location” premium actually results in a more comfortable stay. That's why, among all the hotels we stayed at during this Japan trip, I would rate this one as: The best value for money. If I come back to Kyoto in the future and the price is right, I would very likely stay here again. I especially recommend it for families with children, railway enthusiasts, and anyone planning to use the JR line for travel around Kyoto."

"Booked this during the rainy season for just over 300 [currency unit], which is excellent value for money. I was very happy with the room assignment; high floor with a great view, and even though it's street-facing, it wasn't noisy. The facilities were excellent. The area nearby is a well-established residential neighborhood, not overly touristy, which is perfect for experiencing local life."

"Very good hotel, and very good onsen. The room is a little bit small as all rooms in Japan, but the location is very useful. Also has a huge supermarket near the hotel which was so practical some days to get dinner or breakfast. Also they have a bike renting service, which we used one day and was very good price."

"In general it's clean, only lots of dust under the bed. The location is quite okay, next to the metro stop and old Town. many convenient stores around. The staff were all very nice and helpful. There is free Matcha experience, happy hours drinks, free water, karaoke and udon noodles. Something not so nice: air conditioner went off every few hours, room air quality is always bad, need to use purifier for a long time. We booked five nights for three people, at the beginning only two persons' supplies, we had to ask for pillows, towels and etc for the third person. After three days, we request a room cleaning, same problem again. It would have been nice if we can have what we have booked. Breakfast was a little pricy and just very ordinary Japanese hotel food. Only two washing machines and the hotel system and staff doesn't seem to handle the cues very well. many people cue up with their laundry bags there and the ones who were ready, no one pick them up. Not so nice hotel experience because of these things."

Located in Kyoto's Higashiyama Ward, MR.T Kamogawa East 12 offers a great stay experience for those traveling for fun or business. This property also offers free luggage storage.

"A wonderful new hotel! The best we've stayed in in Japan so far. The rooms are clean, beautifully designed, the air conditioning works perfectly, and the room is spacious at 23 square meters. This wasn't easy to find within our budget. The receptionists are very nice and helpful. 👌 The room has a great hair dryer, perfect for styling. There's also a fully equipped kitchen and a great coffee machine. The train station is a 20-minute walk away, and the city center is a bus ride away. But the hotel is in a cozy, quiet residential area. The supermarket is a 7-minute walk away. We're very happy! 😊"

"We wanted a hotel in Gion with a public bath/onsen and Kyoto Granbell fit the bill. Originally we booked a moderate twin 18m2 but I was worried it would be too small so we upgraded to the Japanese twin 22sq meters and it was exactly what we wanted. The room was spacious and felt very comfortable. We had enough room to spread out and it feel like we were on top of each other. The lobby area is great with free coffee and snacks & wifi. We didn’t do breakfast but it looked good. I used the onsen every day and it was great! Fully stocked with shampoo, lotion, q tips, cotton pads, water station. Small but functions and very beautiful. The location was the best! Two doors down from En en for great Gyoza, 5 min walk to Hiniku to come, around the block from Pizza Stada, and a couple blocks from the bus station & the Main Street in Gion. Staff were lovely & spoke pretty good English. Comparable to Coutryard Marriott. Highly recommend. Would stay again."

This onsen hotel in Kyoto was a delightful find. It's just one stop from Kyoto Station, and only 200 meters from the exit, making it super convenient. As a traditional Japanese onsen hotel, guests can enjoy complimentary access to both public and private hot spring baths, available 24 hours a day. They even offer complimentary ramen as a late-night snack after 9 PM, which is a lovely touch. There's a 7-Eleven right outside and a bus stop nearby, making it easy to get around and explore areas like Kawaramachi for shopping and dining. Highly recommended, I'd definitely stay here again.

The room's cleanliness was, as always, excellent, and it was quite spacious. We booked a twin room, and the beds could be pushed together. However, the bathroom was exceptionally small, making it difficult to place toiletries, including cups and razors, freely. There's a self-service laundry room and an ice machine. The room only provides two bottles of water, and there's no water purifier. Although the bathroom sign indicates the water is drinkable, it actually has a strong chlorine smell, which persists even after boiling. This isn't very practical for those accustomed to bottled mineral water or water purifiers in their home country. All toiletries were provided, but I have two main complaints: the toothpaste came in a tiny 2x1 cm paper sachet, which was incredibly inconvenient – small, hard to tear open, and difficult to squeeze out. It was quite an experience! Secondly, unlike the first hotel we stayed at, there were no bath salts provided. Transportation is extremely convenient, with Kyoto Station directly across the street. Check-in was also easy, and our luggage was automatically stored by the front desk upon arrival.

Delightful. My room had its own Zen garden outside on the 5th floor. I wanted to experience a traditional Tatami mat room. Bed was made for me at 7PM. Due to age a bit hard to turn on/off the lights since I had to get up to turn them on and off. Japanese bath was splendid as well. Spotless. Enjoyed a 6 course dinner - was unbelievably good.

Great hotel room, spacious and comfortable . Beds were soft and the toilet was big with two separate places to shower , sink and the toilet itself . Remember to close the window of the bathtub otherwise people can see you taking a shower (even it is far distance).  The onsen was great with sauna, cold onsen, outdoor natural hot springs and indoor.  The negative point is that every floor they have smoking área and the smell of cigarette was in my room every night . We had to turn on the a/c and the air purifier and in the next day ask staff to keep the windows opened for ventilation . The location is privileged just ten minutes walking from the train station.   There are supermarkets nearby and it is quite convenient to eat around , with meals of all ranges of prices .

Superb experience in Nohga. Everything here has been curated very carefully, you can tell the people or group behind this whole hotel concept really put in so much thought for their guests. Absolutely loved my entire stay here. I eat breakfast at their bakery every morning. Love their customisable bagels, mortadella sandwich, salted bun and cinnamon mochi donut. Chocolate mochi donut was a little too sweet. Americano and matcha latte were great. Thoroughly enjoyed their rooftop bar every night (opens till 12am). Awesome vibes, very romantic atmosphere. Staff are sweet, gives heat packs and blankets to keep us warm. Warm cocktails are a must during winters. You can order any random cocktails and they all taste so good. The distance from the train station to this hotel is quite a distance but I think the overall experience you get in this hotel makes the walk a worthwhile one. Def recommending this hotel to my friends who wanna come to Kyoto.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had a wonderful stay at Tokyu Stay Kyoto Sanjo-Karasuma. The location is excellent—situated in a quiet and pleasant Kyoto neighborhood while being just a short walk from Karasuma Oike Station, making it easy to get around the city. There are also plenty of cafés, restaurants, convenience stores, and shopping areas nearby. The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the service throughout my stay was excellent. The room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped. Having a washer-dryer and microwave in the room was especially convenient for a longer stay. Despite the central location, the hotel was peaceful at night, allowing for a good night’s sleep. Overall, Tokyu Stay Kyoto Sanjo-Karasuma was the perfect base for exploring Kyoto. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

Room was clean and spacious enough for two people. There was also a table with two chairs in the room, which was very convenient for me to work at during the evenings. The staff were very kind and helpful. Complimentary amenities were available in the common area, and guests could request pajamas from the reception desk. I forgot to bring a plug adapter and asked to borrow one from the receptionist. Fortunately, they had one available and lent it to me free of charge. The location is convenient, about a 7–8 minute walk from Sanjo Station and the Kamo River. It is also close to a bus stop, about a 5-minute walk away, making it easy to get to Gion. The breakfast offered a good variety of options. There were both Japanese and international dishes, and the quality was good and well-prepared. I enjoyed staying and just realised I didnt take any photos of the room but nutto during breakfast…🤣

The hotel's location is great, right in front of Kyoto Station. If you exit from Hachijo-guchi South Exit, it's only a 5-minute walk. The hotel entrance isn't very noticeable, and there's no lobby on the ground floor, so it's easy to miss. Check-in is on the third floor. I arrived quite early, so I dropped off my luggage and went out to explore. Check-in is at 3 PM, and check-out is at 11 AM. The room isn't large, but unlike many Japanese hotels, it has a separate wet and dry area, and the toilet is also in its own room. The bathtub is larger than most hotel tubs. The breakfast ingredients were also quite fresh. They provide a check-in guide in Chinese, which is very convenient, even if your English isn't perfect. The only drawback is that the cleaning wasn't thorough enough. I'm a bit of a germaphobe, so I always inspect the room. I found residual hair in the bathtub and stains on the toilet seat. I put on gloves and disinfected everything twice with alcohol wipes. I hope the hotel improves its cleaning standards; otherwise, I'm quite satisfied with everything else.

We stayed at Hotel Gracery Kyoto for two nights and overall had a very comfortable stay. The hotel has two sections, and we stayed in the South building. The room was very clean, and the space was used efficiently, which is typical for Japan. The bathroom layout was a bit unusual. The toilet and shower are separate, which is convenient, but the toilet cubicle itself is extremely small. The shower is positioned in an odd space between the bath and what seems to be the shower floor, and the shower head cannot be adjusted up or down. That said, the water pressure and temperature were excellent, which made up for the layout. Bottled water was provided on the first day, which was appreciated. The TV, however, was very limited with only Japanese channels and no access to Netflix or other streaming services. The location is excellent. The hotel is right by Nishiki Market and surrounded by shops and restaurants, with multiple subway lines nearby. There are also many fantastic local restaurants in the area, which we highly recommend, especially when the market gets overwhelmingly busy. The hotel provides a wide range of amenities in the lobby, including face wash, toner, lotion, razors, combs and mouthwash. While convenient, the large amount of individually packaged items does not feel particularly environmentally friendly. We checked out the breakfast one morning but decided not to purchase it as it was 2750 yen per person, and there are plenty of better and more affordable options nearby. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and we also appreciated that the hotel offers free umbrella use on rainy days, which was a thoughtful touch. One downside was the room cleaning timing. We left early in the morning and only returned after 3pm, but the room was still being cleaned when we got back. We were asked to wait around 30 minutes, which was quite inconvenient after a long day when we wanted to rest, shower and freshen up before heading out again. Overall, a clean and well-located hotel with a few minor design quirks and service timing issues, but still a very pleasant stay.

I stayed for 4 nights from January 4 to January 8, 2026. From the hotel, you can walk to Nijo Castle in about 10 minutes. There are many small convenience stores nearby (7-Eleven and the like), as well as two large supermarkets — Life is open until midnight, which is a huge plus. You can buy nice gifts for friends and family late in the evening without wasting daytime hours. The transportation access is great too: within a few minutes' walk there's a subway station and a JR line (convenient for coming from the railway station), and right next to the hotel there's a bus stop. This is important because Kyoto's sights are scattered all over the city, and you often need to use public transport or taxis. Speaking of taxis. Twice I asked the reception to call me a taxi, and both times the staff helped me — a huge thank you to them! It was especially important on the first day: thanks to a taxi, I made it to Kiyomizu-dera Temple in time and explored it without rushing. Check-in was very quick, and the staff explained where everything was. The room was quite spacious — or maybe it just felt that way. I comfortably unpacked my suitcase and took out everything I needed without feeling cramped. The room had all the essentials, and there were kettles near the elevator that you could take to your room if needed. I did, and had some tea before bed (on the first floor, you can grab a free tea bag if you don't have your own). The air conditioner worked for both cooling and heating — which was very useful on some evenings. Honestly, I only used the hotel to sleep, and it was perfectly fine. Every morning, breakfast is served on the first floor. To be honest, I expected something simple since the room rate was quite affordable. That's why the breakfast was such a pleasant surprise! My eyes wandered every morning at the variety of delicious food! A huge selection. Every day I had rice with various toppings, amazing salmon, cod, and various vegetables (the okra here was especially good). There's a small smoking room on the first floor with good ventilation. My overall impression of the hotel is extremely positive. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Kyoto.
