"You can bring one child under 12 for free. The transportation is also quite convenient, just a few bus stops from Kyoto Station. I remember there was a large FamilyMart right next to me, and a 7-Eleven at the intersection, as well as a LIFE supermarket. The hotel has a large public bath, and although the pool isn't big, it's still a nice way to relax in the evening. In the lobby on the first floor, they offer free iced coffee and iced water every day, which is super refreshing! I would consider staying here again next time I visit Kyoto. If it's a voucher for around 200 per night, it's a great deal, but anything over 500 wouldn't be worth it."

"The front desk had English-speaking staff who were very proactive and helpful with check-in. Unfortunately, that person wasn't there during check-out, and the others weren't as good. The hygiene was excellent, and the location is great, right next to Kyoto Station with a convenience store downstairs and a large department store across the street. However, the breakfast experience was really bad. It was too crowded, and we had to queue for a long time to get food. The seating area was also quite far from the serving station. They should really consider staggered dining times."

"This was the cheapest hotel I booked in Japan, costing just over 200 [currency unit] on a weekday. I didn't have high expectations, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise! The hotel is conveniently located very close to Gojo Station and has a modern feel overall. There's a bar and restaurant on the ground floor. Check-in was almost entirely automated, which was quite a novel experience. The front desk staff spoke good English, and I noticed a fair number of international guests. The room, for Japan, was not small and was very clean; two people could comfortably open two suitcases without an issue. The bathroom was large with excellent wet/dry separation, and the sink was conveniently located outside, making it easy for two people to use simultaneously. There were plenty of charging ports, a TV, and the complimentary water was also good. We had a very enjoyable two-day stay in Kyoto!"

"First off, the location is excellent, right across from Hankyu Arashiyama. We came from Kyoto, and there's a direct bus from our Kyoto hotel, so we took the bus. We checked in at 3 PM, dropped off our luggage, and then went to explore around Togetsukyo Bridge. We also had tickets for the Arashiyama Scenic Railway at 2:30 PM.
For dinner, we had two time slots, 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM; we chose 5:30 PM, and the dinner was fantastic. The hotel also offers a late-night snack. The private onsen baths were busy at night, so we opted for the public bath, which was empty since we went early. The next morning, we chose a private bath. This stay included two meals, and we had plenty of time, so it truly felt like a vacation. Oh, and there's a tea bar on the first floor; I love mocha or cocoa. After the evening bath, there are popsicles, and after the morning bath, there's lactic acid drink. It's wonderful!"

"The service was excellent; the front desk staff were very welcoming and even offered complimentary spa baths and bar access. The views are great, and you can easily walk to many peaceful attractions from here. It's also very close to the subway station, and they provide a free shuttle service to Kyoto subway station. The location is perfect, offering a quiet escape while still being central. I would definitely stay here again if I have the chance."

"First off, check-in was a mess. I had to queue twice. The first time, it was understandable as we arrived at noon and rooms aren't ready until the afternoon. They had us fill out a bunch of paperwork, passport verification, etc., then we left our luggage and went shopping. But when we went back in the afternoon to get our key cards, we had to queue AGAIN and fill out even more paperwork! Couldn't they have just done it all at once? We were already tired! It was so frustrating; these two check-in processes wasted an hour of our time! The hotel's efficiency is terrible! And I noticed they were all over the Western guests, helping them with their luggage, but completely ignored us Chinese guests!"

"The hotel's location is excellent. There's a shopping mall within a 10-minute walk, and the high-speed train station is also close by. On the first floor, guests can enjoy a public bath and sauna facilities. Washing machines are available on both the first and sixth floors. The food at the downstairs restaurant is only average, and I haven't had a chance to try breakfast yet due to the frequent long queues. However, despite these minor drawbacks, the value for money here is excellent."

"It satisfied my long-cherished wish to live in a tatami room. The room has the smell of bamboo or grass, which is very nice. There is a teapot and small desserts in the room.
The location is just opposite the central exit of Kyoto Station. You can go around from Lawson on the west side or cross the road from the underground to the opposite side (but there is no elevator upstairs, which is not convenient for luggage). It is convenient to take a bus or JR. The subway and Shinkansen are a little further away.
The bathroom has a bathtub for soaking, but the only inconvenience is that there is a risk of slipping barefoot in the bathroom.
I didn't buy breakfast when I booked the hotel. I wanted to book it on the spot and asked about it, but I found out that it can't be booked on the spot because they need to prepare the amount of food in advance.
The hotel is free to store before check-in on the day, and free to store until 3 pm after check-out. 300 yen will be charged for overtime.
You need to take off your shoes and wear their slippers when you enter the lobby of the hotel. Shoes are stored in the shoe cabinet next to the front desk."

GGuest UserThe location is excellent. We didn't take the subway, but noticed a subway station nearby. Kyoto isn't huge, so hailing a taxi right outside was very convenient. The room was quite spacious, and the bed was large, easily accommodating two people. We didn't opt for breakfast, but there's a bakery to the right when you exit. Their morning sandwiches were excellent, though the coffee was just average. Turning right out of the hotel, you'll find plenty of shops. If you turn left out of the hotel and then left again, there's a two-story fresh food supermarket, making it very convenient to pick up groceries. Additionally, we booked a private onsen. It cost 600 RMB for two hours, and the mini-bar was complimentary. The small pool was perfect for a family to enjoy together.

MMy WanderlistI had an excellent stay at Fauchon. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality. The hotel staff were also incredibly attentive and polite throughout our stay.
My room was small but comfortable, featuring modern and luxurious amenities that were stylishly pink in colour and comfortable bedding. The attention to detail in the room was impressive, with thoughtful touches including a whole array of complimentary cookies and cake. Breakfast was served as a set menu and selection was limited and basic but expertly prepared and presented.
The hotel's location was also perfect for me because it is situated right in the heart of Kyoto yet away from the crowded spots with excellent access to public transportation. The bus station is right in front of the hotel, the nearest train station is about 10 mins walk and the hotel is approx 15 mins walk to Kawaramachi Street (shopping area). Just behind our hotel is the river and all the restaurants. Our room has the mountain view.

As a designer hotel, it certainly met expectations; the staff's strong service-mindedness made for a very comfortable stay. However, the lack of basic amenities such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shower caps, and cotton pads was a letdown. For a supposed five-star hotel, I found this to be incredibly cheap. Especially considering the high nightly rate; a two-night stay certainly wasn't inexpensive.

GGuest UserOnline hotel bookings can often feel like a blind box draw, but Dusit Thani was definitely the right pick. Every staff member I encountered had an excellent attitude, the room was spotless, and even though the turndown service only provided a bottle of water, it was a pleasant and thoughtful touch. Thai brands truly excel in their service consciousness and aesthetic sense. The room itself was incredibly comfortable, and with no other guests in the public lobby areas, I thoroughly enjoyed the bliss of reading a book alone.

__M1358591****It seems 99% of hotels in Japan only have bathtubs. I spent ages searching online for a hotel with a proper shower and finally found the Hilton, but sadly, it was fully booked. So I checked out the Preylia Hotel just across the road. It turned out to be quite good, offering both a bathtub and a separate shower, which made for a very comfortable bathing experience. The cleanliness was also excellent. A slight downside was that the floor-to-ceiling windows couldn't be opened for ventilation. The street along the Karasuma Line is lined with hotels, and I'd frequently hear sirens blaring past midnight, making it difficult to get a peaceful night's rest.

QQiangqiangmiaoGiven its non-cancellable policy, I hesitated for a long time when planning my trip, but ultimately decided to spend our last two nights here. We loved our stay so much, we didn't want to leave – I really should have booked it for our entire stay from the beginning!
Despite the lack of an onsen (hot spring), the bedding was incredibly comfortable. After a tiring day of sightseeing, sleeping felt like floating on clouds, which was pure bliss.
The photos really don't capture all the details. The bathroom was quite spacious, and all facilities were impeccably maintained. I didn't have high expectations for breakfast, which included options like stir-fried fresh mushrooms, Japanese chazuke, and Western-style dishes. However, the quality and flavor were undeniably excellent! They offered salmon sashimi, various other fish, bacon, ham, stir-fried mushrooms, and stir-fried chicken. For drinks, there was a good selection of fruit juices, and the fruits included grapefruit, grapes, bananas, and pineapples.
The location is incredibly convenient. Keihan Sanjo Station and a bus stop are merely 80 meters away. We were able to walk to various attractions like museums, Ninen-zaka, Sannen-zaka, and Takashimaya. Getting to areas like Arashiyama by subway was also very quick. It was surprisingly quiet during the day. At night, just across the road, the bars along the Kamo River were bustling with activity. Yet, we experienced absolutely no noise in our room at night.
The staff were exceptionally warm and friendly. When we first arrived, we struggled to find the entrance and ended up at the back door. By chance, we encountered a staff member just starting their shift, who personally escorted us to the front desk. Later, the front desk staff also personally guided us to the mother-and-baby room on the basement floor. These small details truly demonstrated the high quality of their service.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at your hotel, and I would like to share my experience with you. First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional design and comfort your property offers. Kengo Kuma’s architectural brilliance, with its use of natural wood, thoughtful lighting, and integration of art pieces, creates a stunning and serene atmosphere. Additionally, the comfort of the rooms, the quality of the materials, the size of the beds, and the premium linens were truly impressive. In terms of design and comfort, your hotel sets a remarkable standard.
However, I did encounter several service-related issues that I believe could be addressed to enhance the overall guest experience. I would like to share these points in the hope that they are helpful for future improvements:
1. Breakfast Lounge and Sushi Area: The proximity of these two areas creates a strong odor upon entering, which can be unpleasant. Improved ventilation could easily mitigate this issue.
2. Food and Beverage Service After Breakfast: The lack of food and beverage service after breakfast hours was inconvenient. At the very least, providing a space for guests to enjoy tea or coffee would be a welcome addition.
3. Room Service Availability: After a long journey, I was surprised to learn that room service was unavailable and that only rice balls could be provided. Expanding room service options would greatly improve the guest experience.
4. Flexibility with Breakfast Hours: Due to the time difference, I arrived slightly late for breakfast at 10:10 AM and was informed that nothing could be served. Even my request for tea did not receive a clear response. Greater flexibility in accommodating guests dealing with jet lag would be highly appreciated.
5. Lobby Services: The inability to offer anything to drink or even host a guest in the lobby felt restrictive. This could be improved to make the lobby a more welcoming space.

KKC333We loved our stay at Hotel the Mitsui. Super nice and zen design . Absolutely adore their lobby area, which I think is designed by Andre Fu. Always drawn into his work somehow.
Breakfast food was okay, but the view really made up everything l. Super relaxing & beautiful
Service was great. Most of them were able to speak English proficiently.
There’s a thermal spring at their basement, which you have to call the reception before you go to ensure there’s enough space. Everything was well prepared, including swimwear, disposable underpants, towels, water, etc. Since they control the # of people, everyone has their own space and it still feels very private.
Room is nice with many details. Love their huge selection of pillows available for guests. It’s not huge, but the space is well used.
Location wise, I wouldn’t say it’s the most convenient, but if you take a cab, everything is reachable in 20 mins max, so it’s not too bad. There are still good restaurants and touristy places to go that are in walkable distance, so it’s not middle of nowhere.
Overall, fantastic experience which I will recommend for others!

LLinh CCould have give it 5stars if the bathroom is clean and not smell urine so bad. Others than that breakfast was awesome, Customer service was top not, location is perfect to go everywhere. Also they said they have bus service every 15 minutes to Kyoto station which is not true, we waited forever 1.5 hours or so, but they never came. We saw others hotel busses came by several times. I didn’t confront this to the front desk tho. We was taxi everywhere and it was cheap, furthest would be 20 minutes taxi drive and about 3,000 yen which is reasonable.
