"The Grand Hyatt Kunming is a five-star hotel that opened last year in Kunming. It was meant to be the newest five-star hotel, but with the opening of the Shangri-La this year, it no longer holds that title. The hotel is located near Dongfeng Square, and the building itself is very tall. If you drive up, you'll see a fountain at the entrance, but it's not a traditional one; instead, it's one of those modern ground-level types where water jets out from various points. Entering through the main door, you're greeted by the hotel's iconic sight: a grand, high arched design. Above it, there's a crossbeam with a jade slab on one side and a sculpture on the other. The entire design is very impressive and makes for a great photo opportunity. Continuing inside, you arrive at the hotel reception, which also serves as the check-in desk. A distinctive feature is the chandelier behind the reception desk; from a distance, it looks like calligraphy brushes hanging on a rack, a thoughtful touch. On the other side, there are two sets of sofas, and behind the set at the far end, there's an interesting decoration that appears to be made from a carpet-like material. Between the reception area and the elevators, there's a hallway. It's clad entirely in dark wood, creating a profound and luxurious feel. At the end, a large marble slab serves as decoration, contributing to the overall sophisticated atmosphere. Taking the elevator up to the room, I noticed that each elevator lobby is adorned with small podocarpus trees, which is a charming and ingenious detail. Today, I'm staying in a junior suite. Upon entering, the first thing you see is a small antechamber. By the window in this area, there's a sofa paired with a round table and an armchair. Welcome fruits and snacks were already laid out on the table; the snacks were fried potato chips and cashews, and the fruits were very fresh. As they are local Yunnan produce, they tasted excellent. Moving into the bedroom, the design is very well-balanced and stable. In the center is a double bed, facing a television. Behind the bed is a floor-to-ceiling glass window, offering views of the adjacent garden and some stone houses. To the side, there's a door that opens into the bathroom. The bathroom features a large washbasin, with a shower on one side and the toilet on the other. The entire space is very generous, making for a comfortable shower experience. Besides the room, I also checked out the hotel's public areas. First, the swimming pool. It's a long, rectangular pool with plenty of natural light streaming in from the side. Interestingly, there are several rooms that connect to both the swimming pool and the spa. There's also a gym. Overall, the public facilities are quite comprehensive. Breakfast is served on the fifth floor in a buffet style, offering a wide variety of food. Generally speaking, apart from the more distant InterContinental, the Grand Hyatt is a very good five-star hotel in Kunming. The newly opened Shangri-La this year has roughly doubled its prices. If you're looking for a newer five-star hotel with better value for money, the Grand Hyatt remains an excellent choice."

"The hotel is conveniently located near the main road, and the front desk is on Level 2. Just like many other hotels in China, they allow early check-in, which is one of my favorite things 😊. However, if you plan to visit Nanping Street, you'll need to book a Didi, as it is not within walking distance."

"Flying home from Kunming, I booked the Chengji Hotel near the airport. The front desk service was excellent. There were only two breakfast vouchers for my family of three, but seeing that my child wasn't so little, they gave us an extra breakfast voucher. The room was very comfortable, and there's a washer and dryer, which is a must-have for me when choosing hotels for travel. It gets so hot in the summer that you sweat easily, and clothes can start to smell if not washed promptly. Without a dryer, they won't dry, but this hotel has four dryers available."

"This is a newly opened hotel with a unique design. It's very clean and has no strange odors. The room I stayed in was spacious and comfortable, though the bathroom was a bit small, which wasn't a major issue. It was quiet, and I slept very well. On the second floor, there's a well-equipped gym, laundry facilities (washer and dryer), a billiards room, and a card/board game room. The breakfast on the first floor is plentiful and features local specialties like douhua rice noodles and xidoufen rice noodles. The service was excellent; they even gave us a small gift when we checked out."

Most hotel staff greeted guests politely. However, there were several issues that I hope the hotel can address to further improve service quality. 1. **Consumables:** Room amenities were not replenished promptly or were missing entirely, such as bath towels, soap, snacks, and fruit. 2. **Service:** Room cleaning was not timely; one day, it wasn't done even by 4 PM, which was very inconvenient for guests. We had to call the butler service to get someone to clean it. 3. **Hygiene:** During my multi-day stay, the bed linens were not changed for four consecutive days. 4. **Soundproofing:** The sound of showering from the room upstairs at night significantly disturbed my sleep."

"Upon checking in, I realized I had made a mistake with my booking dates, but the hotel staff promptly resolved the issue. Since my reserved room type wasn't available, they upgraded me for free to a family room and a suite at the original room's price. A big thumbs up to their service! The rooms were clean and tidy, and the location is super convenient, very close to MixC. I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time I'm in Kunming. 👍"

"The hotel's overall design seems quite old, and I'm not sure if it's been renovated since. However, the hygiene was good, the service was fine, and the breakfast was excellent with lots of local dishes. Although the hotel garden isn't very large, it has many small animals, making it perfect for kids. There's also a family of black cats, which are incredibly cute. It's a shame the pool wasn't usable; considering Kunming's temperatures, it probably only gets a few usable days a year, which feels like a bit of a waste."

It offers good value for money and is always my top choice when I visit Kunming. It's very convenient for food, accommodation, and getting around. It's just a short walk to Kunming Oriental Plaza, Spring City 66 (the twin towers), Nanqiang Street, Nanping Street, Kunming Old Street, and Shuncheng Shopping Center. The breakfast buffet is extensive, and I highly recommend their flower cakes and 'Crossing the Bridge' noodles – they're delicious! 👍"

This made me instantly feel the sincerity and care of the hotel. The upgraded suite is spacious and bright, with a reasonable space layout, and every detail reveals exquisiteness and care. The soft and comfortable mattress allows me to sleep peacefully after a tiring journey; the high-quality toiletries, exuding a faint fragrance, bring me a baptism of body and mind. The room is also equipped with smart devices, which are easy to operate, allowing me to feel the warmth of home while enjoying modern technology. Natural landscape: Wonderland in the snow, like a dream This stay coincided with the snowfall that Kunming had not seen in decades. The whole city was covered with a layer of white snowflakes, like an ice and snow kingdom in a fairy tale. The natural environment around the hotel adds a bit of poetry to this snow scene. The hotel is located halfway up the mountain and is surrounded by dense forests, as if it is a paradise hidden between the mountains and forests. Standing on the terrace of the hotel, looking around, the trees all over the mountains are covered with thick snow, and the branches are full of crystal clear icicles, shining brightly under the sun, like a beautiful ink painting. The mountains in the distance are looming in the snow and fog, like a fairyland, which makes people feel relaxed and happy. Summary Kunming Henian Banshan Forest Hotel is not only a place to stay, but also a poetic and warm home. Here, I enjoyed a comfortable accommodation environment and charming natural scenery. This stay gave me a full sense of happiness and satisfaction, and also made me love the city of Kunming more deeply. I believe that whenever I come to Kunming again, Henannian Banshan Forest Hotel will be my choice without hesitation."
