Hotel Indigo Hainan Clear Water Bay draws inspiration from the idea of an “Ocean’s Treasure Boutique,” reimagining the ancient marine lifestyle of the Dan people through the lens of contemporary minimalism. Designed by the acclaimed Mr. Yang Bangsheng and his internationally awarded firm YANG Design Group, the hotel embodies a poetic dialogue between island charm and neighborhood storytelling.
Inside the hotel, pearl-inspired lighting casts a gentle glow, while blue-white tones and coral-hued furnishings echo the natural palette of Hainan’s reefs. Guestrooms fuse modern art trends with traditional Li brocade weaving and rattan craftsmanship, vividly interpreting the Dan people's dual lifestyle philosophy of “farming the sea and living between land and water.”
At the hotel’s Intrigue Restaurant, local Hainanese flavors meet modern culinary innovation to deliver creative dining experiences. A range of resort facilities — from a Lazy River and Infinity Pool to a Spa, Children's Club, and The Fit — provide well-rounded relaxation. Through curated neighborhood experiences led by local "neighborhood hosts," guests are invited to explore Lingshui Old Street, Coconut Island, and traditional intangible cultural heritage, gaining deeper insight into Hainan’s history, culture, and human stories — all in true Indigo spirit.
"Facilities: One of the reasons I chose Indigo was because it's a new hotel with a stylish and artistic decor. Plus, the pool has a lazy river and a water play area, which is really fun and perfect for kids! It turned out to be an excellent choice, even better than I expected. Both the adults and kids had a fantastic time, and it truly felt like a vacation.
Cleanliness: The hotel was very clean, both in the public areas and the guest rooms. The entire hotel had a pleasant fragrance, which I loved. Housekeeping was also very prompt.
Service: Before my trip, I often saw complaints on Xiaohongshu about Indigo's service being poor. However, our actual experience was quite good. Every staff member we encountered was lovely; they always greeted us kindly. A staff member contacted me the day before check-in to ask about our estimated arrival time. We wanted to arrive before a typhoon hit, so we got there a little before noon and were able to check in smoothly. Our room was already ready. Danny was very responsive and helpful via WeChat. On our last day, they even tried to help us request a late check-out. There was turn-down service every night, which was a thoughtful touch. The day before check-out, they even brought us some delicious mini cakes.
Food: Breakfast ends at 11 AM, which is perfect for us late risers, and it was genuinely delicious! There were many Hainanese specialties, and they even had fried ice cream at breakfast, which my daughter absolutely loved. We all enjoyed our breakfast every day.
Overall, we absolutely loved this hotel. Having visited Sanya several times, this is definitely my favorite. If I come back, I'd most likely choose to stay here again!"
