Grand Mercure Xian on Renmin Square is housed in a low-rise heritage building built in 1957 on the sprawling grounds of Renmin Square Xian. With a Sino-Russian style façade, the structure is a charming blend of old, classic architecture and modern, sophisticated facilities. Hotel has 194 rooms and suites decorated in traditional Oriental style, complemented with essential amenities that enhances its boutique heritage charm. Adjacent is the Sofitel, offering guests the access to several facilities of gourmet dining and entertainment options.

"This is an interesting hotel within the Renmin Square precinct. It is not actually a 'people's square' in the conventional sense but an official precinct of grand sandstone and marble buildings erected in 1957. The buildings are majestic but the interiors are a little dated and tired. Our rooms were well furnished with very comfortable beds, well-functioning heating, air conditioning and bathrooms. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, and assisted us with tourist information and transport. Breakfasts were good with a reasonable variety of dishes. Rooms were suitable serviced each day. I liked the quiet atmosphere of this hotel, its landscaped surroundings, and its close proximity to the CBD. It took us 20 minutes to walk to the Bell Tower and 30 minutes to the ancient city wall. Some of the staff spoke fluent English which was very helpful. We would definitely stay here again."

"I paid an extra 400 RMB to upgrade to a suite, which not only included breakfast for three and a complimentary non-alcoholic mini-bar, but also more than doubled the size of the room. The butler confidently said I'd be very happy with it, and he was right. I was excited from the moment I walked in – it was absolutely perfect. The huge balcony offered a panoramic view of Qujiang Pond, and even though I don't usually enjoy baths, the oversized bathtub made me want to take one. The amenities were also a step up, with wooden-handled toothbrushes and shaving foam, which weren't available in the standard rooms. Before heading back to the room in the evening, I could go to the first-floor bar for a couple of complimentary cocktails, and upon returning, I found some complimentary snacks. The next day's breakfast was incredibly rich, with a wide variety of local Xi'an delicacies all in one place. I heard the pool and gym are also superb, but I didn't have time to experience them. Overall, I'll definitely choose this place first on my next visit to Xi'an. Oh, and there's an 'urgent' button on the phone, and the service response was prompt – kudos to them!"

"This is a famous hotel in Xi'an, historically known for catering to international guests. The facilities are excellent, and the rooms are spotlessly clean. The beautiful surroundings, with their lush greenery, made for a pleasant stroll with our child. The service staff are highly attentive and professional. A special shout-out to the duty manager on Friday; she was absolutely amazing. She not only resolved our problem and eased our worries but also upgraded us to a suite. Her patience with guests was remarkable. We'll definitely be staying here again on our next trip."

"The standard is Hilton’s so overall very good. Some staff speaks English, which was handy, and overall the personnel was very kind and pleasant. The breakfast is amazing. Only down sides: managing the light switches in the room is somehow complicated and the room we got, despite it being at the 5th floor, was a bit noisy: sound isolation from the window is not great. But overall a very pleasant experience."

If you demand a high level of service, our guests have indicated that this hotel has excellent standards. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.

"My overall experience at this five-star hotel was absolutely wonderful. I especially loved the marshmallow-soft bed – once you lie down, you won't want to move! It provided excellent relaxation for my tired body after a full day of exploring the Terracotta Warriors. I always enjoy staying in hotels with unique and stylish designs, and I took many photos here because every corner was exquisitely beautiful. The hotel boasts an excellent central location, right next to the bustling and vibrant Grand Tang Dynasty Everbright City. Despite its prime spot, it was incredibly quiet in the room – I couldn't hear any noise from outside the window while sleeping. Occasionally, I'd hear conversations from people passing by in the hallway, but it wasn't disruptive. The suite was spacious, and the in-room amenities were comprehensive, including an iron and ironing board. The only minor suggestion would be to upgrade the quality of the combs provided, which would make it even more perfect. Breakfast was served until 10:30 AM, which I found very thoughtful as it allowed for a leisurely 'beauty sleep' before heading down to enjoy a late breakfast. The restaurant staff were welcoming and helpful, and there was a wide array of delicious dishes. Despite my 'eyes being bigger than my stomach,' I managed to pick my favorites and arrange a delightful plate. As I arrived late, the staff had already begun clearing up and cleaning as breakfast service concluded. I enjoy taking photos, and after finishing my meal, I wanted to capture some shots of the restaurant's ambiance. I noticed the staff, having finished cleaning, were diligently preparing and arranging the dishes for lunch. During the time I spent taking photos, I inadvertently observed the professionalism and high standards of the restaurant staff. In the bread and western food section, a young chef was meticulously setting up the bread display. His full protective gear – hat, mask, and gloves – was impeccable, which immediately reassured me about the hygiene standards. He politely moved aside when he saw me taking photos. Later, as he placed a chef figurine and prepared to leave, I gestured for him to be in a picture. He very cooperatively posed. The photo showed him using his gloved right hand to arrange the bread, while his ungloved left hand was behind his back (he had been wearing gloves on both hands earlier and likely removed one after finishing the display). This small detail underscored his meticulousness and commitment to hygiene. After taking the photo, I thanked him, and he politely replied, 'You're welcome.' I also want to mention another detail I observed: while he was arranging the display, an older, presumably senior chef came over and made some minor adjustments to the arrangement. This chef moved all the food items slightly forward and meticulously explained to the young chef that placing them closer to the front would make it more convenient for guests to access them. All these small details I witnessed truly showcased the professional quality of the staff. Thumbs up!👍 If any hotel staff read this review, please extend my high praise to both chefs in the restaurant. I hope it encourages them to love what they do even more, knowing that their efforts are seen, appreciated, and applauded. Finally, I had misremembered the check-out time. I was leisurely packing my bags, thinking check-out was at 2 PM. Around 1 PM, the hotel front desk proactively messaged me on WeChat, asking if I needed assistance with a late check-out. Upon learning I was leaving, they also asked if I required a concierge colleague to help with my luggage. The high-quality, polite, friendly, and enthusiastic service from all staff members made me feel truly valued and provided a VIP experience. Additionally, the hotel features its own museum with beautiful exhibits. It's a wonderful place to quietly admire the items and discover the beauty in each one – you're sure to find something you absolutely love. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel ✔️ and look forward to staying here again! Goodbye Xi'an, I will definitely be back."

Non-smoking rooms are also available.Guests can dine on Asian-Chinese fusion cuisine with a touch of French flair in Xi'an 57 or enjoy a buffet breakfast at Xi'an Café starting from 6am. All come equipped with the necessary equipment for meetings or events, including services like simultaneous translation.A fitness center and massage service in the hotel spa are also available.

"After searching for a long time online, I found this garden-style hotel. I originally booked Building 3, but the hotel upgraded me to Building 2 (Xi'an Luxury Mercure People's Building). The hotel was originally a guesthouse of the provincial government, hidden in the garden, with a calm architectural style and has gone through the years. The interior decoration is full of Chinese cultural heritage, simple, low-key and meaningful. The check-in environment is quiet and tidy, and the surrounding transportation is convenient. The service is polite and makes people feel at home. Special praise for the three service staff Lu Feifei, Ren Huanting and Wang Yiming. Suggestions: 1. Add some local special snacks (mini version) to breakfast to increase the experience of tourists; 2. Set the breakfast to be flexible (that is, you can book it after staying, or cancel a meal temporarily), so that guests can go out to experience Xi'an's folk morning market."

Known as ‘the cradle of Chinese civilization’, Xi’an is the ancient provincial capital of Shaanxi located in the central-northwestern region of China. With a history that spans thousands of years, Xi’an is one of China’s four ancient capitals and former home to thirteen imperial Chinese dynasties. The city marks the eastern end of the ancient Silk Road and today is a key crossroad to one of the country’s most important trading corridors. Located in the central business area of Gao Xin District, The Ritz-Carlton, Xi’an boasts a privileged access to a variety of historical and cultural sites, including the legendary Terracotta Warriors, Great Wild Goose Pagoda and old City Walls. Designed by Remedios Studio, the hotel’s interior design pays homage to architectural and design elements drawn from the history and culture of Xi’an. Patterned motifs created by local artisans offer a unique social meeting space for visitors as well as the local community.

"We were extremely satisfied with our stay. From the moment we stepped into the hotel, all the staff were incredibly warm and attentive, providing impeccable service. Sophie, in particular, genuinely values the guest experience and is always eager to listen to feedback. The room itself was elegant and comfortable, offering a breathtaking view, especially as dusk settled and the city lights illuminated the ancient city, creating a truly mesmerizing nightscape. The spa and pool provided the perfect sanctuary to unwind after a busy day. Without a doubt, this hotel sets the benchmark for luxury accommodations in Xi'an. We will certainly choose to stay here again on our next visit."

"We chose this hotel for our honeymoon. We were initially hesitant about staying at the Grand Hyatt due to its distance from most attractions, but ultimately decided on it because of the spacious rooms. Kelsey contacted me a day before our arrival. Upon learning it was our honeymoon and that I'd ordered flowers and a cake, she thoughtfully offered to sign for them and place them in our room in advance. She even went the extra mile by decorating the room beautifully and leaving a hand-drawn card. She was also incredibly helpful, resolving all our questions and issues during our stay. Kelsey truly deserves a shout-out, more so than the hotel itself! When hotels are otherwise comparable, service is what truly sets them apart. The breakfast selection was quite limited, but their Roujiamo (Chinese meat sandwich) was hands down the best I had during my four days in Xi'an! The same young chef who prepared Shuipen Yangrou (lamb soup) on the morning of the 16th and Roujiamo on the morning of the 17th was truly the star of the breakfast service! He was incredibly patient, meticulous, and always went out of his way to accommodate various requests. His excellent service completely erased my initial disappointment with the otherwise limited breakfast options."

"Last time I visited Xi'an, I stayed at the InterContinental. This time, looking for a new experience, I opted for the Xi'an Hai Rong JW Marriott Hotel. It just goes to show, there's always something better out there; Chinese hotels are truly raising the bar! We drove to the hotel, and the parking lot, which is shared with adjacent office buildings, offers complimentary parking. Metro Line 4 is within walking distance, offering convenient access to Xi'an City Wall and Daming Palace. A large shopping mall right next door adds to the convenience. The lobby features soaring high ceilings and an open layout. The 'Ten Thousand Horses Galloping' art installation on the first floor is quite artistic and playful. The sky lobby on the 38th floor beautifully blends traditional Chinese elements with modern design. Inside the rooms, thoughtful Terracotta Warrior-themed decorative details subtly highlight the region's unique heritage. Guest rooms are generously spacious, and the twin beds are 1.35 meters wide, which is perfect for families traveling with children. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and floor-to-ceiling windows filled the room with ample natural light. The night view from our 34th-floor room was particularly captivating. The bathroom features a smart wet/dry separation and boasts luxurious marble finishes. The bathtub even came equipped with bath salts, a nice touch. A 500 RMB deposit was required upon check-in, primarily for potential minibar charges. As we stayed on an executive floor, we had access to the executive lounge. While the variety of food wasn't extensive, the quality was consistently high. The evening happy hour, in particular, offered a diverse selection of hot dishes and tempting desserts. The main breakfast buffet, blending Chinese and Western options, was exceptional. Local specialties like Hulu Tou and Rou Jia Mo were incredibly authentic and delicious. It's truly not to be missed, offering an extensive variety of choices and excellent flavors that our child absolutely loved. Service was consistently prompt and efficient, with attentive care provided throughout our entire stay, from check-in to check-out. We'll definitely choose the JW Marriott again on our next visit to Xi'an. It truly lives up to the top-tier Marriott standard. And finally, regarding the price: for less than 1,000 RMB, you can indulge in a day of luxurious living – truly a fantastic value!"

"🚇The hotel is near Metro Line 4, and the North Railway Station is directly accessible by subway, which is very convenient for travel. 🏠The hotel is decorated in European style, luxurious and atmospheric. This decoration style looks a bit old now, but the overall facilities are well maintained, and various advanced equipment are also available, such as artificial robots, which are safe and convenient for delivering takeout and express delivery. Although the room is a bit old overall, there is no problem with hygiene. It is clean and tidy, and the lighting is also very good. The cost performance is still very high. The service of this hotel is also quite good. Many details show that the management is very attentive. Welcome tea is prepared in the lobby. The young man at the door sees that he is carrying large luggage and actively offers help. The front desk is also full of handsome men and beautiful women. Not only are they good-looking, but their service attitude is also very good, which makes me feel very comfortable."

Excellent
MMuwangningThis has to be the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The only minor downsides were the mattress being a bit firm and the pillows not being very soft. However, the excellent service and environment perfectly compensated for this. The service truly made us feel at home; every detail treated guests like returning royalty. Upon entering the Huaqing Palace scenic area from the hotel, we were given a special 'pass' that signified our guest status. The service began the moment we checked in. We had electric cart transfers throughout our stay, and the room was tidied three times. The first was before we even arrived, with welcome fruit and help with our luggage – a basic amenity for a five-star hotel. The second time, after my partner and I returned from sightseeing, we found the air conditioning pre-heated, the bed made, and the private hot spring already filling up. This was a delightful surprise. The third time, after an excellent experience watching the 'Song of Everlasting Sorrow' from our front-row seats, our room had been tidied again, and hot tremella soup was left for us to enjoy after our soak. When we overslept the next morning, breakfast was delivered right to our room. The food was delicious and clearly not just some pre-made meal; it was thoughtfully prepared. The hotel restaurant also exceeded expectations. I hadn't anticipated much, thinking it might be a casual eatery, but the steamed fish with persimmon vinegar was absolutely stunning. The hotel staff were always responsive to our needs and incredibly attentive. We will definitely return. It was a wonderfully happy travel experience. (The photoshoot was also perfect; the photographer was great at capturing emotions and very skilled).

XXiaoqiyaWe stayed for two nights, on the 16th and 17th. On the 15th, I received a call from the hotel asking about our room preferences. I requested a room with a good view, non-smoking, and quiet. When we checked in, the staff assigned us room 213. This was the lowest floor I've ever stayed on in a hotel, and it was room number 13! I was surprised that the hotel actually had a room 13! How could an international hotel like this assign room 13 to a foreigner? During afternoon tea that day, besides my husband, myself, and an Asian mother and daughter, all the other guests were foreigners. This made me realize even more why I was so unlucky to get room 13! This hotel has such a unique room number 13, and they treat their own compatriots differently from foreigners! However, the smart toilet in room 13 was broken. It wouldn't automatically lift the lid or flush when you stood in front of it. What was even more unbearable was that as soon as you sat on it, the toilet would make a loud gurgling sound and automatically spray water on your backside. We tried it twice, and it happened both times. Also, the light switch was malfunctioning and didn't work. As a result, our room was changed to room 206. Neither room 13 nor room 06 had a French garden view; you could only see trees outside the window. Room 06 overlooked a concrete platform. I stayed during the off-season, and there were only a handful of guests at both afternoon tea and breakfast. Even during the peak breakfast time at 8 AM, there were only four tables with no more than ten guests. In such an off-season, why couldn't they offer us a higher floor with a better view? The male butler from the hotel called in advance on the 15th to ask about my room preferences; wasn't that just being insincere and fake? The staff's service level was inconsistent. Two female servers at afternoon tea and breakfast simply didn't observe guests' needs. The slim, tall female server in the afternoon tea restaurant had an ice-cold expression and no proactive service awareness. One female server in the breakfast restaurant looked like she hadn't woken up yet, with messy hair, no makeup, and ill-fitting work clothes, completely lacking the demeanor of a star-rated hotel employee. More importantly, this server didn't proactively observe guests' tables. Every time, we had to call her to take away the empty plates. Even more exaggerated, when she took away empty plates, she wouldn't simultaneously take away empty cups, nor would she think to ask. Let's talk about the problems with the breakfast restaurant: First, the flowers on the dining tables were fake! For a 'diamond-level' hotel like this, how can they put fake flowers on the tables? If they want to save costs, there are many ways: place some air plants or soilless succulents, or even small, easy-to-care-for plants. Anything real would be more tasteful than these fake ones. Regardless, a 'diamond-level' hotel should not have fake flowers on its dining tables. This is disrespectful to guests. Second, there was a wide variety of bread, but no chain-type toaster to heat the bread. This is usually a staple at the bread station in five-star hotels. Yet, at this 'super five-star' hotel, you can only eat cold bread for breakfast. Third, the restaurant only provided toothpicks, not dental floss sticks. Nowadays, even very ordinary restaurants offer dental floss sticks. A 'diamond-level' hotel like this should provide guests with dental floss sticks, and ideally, toothpick brushes. Additionally, the steps in the bathrooms of both room 13 and room 06 were damaged. In room 13, the hotel actually used cheap, uneven gray adhesive corner guards, which looked very out of place and clashed with the exquisite French decor. They should have used brass stair nosings! During my two-day stay at the hotel, Ms. Doris Du's kindness, politeness, proactive work attitude, and professional image left a very good impression on me. After we checked in and received our key, she led us to our room. She first gave us a tour of the hotel and introduced its history. On the day we checked out, she happened to be on duty at the front desk. She was the only staff member at the hotel who immediately stood up to greet guests upon seeing them! The only one! This small professional gesture of hers was like the first ray of sunshine in the morning, warming my heart! Recalling my check-in, there was a male and female staff member at the front desk. They did not stand up to greet us when guests checked in. When we received our room cards and got up to leave, they remained seated without moving. This is disrespectful to guests. Staff should stand up to greet guests when they arrive, ask them to sit down, and then sit down themselves to process the check-in. When guests receive their room cards and get up, the staff should also stand up to see them off. Such basic courtesies of polite welcome and farewell were completely lacking! On the day I checked in, I had two items of clothing that needed ironing. The female staff member who was on duty at the front desk that day came to our room to collect them. During the process of opening the door to see her, handing her the clothes, and briefly communicating with her, she maintained an ice-cold demeanor throughout, without a hint of a smile. She was not the only female staff member in this hotel who provided service without a smile. In summary, all these issues, and more, expose the hotel's unprofessional training and inadequate management. Sofitel Legend People's Grand Hotel Xian is not directly affiliated with the Sofitel group; it is part of the People's Grand Building owned by Shaanxi Urban Investment and Operations Group Co., Ltd., and is operated by AccorHotels, a French hotel management group. Therefore, the experience was vastly different from the Sofitel hotels I've stayed at abroad.

TTerryXYanThis is one of the nicest stays foe me in Xi'an in recent memory. The hotel was at a great location and staff were extremely helpful. I had a request to print few pictures from my iPhone, the gentle man in the service desk on June 28 went above and beyond to help me download the pictures and reformat them and print out! He even went to office to photo copy another set of the picture for me. I really appreciate the help. The food was great also, and enjoyed it very much. I missed the bar at the 51st floor. I had good time there listening to music and live show many years ago before the COVID-19. Anyway, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who comes to Xi'an. A job well done, thanks. Terry Yan

MM608009****The hotel's interior is excellent, with complete and well-maintained facilities. The rooms are practical and show great attention to detail. For example, they feature a scenic balcony with a small table and chairs, and a temporary mini-safe. The surrounding area is also very good; it's a suitable distance from the main road, making it very quiet inside. The hotel's exterior design is both attractive and functional, with lush greenery and clean, tidy internal pathways. The service is attentive and detail-oriented, and the restaurant food is delicious. Overall, it offers great value for money, surpassing some hotels priced over 1200 RMB.

DDapanghaierAt Angsana Hotel, the service was truly the highlight and exceptionally good. The pool was decent, and the staff were very attentive and responsible. However, some areas had exposed rocks, which posed a safety hazard; my child unfortunately scraped their ankle on one. The room design was excellent, featuring a large, comfortable bathtub. The only downsides were that some facilities definitely needed maintenance, such as a broken showerhead, and the absence of disposable nail clippers and bathtub liners. The balcony offered no view to speak of. The complimentary carousel ride and VR experience felt quite underwhelming. On a positive note, the self-service drinks at the front desk were delicious, and the snack box received upon check-in was tasty. Overall, I recommend staying one night in Lintong, as it allows you to visit the Terracotta Army at 5 PM, thus avoiding the peak crowds.

GGuest UserThe skyscraper is very large and beautiful. The rooms are nice and have all the amenities. We were given a free room upgrade. There's a beautiful pool and a gym available. Towels were changed and the bathroom was cleaned every day. Breakfast was a buffet with all kinds of food, with chefs preparing typical Xi'an dishes on the spot. Above all, the staff was very kind, accommodating all our requests and offering us yogurt drinks, desserts, and soups for dinner or a snack completely free of charge. Some of the staff speak English, but with WeChat, you can communicate with a translation tool. I recommend it! Excellent value for money.

WWenlizheThe room decor is quite unique, definitely in keeping with the Marriott brand style, as it's one of their properties. The staff were very friendly. They knew we were tourists and thoughtfully placed four bottles of water in our room – a small gesture, but much appreciated. I had booked three rooms and specifically requested them to be together at the front desk. I was told they had been arranged as such. However, even though they were on the same floor, they were quite spread out, which was inconvenient for a family traveling together. Breakfast was quite extensive, with a good variety of food. My only minor gripe is that the main dishes rarely changed; only a few vegetable options were rotated. I'd suggest they offer more variety at the live noodle station. The hotel's executive lounge is excellent. You can enjoy afternoon tea or coffee there in the afternoon, which is a definite highlight. Another nice touch is that the front desk on the third floor has direct access to the trendy bookstore next door.

MM2az5jwdx****Facilities: The gym and pool are quite large, and there's a wide variety of breakfast options, with delicious bread. Hygiene: The room was clean and spacious, and I was greeted by a pleasant scent upon entering. Environment: The hotel has a garden-style setting and is very quiet. With the rain, the lake view was incredibly atmospheric. Service: Our personal butler, Daisy, provided excellent service, responding to our needs immediately and even providing welcome fruits. Overall, the experience was fantastic, a perfect score!

AAnonymous UserThe front desk service attitude was very bad. I told them twice that the sleep quality was not good and it was best not to arrange a room near the elevator, but the waiter arranged the room near the elevator. I had to run up and down with my suitcases to change to the second room. When I opened the door of the second room, there was no electricity in the room and there was a smell. I contacted the electrician to fix the room electricity. Although it was fixed, the whole room was out of electricity when the bedside lamp was turned off. I was speechless. I contacted the front desk to change the room. She said that the room was full and it was too late, so I had to make do with it. But in the morning, I asked the hotel cleaning staff and they said there were some empty rooms. I lived there for two days in a very uncomfortable way. I don’t know if the attitude towards Ctrip users is very bad.
