"My stay here was fantastic! The room had great natural light and was incredibly clean, without any strange odors. It was well-equipped with air conditioning, a fridge, a desk, a TV, WiFi, and even a washing machine, and the room itself was very spacious. The soundproofing was excellent, so it was really quiet at night!
The hotel felt very safe too. You can't use the elevator without a room card, and food deliveries go to a locker downstairs, so even solo travelers who are a bit wary can feel secure [happy face].
The location is superb, right next to a subway station, making travel super convenient. It's also very close to Dalian Station, within walking distance.
Check-in and check-out were both quick and easy! I even asked how much it would cost to extend my stay by an hour, and the owner said it was no problem and wouldn't cost anything [rose][rose][rose].
The owner is incredibly kind. I had to leave unexpectedly and didn't have time to buy disposable bedding. I was thinking of bringing my own sheets but felt lazy and didn't want to carry them. I asked if they had any, and they gave me a disposable set for free! They even upgraded my room for free, and I could see a stunning sunrise right from my bed. The view and my mood were both perfect."

If you walk, it's about 30 minutes. There are also quite a few dining options nearby, making breakfast very convenient. All in all, it's great 🍺! "This was my second stay here, drawn by its excellent value for money: it's just a short walk from the Friendship Square subway station, and you can easily walk to Dashang Department Store and Zhongshan Square. There's a 24-hour Lawson and various breakfast shops downstairs. Although the rooms face the street, the soundproofing is excellent with the windows closed, just as quiet as the side room I stayed in last time. What deserves the most praise is its consistently cleanliness. For this price range, and considering it's not newly built or renovated, it's rare to find it so clean and tidy. Dalian truly is a place I'll never want to leave."

"Watermelon Hotel is absolutely fantastic! After one night, I extended my stay for another day. These past few days have been the coldest in Dalian this year; while it's not as freezing as Shenyang, it's still quite chilly. Staying in the warm rooms at Xigua (Watermelon) was incredibly comfortable. The heating was definitely five-star standard, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. Since I get cold easily, the enthusiastic staff even provided an extra duvet for me to sleep with. The two rotating front desk gentlemen, the two ladies, and the housekeeping staff were all wonderful. Their service attitude was incredibly warm and caring, and they enthusiastically resolved any issues I had. Plus, both times, I was lucky enough to get my favorite quiet Room 510. 🍉 When I return to Dalian, I will definitely stay at Watermelon Hotel again. It's super awesome, so good!"

There's a Lawson Hotel right next door. As for the service, well, I can't really say anything about it because, well, they're Chinese, they're always in their own little world. "The hotel accepts foreigners. Great location, a walking distance from Dalian Station, essentially on Zhongshan Square. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The room was good, there's even a washing machine (didn't use it though). The staff was kind and helpful. Perhaps the only problem was that the room card didn't work, so I had to get a password, which also expired daily at midnight, and I had to contact the reception to get a new one. But that's not how it's supposed to be, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Overall, a great option."

The front desk service was fantastic, very responsive to all our requests, and all the room facilities worked perfectly. You definitely won't regret choosing this place! It's super convenient for shopping and dining, with a 24-hour KFC, ramen, Xijiade dumplings, plenty of restaurants, and supermarkets nearby. Everything you need is easily accessible!

GGuest UserAn unexpectedly great stay! The room was spacious and bright when we walked in, and you can't beat the feeling of sitting by the window, sipping tea, and watching the sea. I was worried it might be cold in Dalian in winter, but the heating in the room was excellent. The only thing is, the wind by the sea in Dalian is incredibly strong in winter, so it was a bit chilly right by the window. The staff (a young lady) had excellent service. We arrived a little after 12 PM, and since there was a clean room available, she let us check in early. When we asked for an extra quilt later, it was brought over right away. There are so many great food options nearby! Dingxi Sea Urchin Dumplings, Nanshan Fresh Shrimp Noodles, and Well Well American Restaurant were all delicious. It's only a five-minute walk to the beach, which is a perfect spot for feeding seagulls. All in all, we got a sea-view room for five days and four nights for the price of one night during peak season – amazing value for money!

I can sum up my stay in one word: exceptional value.
The room was very spacious with a million-dollar view, all at a very friendly price. There is a washing machine in the room, and hot water was not an issue at all during winter. Just a small tip: avoid showering while the washing machine is running, as it seems to draw the hot water away. At first, I thought there was a food warmer or stove, but this room does not have one. However, the staff kindly allowed us to use the microwave at the office.
The host was incredibly helpful and always replied very quickly on WeChat — so fast that I honestly wondered if they ever slept! 😄
The bedding was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping was smooth and flexible; we could easily request cleaning or refills on the days we needed them. If there is one area for improvement, I would suggest renovating some details, such as repainting areas where the paint is peeling and re-sealing the sink edges and other parts of the bathroom.
There was a slight cigarette smell in the room, but it really depends on how sensitive you are. For us, opening the window for ventilation or using a spray solved the issue easily. Some noise from other areas was noticeable, as there is a gym on the same floor, and during our stay it was New Year’s, so there were some party noises. That said, this can happen anywhere and is not something the property can fully control.
Getting there was easy — we took a taxi directly to the hotel address. Check-in is on the 23rd floor, Room 19, where they provide the room number and access code. Wi-Fi is available, and only a passport is needed for registration. For check-out, simply notify them via WeChat.
Around the hotel, there are a few small local eateries within walking distance, though we did not notice a convenience store nearby.
Overall, I would rate this place excellent. I’m not judging it by hotel star standards, but by value for money — and what we received was far beyond what we paid for. Highly recommended!

AAnonymous UserIt was beyond my imagination. I didn't expect the decoration to be so good. It's well-decorated. You can cook, watch movies, and there's a projector. The bed is also very large. When I checked in, I told the housekeeper if I needed cleaning. I didn't clean it, and no one entered my room without permission. After I checked out, the front desk even watched my luggage for a long time. I went there in winter, and everyone says Dalian is even more beautiful in the summer. I plan to come back in the summer. If the price is acceptable, I would stay here again. It's also very close to the subway station.

Sunlight streamed into the 52㎡ space through the large windows, making it warm and bright. The washing machine, kitchen, and underfloor heating were all very practical. The free Wi-Fi was super fast, and the room was cleaned daily. They even provided toiletries and a razor! 🥹 The thoughtful details and stunning views made me want to come back again. SSimpleConvincerI had a nice time in Lazy Bill's Hostel. The check-in counter staff were very patient even though we were communicating via a Translation app and even though I don't have a local number from a Chinese mobile network. Also, the coffee shop was located just inside the hostel and it was very convenient! The coffee was delicious. The staff were very serious when it comes to cleanliness. They cleaned the room where I stayed and they mop the room and clean the rest room every day. I could not say anything more. Will I stay here again? Definitely yes! They have a mini-convenience store inside the hostel for booze, juices and water. There were restaurants and bath houses in the area. There was also a nearby KFC! The only thing that had me worried was on my way back home because the station didn't have an escalator going down.
I met a Chinese traveler of Korean descent and a local Chinese who speaks English. They were very kind.
I wish to come back to Dalian and stay in Lazy Bill's Hostel once again.

SSimpleConvincerThe staff waited for me to arrive because my flight arrived at 11:15 pm and I arrived at the capsule hotel at 12:15 am. The temperature of the capsule rooms were just right.
I love the free access to the bathhouse. The bathing facility is really clean and well maintained.
I regretted not getting body scrub and massage and I should have explored the capsule hotel more. I think there is also a restaurant in the higher floors.
Just take note that the bathing facility is open from 8 am to 12 am only.
The subway station is near as well. As a foreigner who cannot speak nor read Chinese, I am very happy that there’s a McDonalds nearby. There are also nearby marts and Chinese franchise restaurants. My stay was very short so I wasn’t able to discover the other restaurants nearby.
I would definitely book here again and I love the keychain that they gave me.
The staff were really kind.
There were some minor difficulties, such as difficulty of finding electric sockets and inside the capsule, the port was a USB A socket, but there was a phone charging station outside the rooms.
