"The hotel facilities and amenities were poor. The showerhead and power outlets were loose, resulting in weak water pressure during the shower, which exacerbated the already low water pressure. The USB connector on the outlet was also extremely loose; my phone kept getting notifications that it was plugged in, but I couldn't charge it for several hours, and the constant notifications also drained the battery. The bathroom was even worse. There wasn't a single wall hook or shelf for clothes and towels; they could only be placed next to the toilet or sink. The towel in the picture was placed next to the drain under the sink. I only stayed here to go to Hengshan the next day, since it's near the main bus station for the scenic area. The owner was also rather indifferent, only responding to questions briefly. One night is fine for getting there quickly and entering the city; it's not suitable for two nights or more."

Great location, in the heart of the historic part of the city.. Easy to get from the southern Railway station by bus number 61. Comfortable nice room, very clean. The room has a kettle, cups, and tea bags. Girl from reception was so helpful. She has given a lot recomendation for visit attractions of Datun and has helped to find a transfer to Xuankong Si Monastery."

"The hotel is surrounded by a street selling tricycles and electric cars, there are residential buildings, and there are fruit, cooked food, and breakfast at the entrance of the hotel. The room is OK, the bathroom is not separated from wet and dry, the air conditioning and cooling effect is very good, the bath water is very hot, the mineral water is not enough to drink, the service staff gave 2 bottles, the room space is not big! Overall it's OK! Take a taxi from the ancient city for about 18 yuan."

It takes tens of minutes to walk to the above attractions. The layout of the inn room is reasonable, the facilities are perfect, the bathroom is dry and wet, the room is clean, the shower water is large, there is hot water 24 hours a day, the inn staff is warm and generous, and the service attitude is very good. "During the Chinese New Year in Datong, it was almost impossible to book a room. I chose this one. It is not too far from the ancient city and the hygiene is acceptable. During the Chinese New Year, the price/performance ratio is too low... It is the standard of a small hotel. The bathroom has a serious odor and there is no way to solve it. , there is a mahjong table in the room, but it is not very clean. The boss is very nice and enthusiastic."

This stay experience is a full score! When checking in from the front desk, the staff was warm and professional, not only quickly completing the procedures, but also introduced the hotel facilities and surrounding food, making people feel at home in an instant.
The room is simply ideal, the decoration style is high-end and warm, and the details show the quality. The bedding is soft and skin-friendly, and the mattress is moderately hard and soft, which makes me sleep well all night; the bathroom is separated from wet and dry, the smart toilet and the oversized bathtub improve the happiness of staying in, and the fragrance is super healing.
The location is also super convenient, the business district is a few minutes walk, and it is convenient to travel and shop. Next time I come here, I will definitely choose this one! Highly recommended to everyone!"

The downstairs is 400 meters away from the Zini369 Coarse Grain Restaurant (Xihuan Road Store) and 100 meters away from the local specialty hand-cut noodles. The night market,, hospital, and pharmacy are all within easy reach. It is also close to the luxurious shopping mall Xinbaisheng in Datong City (1.5 kilometers, a 10-minute drive, with shared charging piles inside) and the Hualin New World shopping mall. The location is superior and the transportation is convenient The downstairs is 3 minutes' walk from the bus stop (which can go directly to the Yungang Grottoes).

You don't need to take a taxi, you can get there by bus. The little sister at the front desk is patient and enthusiastic. It should be the first choice for traveling to Datong."

"What a lovely place to stay! All the staff and the owner were really helpful and friendly. We were very pleased with the room (clean and nicely furnished). We loved the location - in an older neighbourhood with character and without enormous high-rise apartments. It was an easy walk to the old city wall (perfect for a night walk along the top of the wall to see the beautiful lights) A small challenge was finding the hotel. The taxi took us very close and then we asked one of the friendly locals. We quickly found the hotel by walking for a couple of minutes down the lane and turning right into the hotel laneway. We would definitely stay here again."

MMethilanI spent nearly a week at Datong Milan/Magnolia Hotel (Dai Residence branch) and it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay
Location:
- Nestled a quieter part of the ancient city, that provided a peaceful retreat after each day of exploring.
- 10 minutes to some of the attractions of the old town
- 15-20 minute walk to the popular restaurants and more attractions
- 30 minute walk to Huayan Temple and its nearby street markets.
I'm always happy to walk but if needed, I could always use DiDi to take me around.
Falling asleep without street noise is something I like. There is a bit of building work going nearby, which is happening all over Datong Ancient City, but nothing too major.
Nearby is the Ancient City's wall, but walk past that and you can see the locals dance in the morning in the park or walk along the canal/moat in the evening.
Room:
The room was surprisingly spacious, offering plenty of room to spread out and relax, a welcome change from cramped city accommodations. The staircase is a bit narrow, so those with lots of big luggage might struggle (no lift)
Importantly, it was very clean and well equipped. I especially liked the Chinese tea ceremony set!
Service:
- Despite a noticeable language barrier, everyone went above and beyond with smiles, helpful gestures, and clear efforts to communicate.
- Especially the manager, who told me about local food to try, things to do and asked if I needed anything. She noticed that I was bringing back leftovers from the restaurant, and bottled drinks from the shops, and said I could use the fridge.
- I can't speak Chinese so when the delivery driver came to drop off my order, the staff will take it from the reception and bring it to me.
- Unfortunately, breakfast isn't available here
- Drinking water topped up. Humidifier and mosquito repellent were provided when needed.
I will not hesitate to book here again on my next visit and I highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking comfort and genuine warmth in Datong!

AAnonymous UserBecause I like big rooms, I booked a family room, and there are extra discounts for staying for three days. The hotel is on the 20th-21st floor of a building next to Datong Railway Station. Downstairs is the Aegean Shopping Park. The second underground floor is the hotel parking lot. You have to pay the parking fee in advance and the hotel will reimburse you later. The room decoration is simple, and towels, cups and other utensils are disposable. The sanitary conditions are good. The first room assigned was next to the laundry room and had a sewage odor, so we were quickly moved to another room. There is a Tonghe Hotel near the train station, which serves authentic Datong cuisine and is not expensive. There is a Fudao Noodle Restaurant on Wuding West Street, 300 meters away from the hotel, which serves breakfast at 6:30, and it tastes good.

Hygiene: Clean, tidy, and a hotel at this price can meet such standards. I highly recommend it.
Environment: A hotel hidden in a residential area is very cost-effective, let’s not talk about the environment. If you want a high-end environment, then go for a 5-star hotel or above, but it may not be more comfortable (in my opinion).
The hotel is suitable for people who personally think that the best choice for general business travelers and couples is super cost-effective! Or those who travel in groups, those with limited travel expenses, and ordinary people!

EErol K.Incredible! The only minus is that it is not centrally located, so you'll have to take the taxi to the center (Old city), but it is in a lively neighbourhood. When you enter the building and see the elevator, you might have second thoughts for a moment (😉), but then...the ROOM! Huge, extra clean, ultra modern with brand new amenities, everything controlled at a touch of a button...Staff is very welcoming and attentive too. We loved it and couldn't recommend it more!
Note: for some strange reason, the exact name of the hotel is Karen Boman hotel not the Sheng Gloria plaza (check building photo), so don't be confused when you get to the address. The entrance is on the right side of the building.

黄黄善博The hotel was the priciest that we stayed at during our 45 days in China, though the beds, space, and bathroom were the nicest out of them all. For the price, I would’ve hoped that the staff would’ve been a bit more helpful—no elevator and many bags to carry up the three flights of stairs was really quite difficult. The staff also don’t speak any English at all, and my friend doesn’t speak any Chinese, and we didn’t really understand that you needed to put down a deposit of 100rmb that would then be refunded to you (or that they needed a Chinese phone number too; I didn’t have one, and as a foreigner traveling through China, if I had been by myself or didn’t know or have any Chinese friends with Chinese numbers, I would’ve been unable to check-in).
The hotel was very nice nonetheless. Fantastic location, very close to everything. The walk to the old city wall took about an hour, and would’ve been a ten minute taxi ride. The street the hotel is located on is full of lots of local shops and restaurants, and feels very lively during the day. The staff was also very friendly and enjoyed speaking with the foreigner at the hotel (although I had some trouble understanding the Shanxi accent! Jin Chinese is not my strongest!).
The WiFi was a bit slow. But the beds were incredible. Huge, clean, soft. Pillows were lovely. Bathroom was huge. Just wish there’d been a bit more service from the front desk. Was a tad weird to get up at 5:50am to go to the Hanging Temple 悬空寺, which is very normal, to see the woman at the front desk asleep… it was fine, but still a bit weird.

PPatr1kA bit tricky to find without Chinese. The easiest is to look for the fotos of the building on Amap. Contactless check-in so you’ll need to contact them by WeChat (best case before your arrival).
The capsule was comfortable, unlike the pillow which was really hard. The overall cleanness is okay and the capsule has everything one needs.
Not a big fan of allowing smoking in the toilets though

MM22192****I went to Datong Ancient Town during the May Day holiday. The room in this inn was clean and had no odor. I liked the small sofa next to the bed. The boss was very considerate in providing disposable towels and bath towels, and there was plenty of hot water. Parking is also convenient, not far from the inn, only a five-minute walk away. The location of the inn is very good. It is right next to the clock tower of the ancient city. It is convenient to go anywhere. There are many small restaurants downstairs, which is also convenient for eating.
The landlady was very enthusiastic and we had a great time chatting. I like your dog the most. I will come to your house next time to play (๑°3°๑)
