Old Man Captain HostelRoom affordable, convenient transportation, the essential place to relax

"The accommodation is practical, essential, and clean. It's quite a unique experience that the entrance is inside a Family Mart; you go down the stairs and you're right in the convenience store, haha, definitely very convenient. On the other hand, its proximity to the station might be an issue for some – lots of people, constant coming and going, and noisy. The property offers 24/7 self-service coffee/tea packets. You can even make your own breakfast with bread, butter/jam/chocolate, etc. The idea of small events organized in the common room is a nice touch. Overall, I would recommend this hotel."

"It feels more like a B&B, a villa with many rooms. The soundproofing isn't great, but everything else is pretty good. It's very close to a certain night market. You need to change into slippers when you enter; if you're not used to it, you'll need to bring your own. The interior decor is lovely."

"This place is a very cozy and nice place for a trip in Tainan. The host is super friendly and fluent in English (a big plus for me). This is a self check-in homestay so you need to contact with the host before arrival. There are also kitchen space for share and amenities if you don’t have."

"It was a bit tricky to find the entrance at first because the hotel is tucked away in an alley off the main street. I was also a little worried since I use a budget SIM and couldn't add them on Line via ID. However, after doing the online check-in, I clicked on the QR key display icon, and a button to add them as a Line friend popped up, so I was able to connect. Once added on Line, I could save the QR key as an image and also check the Wi-Fi password, which was a relief. You can open both the main entrance and your room door with the QR code. The facilities are good: hot water in the shower works well, the hairdryer is good, A/C is good, indoor slippers are provided, and Wi-Fi is good. However, the refrigerator is shared. There's no shower curtain, so if you shower normally, the toilet, trash can, and other items get soaked, which is a bit unavoidable. Typical for Tainan, fighter jets were flying until around 7:30 PM, and I was woken up by their sound again around 7 AM. They did provide earplugs for 10 TWD, but I wasn't bothered by the noise. You can also hear the street motorbikes quite a bit, but it quieted down after 9 PM, so it didn't bother me when sleeping. There are gaps in the door, so mosquitoes and flies could potentially get in. They provided a plug-in mosquito repellent, but I didn't use it. The location is great: a 7-Eleven is just a 5-minute walk away. If you walk for 10 minutes, you'll reach a shopping street that connects trendy and traditional areas, so you can enjoy the evenings. I personally didn't find the subway station too far either, so I think choosing this hotel that AI recommended was the right decision."

"Couldn't upload my passport image for self-check-in, but I was able to check in at the sister hotel next door. Otherwise, there were no staff present. The linens were crisp, and the cleanliness left a great impression. It was a bit inconvenient that there wasn't an outlet to charge my phone by the bed, so I charged it in the common area downstairs."

The OYAJI Guesthouse provides a great place for travelers to relax after a busy day. The OYAJI Guesthouse offers a pleasant stay in Tainan for those traveling for business or leisure. Traveling to the hotel is easy with Tainan Station located approximately 1km away and Tainan Airport roughly 7km away. There is no shortage of things to see in the area, with the Museum of Taiwan Literature, Tainan Grand Mazu Temple and Koxinga's Shrine all nearby. At the end of a busy day, travelers can unwind and relax in the hotel or go out and enjoy the city. If you demand a high level of service, our guests have indicated that this hotel has excellent standards.

"I stayed for 3 nights in April. It was my first time staying in a guesthouse, and there were many rules. I received many emails explaining them, which was confusing at first, but the explanations were clear and easy to understand. Questions were answered promptly. Sorting the trash was difficult. The location was convenient, with easy access to restaurants, a bus stop nearby, and a YOUBIKE port relatively close, which was great. It's about a 20-minute walk from Tainan Station and the airport shuttle bus stop, just within walking distance. The room was fairly clean and had everything I needed. Since they provide shared slippers, it's probably best to bring your own. Tainan was wonderful, so I might stay here again when I visit again. Thank you!"

"Important: Please bring ear plugs! the sound from street traffic is kind of echoey and loud. I went to buy some after my first night. Location is hard to beat. I got to try quite a few good eateries just by staying here. And there are street markets of different types within short walking distance. I was staying in a room on 2nd level and using the shared bathroom, but it looked like i was the the only one using it. Everything is clean and spotless, as if the place is very new. The hot/cold water dispenser at ground level is very useful. More hooks/hangers in the room for hanging clothes would be nice. The light feature above the bed and the full-length glass windows that allow natural light are very aesthetically pleasing. What was perhaps unusual and a bit unnerving - a first for me - was that i didn't see ANY person around the whole of my 4-day stay. I arrived late and had to do a self check-in on the first day so that was to be expected, but on subsequent days no staff were at reception, nor did i see any guests (though i could faintly hear them in their rooms on certain days). Is this a low season thing? Having said that, i found the self-check in and check-out is quite convenient and if you have connected with them over Whatsapp, they send clear instructions beforehand. They will also answer any questions over Whataspp, so i guess it's like a virtual receptionist?"

"Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos, only a video posted on Instagram. I stayed in room 204, a double room. 1. If you mind the bed facing the door, please consider this carefully. (There are back curtains blocking the view.) 2. The mini-fridge is very light; be careful not to move it too much. 3. There are two trash cans: one on the sofa and one next to it in the toilet. I asked if I could flush toilet paper down the toilet, and the guesthouse said the roll-top toilet paper in the bathroom is allowed. The trash cans are small, oval-shaped, as you can see in the picture. 4. If you run out of the roll-top toilet paper, there are supplies in the cabinet under the sink. There's one roll-top and one pull-out roll. 5. The bathroom uses a soft water system; there's a sticker next to the mirror explaining this. It's quite comfortable to shower with. (Mainly explaining that soft water has moisturizing effects and makes the lather richer.) The hairdryer is great. There's an indoor circulation system next to the sink mirror that you can press, such as ventilation and drying. This is very useful for people who have been experiencing heavy rain these past few days. (By the way, if your shoes get wet, you can tell the front desk you'd like to bring them up to dry.) The floor mat is on the bathroom shelf, and the bath towels are in the cabinet to the right of the sink. 6. There are one electrical outlet on each side of the bed, two next to the sink, and one next to the refrigerator. You basically won't have a problem with not having enough outlets. If you're tall enough, there are actually three more on the ceiling. 7. Opening the curtains from the bed doesn't offer much of a view; it's just a typical residential window view. 8. There are beer and beverage machines and candy/cookies on the first floor, but I didn't touch them, so I can't comment. I think there's a recreation room on the fourth floor? I didn't go up there either. 9. The elevator is small, a rectangular space."

The location is very convenient, with a few morning markets nearby, which makes it easy to explore local life and find breakfast. Cleanliness is excellent. Both the bedroom and bathroom are very clean, and the water pressure is strong. I stayed in a tatami room — it was nice, but I do wish the mattress was a bit thicker, as it felt slightly too thin for me. The common area is very cozy, and I really enjoyed the free coffee and tea available anytime. It’s a great space to relax. The only downside was some confusion about the washing machine. There was a notice saying foreigners can use it for free, but it didn’t mention needing to ask for permission in advance. When I used it, I later received a message from the host saying I should have asked first, which was a bit confusing. Overall, still a comfortable and pleasant stay.

I had a truly wonderful stay at here. The location couldn’t be better—right across from Tainan Park, it’s peaceful yet still within walking distance to the train station and local eateries. The atmosphere of the inn feels both cozy and refreshing, surrounded by greenery that makes you forget you’re in the middle of the city. The room was spotless and thoughtfully designed, with natural light, soft bedding, and just the right touch of simplicity. Every detail showed the owner’s care—from the locally roasted coffee in the common area to the warm welcome when I arrived. I especially loved the small garden space where you can relax with a cup of tea in the afternoon. What stood out most was the hospitality. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready with local travel tips and food recommendations. Their genuine kindness made me feel like I was visiting an old friend rather than staying at a hotel. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Tainan. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates comfort, warmth, and a touch of nature in the heart of the city.

There is really no elevator in the high-rise building. I want to clear it. Because I have to climb the sixth floor every day, the first floor of him has increased. I really climb the stairs for two days. Because of this, I will book the hotel later. I have to look at the stairs.

I spent one night in this hostel and I want to start by highlighting the kindness and warm welcome of the staff. The team is truly pleasant and helpful. However, my experience in the dorm was very disappointing. The room has no window, which is already quite uncomfortable, but the main problem stems from late arrivals. The hostel accepts very late check-ins; at 11 p.m., a staff member entered the dorm and turned on all the lights to help a new arrival settle in, waking everyone up. The overall atmosphere in the dorm was also quite disrespectful, and it felt like the space was being used to its fullest potential at the expense of travelers' comfort. Ultimately, even though the staff is lovely, the quality of sleep is so negatively impacted that the night was very difficult. It's a shame, because a few adjustments could really improve the experience.

Getting to this hotel by public transport might take a bit longer, especially if you're walking. However, the upside is that strolling through the streets and alleys is a great way to really get to know the city. Aside from the slightly out-of-the-way location, the room facilities are complete, thoughtful, and clean. The common area in the basement is comfortable, offering tea bags and a water dispenser, with more available on different floors.

The hotel and room are very nice, in a very good position and has a very good price. The problem is the communication with the staff. I tried to contact a day in advance on WhatsApp (they asked me to add them on WhatsApp when I booked, and at the beginning, a few weeks ago, they answered) to know when I could bring my luggage there but I got no answer. Later that day and next morning I tried again with the same result. I also asked a friend in Taiwan to call them on this number but no answer. Then I decided to go to the hotel, I found another phone number and another WhatsApp but unfortunately I got no answer again. Luckily another client let me enter with the code to bring my luggage. I finally got an answer 4 hours later I left the hotel. That's a pity, I don't know what happened. Hope I only was very unlucky that day.

The hostel is easy to reach from train and bus station walking around 30 minutes. The front desk staff are very professional and have good online check in form. The sitting area is quite good and traditional and have a reasonable pantry with free hot drinks and some snacks. The dorm rooms are of good size with large spacious bed with curtains. The shower and toilets are on different floors and are reasonably clean. The building looks quite a traditional structure and you need to climb several steps and the staircases are very long and narrow. If you have many luggage and suitcases you will have a good workout in reaching your room. Overall the place gives a good traditional experience of Tainan and Taiwan and its worth the money charged. The location is the most ideal and you can walk to nearly all important tourist places from here. They also provide their own folded direction map. This was for me the best professionally managed owner managed hostel I have ever stayed in and you really feel immersed in Tainan staying at this Hostel.

My booking consisted of 2 double beds however due to a mismatch of details from trip, upon contacting the homestay, they notified that they only provide 1 double bed for every room. Other than that mishap, the stay was pleasant enough. Be prepared for the steep steps of Tainan. Other issues with the homestay was that there were no toothbrush/toothpaste provided, no proper bathroom mat (it was the spongy type), no proper heating in the room. The entrance was a bit hard to find especially when it gets dark. They provided 2 waterbottles for us and subsequent refills were obtained from the dispenser in the main area on Level 1. There is a public fridge and toilet in the main area too. Closeby amenities include street food alleyway with some clothes shops, 7/11, Watsons. Location was a bus ride away from Tainan Metro so relatively convenient! But .taxi would be even better.

Jiahong Brigade Advantages In the urban area of Xuejia, transportation is very convenient. For the price of old hostel, it is close to the people for consecutive holidays. Average 1 000 There is a beautiful picture in the toilet. The air-conditioning is very powerful Disadvantages No wifi, no TV, hot water to wait But 1,000 You get what you pay for~~ Don't compare big restaurants to this
