"Except for the excellent location (nearest to Tobu-Nikko Station and the buses stops to various locations and places of interest, the hotel is badly in need of upgrades for it's rooms, facilities and amenities.
The room I stayed in is big (compared to most hotel rooms in Japan) but the toilet seat cover keeps falling down while using it.
Plenty of cobwebs at corners , especially along the corridor.
The bathroom taps is like a 'makeshift' upgrade shared by basin and bathtub. See photo.
Good thing is that I can see upgrading and renovation taking place but seems like it has been going on for a very long time already."

"I stayed in a twin room on the third floor, and there's an elevator. The room has a toilet (no shower), and the shower rooms are next door, with two on each floor. There's also a washing machine. On the first floor, there's a public bath, which is quite small and only fits two people. Breakfast is 700 yen per person and is filling. Right across from the inn entrance is a Family Mart, which is very convenient. There's no luggage storage, only lockers by the entrance for 100 yen per use. A 24-inch suitcase fits easily, and 25-26 inches should be fine too; for 28 inches, you might want to double-check. I managed to fit my 24-inch suitcase plus 2 liters of water. It's a 3-minute walk from Tobu Nikko Station, or 5 minutes if you walk slowly."

"We had a great stay with Yoshiko-san. She was warm and friendly and gave us great tips and recommendations. The house is very conveniently located near the major temples, Kanmangafuchi abyss, and the bus route. The house was also very comfortable, a taste of real Japanese living!"

"Traditional hot spring hostel with high CP value. There is a hot spring bath on the first floor, there is also a local production and sales department, a friendship hall and free coffee and refreshments. Shenqiao and Ersheyi Temple are all within walking distance. The hotel has a parking lot and it is very convenient to take the bus."

"It is a lodge run by the senior madam, about 15 minutes walk from the station ～ 20 minutes.
The bath was a rock bath and was reserved (30 minutes). It was clean with a large bath.
The room was on the mountain side, so it felt a bit dark, but the bed was good.
The dinner was very delicious with charcoal-fired grilled meat and fish. The plum sake of the aperitif was also the best.
It was a very quiet and nice lodge.
Above all, Madame was a nice person."

SSisitianshiThis guesthouse is super close to JR Nikko Station, just a 5-minute walk away. The buses to Toshogu Shrine also stop right by JR Nikko Station, making it incredibly convenient. The owner's wife was very welcoming; she first asked about my travel plans and then meticulously explained how to get everywhere, handing me maps and bus timetables for the next day. I stayed in a Japanese-style room on the second floor with a toilet nearby, and the shower room on the first floor was very clean and comfortable. The next morning, the owner's wife prepared a delicious and complimentary breakfast, giving us a real taste of local life. She even gave us an origami crane as a blessing... Her thoughtfulness and genuine hospitality offered a warmth that's different from staying in a regular hotel.

MMaKKaZzzExcellent price-performance ratio hotel with the best logistics you can have in Kinugawa. The facilities with garden are fresh, service is top grade. As for onsen, it is separated, but it has only one bath, which is expected from tiny hotels.
The only little nuisance you can encounter is the late night noise coming from opening doors.
Overall the experience was outstanding, I will choose this place again.

GGuest UserThe guesthouse is quite a way from Nikko town (10-15 mins by bus / 1 hour walk) but is in a good location for getting to the shrines or to Lake Ashi - there's a bus stop close by. The guesthouse was homely and had 2 private onsen. Our room was comfortable enough although the en-suite was very tiny! The host was welcoming but didn't speak any English which meant we had to communicate by translating on our phones. We booked to have breakfast at the guesthouse, but didn't realise that for booking the dinner we needed to give 24 hours+ notice so missed out!

GGuest UserThere are too few reviews of small Japanese homestays. Every time an order is placed, it is like opening a blind box. After opening this one, it is informational and highly recommended. The sanitary conditions and hot spring facilities meet expectations. The biggest surprise is the location. It is actually located at the door of the niche and unique regretful Yuan. Put down your luggage. One person went to the empty attraction and walked around quickly. The sound of running water was in his ears. In front of him was a row of different-looking sitting on the ground. Bodhisattva, Quite mysterious experience. Going to the station, a bit inconvenient, take a taxi back and forth, the price is acceptable, about 1,500 yen a way.

The room i got was considerably larger than i expected. Food was exceptionally great, the innkeeper was very considerate to accomodate to my request to replace the original pork patty meal with pasta. They were also very kind enough to give me free handwarmer when i mentioned that i was looking for it at any store around for my hike to mt nantai.

NNieva MayThe place is a 25-30 minute walk from the Tobu Nikko station, but you can actually take bus going there. However we didn't know the buses only run until 3 in the afternoon so we had no choice but to walk an uphill road. However it was a very fun experience and the hike was worth it as soon as we were able to take a rest in this humble pension house. The owner was very accommodating, gave us strawberry ice cream and even offered us a ride to the station the next morning. I would say that this place gave us the best definition of ”omotenashi”. Someday when we go back in Nikko , we'll surely stay here once again.

Jjlow123Most of the reviews are outdated so I thought I'd give an updated review. For one thing, there is WiFi (I have informed the landlady that the website indicates otherwise).
This place is a traditional-style inn. You'll be sleeping in a futon (some Google-fu should help you know how to use one), use two pairs of slippers (one for moving around the house, one exclusively for the toilet) and will also bathe in a Japanese-style shared bathroom. The front gate and bathroom close at 10pm, which is not an issue as everywhere in Nikko closes early and it's too dark to hike outdoors (in early Autumn).
We loved using the onsen to relax after a day of strolling around and hiking, and the delicious Japanese-style breakfast was lovingly prepared by a friendly old granny. The premises are old but well-maintained. Toilets, bathroom and onsen were great but we were there during off-peak season so we didn't need to share so much. Should we return to Nikko, this place will be our first choice!

Llinlin兒When we arrived grandma missed our order. But it was dealt with quickly. We took this dad on the trip. We enjoyed 3 days and 2 nights. The old lady cooked a sumptuous breakfast and dinner every day. They were very delicious and I was very full after every meal. We were also very satisfied with the meal. The B&B faces the mountains and the sea. The scenery is beautiful. Great stay . I really like it. Thank you, grandma. Our family of 3 had a lot of fun

Ttolyazek@mail.ruEverything was great! We lived here for three days in April 2024. The hosts are very friendly and attentive. Breakfast and dinner were very tasty and large, so during the day we didn’t even want to have lunch while walking. Everything in the room is clean and tidy. The place is quiet and beautiful. Nearby there is a large supermarket with everything you need. The bus stop to the waterfalls and lake is also very close. There is also a public onsen nearby, we had a good time there too. In general, we really liked everything! Thank you!
