"Stayed at Sho Inn for 1 night in Otaru. It’s a little out of the way from the Otaru station if you do not drive, but they offer shuttle service to the Otaru Canal and Otaru station when you check out! The host Hideshi was incredibly kind, even going the extra mile to bring my neck pillow, which I had accidentally left in the accommodation after check out, to the Otaru station at my preferred time that evening. It was a gesture testament of the great hospitality of the Japanese. Would definitely recommend this place especially if you’re a solo traveller / prefer your own private space instead of going to those hostels with double deckered beds and curtains!"

"Thumbs up! 👍 Since we were on a road trip, having the car parked right outside our room was a huge plus. The hotel's location is excellent – lively but quiet, with absolutely no noise at night. Even though it's a self-service hotel, a staff member helped us during check-in, and they cleared snow every morning. I stayed for five nights, and the room was cleaned after the third night. The hotel amenities were plentiful, with unlimited bath towels and pajamas provided, and even a hair straightener in the room. The staff were very thoughtful. When it was cold, they would turn on the heating while I was out, so I'd come back to a warm room. There were also extra blankets in the room, perfect for lounging on the sofa. My biggest worry before checking in was that the shower wouldn't have hot enough water, but that was completely unfounded – the hot water was super hot! Overall, there's absolutely nothing to complain about. It's fantastic, and I'll definitely stay here again on my next road trip."

"The B&B's location is pretty good and convenient, with a convenience store right outside. The interior is beautiful and thoughtfully detailed. The front desk service was just okay, nothing special. The room itself was clean and tidy, but when we turned on the heater, there was a strong, persistent kerosene smell that was really unpleasant."

"This apartment offers a practical and comfortable stay, especially for those looking to explore Otaru on foot. We appreciated the basic utensils and cutlery provided, making it easy to prepare simple meals. The thoughtful inclusion of toothbrushes and toothpaste was a nice touch, and the microwave was handy for quick reheats. Comfort is well-addressed with one air-conditioner and a heater, ensuring a pleasant temperature regardless of the weather. The washing machine was a huge convenience, and we had options for drying clothes either on the hanger stand inside the room or on the balcony. The location is a major highlight, being within easy walking distance to both Otaru Canal and Sakaimachi Street. We also found it convenient to have a Lawson and various eateries nearby, though it's a good idea to check their opening hours as they can vary. Important Considerations for Your Stay While the location is excellent, it's important to note that the road leading to the building is steep. This could be particularly challenging if you're driving, and we would not advise driving during winter due to the road conditions. For those with a car, there are two parking areas available. The closer one has three slots, while a slightly further option offers approximately 12 slots. Keep this in mind, especially if you prioritize a closer parking spot."

"The overall price of the room is very high and clean. 300 yuan a night is still very big. The room temperature will be higher than outside. Summer to live. It will be hotter but it is invincible in winter. It is recommended to bring a small fan in summer. Another problem is that the curtains in the light room are very short and cannot completely cover the window. After sunrise, the room will be very bright and I don’t know why the room mainly installs the escape lights in the room. Sleeping at night can’t be turned off. It will be very bright. It is recommended to wear an eye mask to sleep. Generally speaking, it is OK. It is worth the price. It should come to live in winter."

"I was very satisfied. It's a great place for those who prefer quiet accommodations like me. I stayed alone for 2 nights and 3 days, and I was very satisfied with the cleanliness, space and price of the hostel. The location of the hostel is adjacent to famous tourist spots like Otaru Music Hall and Otaru Ungji, and there are locals living around, so I felt like I was in the daily life of the locals. It is also about 10-15 minutes walk from Otaru Station, so it is easy to move to other cities.  I would like to stay again if I come to Otaru again next time."

"The room was very spacious, and so was the bathroom, which was great with a separate shower, toilet, and sink! The hotel also has a parking lot right in front, which is a plus. It's only a 30-second walk to the lively Otaru Music Box Museum, and there are plenty of restaurants, drugstores, and a post office nearby."
