Find 2-Star Hotels in Seoul

The hotel is located right in the heart of Myeongdong, very close to Euljiro subway station. With many restaurants nearby, the location is incredibly convenient. I arrived at the hotel around 11 PM on my check-in day, so I went up to the 3rd floor via the elevator and found a card key with my name on it at the counter. I believe if I had gone to the counter the next day, they would have told me my room number, but I was short on time and just continued using the card key, which wasn't inconvenient at all. The room didn't have enough space to fully open a large suitcase without blocking the aisle, but since I was traveling alone, it wasn't a major issue. The mirror and light were very handy for doing makeup. The sink, shower, and toilet were all in one area, but it was clean and easy to use. The water pressure in the shower was also good. I could catch a glimpse of the Myeongdong cityscape from the window. There were plenty of outlets, so as long as you have a plug adapter and a voltage converter, you should be fine. Towels were provided in the room, and extra ones were available in the hallway, which I found to be a thoughtful touch. Although it was a non-smoking room, there was a smoking area very close to the hotel, which made it tolerable. I would definitely consider staying here again for a solo trip! Thank you.

Don’t let the old building intimidate you! When you arrive in the actual hostel which is multiple floors 14-16, it is not outdated at all. Location is top notch, I have no words for this. When you go out of the bldg, you are already in Myeongdong night market. For budget travelers, the breakfast is also significant/enough which helped a lot in this trip. I also got upgraded from 6 to 4 ppl room which was a bonus. One thing to note though is that the bathroom is shared for the whole floor and centralized near the elevator. it’s clean and have ample showers. the only concern is when you need to pee at the wee hours of the morning, your room might be a bit far from it. Will definitely stay again!

This was pretty much a self-service guesthouse, which made for an interesting experience. To be honest, up until I opened the room door, my experience wasn't great: Naver Maps was quite off with the location; the guesthouse is in a mixed-use commercial/residential building, and there's no clear sign outside, so I missed it the first time I walked past. Once inside, I initially didn't notice the notice on the wall by the entrance because the logo wasn't for this guesthouse. After searching for a bit, I finally found a QR code to scan on the wall directly opposite the entrance. The first code I scanned for information entry gave an error. Eventually, I found the correct QR code, registered my details, and received the room number and door code. The hallway outside the elevator also felt typical for a commercial/residential building, with some clutter. However, opening the door was a pleasant surprise: it was a very modern-style room with an enclosed small balcony, clean and tidy. The room was fully equipped with everything you could need: a large fridge, washing machine, induction hob, kitchenware, tableware, etc., and plenty of storage space. Instructions for some facilities could be found online by scanning a QR code, available in both Chinese and English. For a guesthouse, it met the standards of a hotel apartment, and it wasn't too far from the subway. For the price, it offered great value for money. The check-out process was incredibly simple – just scan a QR code and enter the room number. Of course, there were also quite a few drawbacks, mainly concerning the manuals for electronic devices. The buttons here are all in Korean, naturally. While the guesthouse's provided guide had corresponding translated instructions for the air conditioner, TV, and washing machine, it was clear from the cover page that these instructions were for the equipment in their Myeongdong branch, whereas the equipment in the Seocho-gu branch where I stayed was quite different. First, a pitfall was the washing machine. The guesthouse's guide stated the washing machine had a dryer function, and the panel certainly looked like it did. However, the washing machine in my room actually didn't have a dryer, meaning I couldn't dry my clothes after washing them (I confirmed with a translation app that the guesthouse's description was indeed incorrect). There was a wardrobe with a drying function, but its effect was very weak; it was actually less effective than simply air-drying clothes in the air-conditioned room. Next was the TV. The fact that the remote control model was completely different from the one in the guide was a minor issue; in reality, besides the power button, pressing any other button yielded no response. These issues were still manageable, as not everyone might have the same needs. However, the WiFi simply wouldn't connect, constantly giving an error. Failing at something so basic is an unforgivable problem. Checking out requires guests to dispose of their own trash. Yet again, the same problem arose: the trash disposal route described in the guide was not for this establishment. I ended up having to take my trash with me and dispose of it at the subway station. In conclusion, the value for money is indeed good, but there's significant room for improvement in terms of attention to detail.

The location is very nice. You can easily walk to Myeongdong, Namsan Tower, and many restaurants, and transportation is convenient. The staff were very kind and helpful. However, it’s difficult for me to say this was a good stay overall. Here are the reasons why: • Elevator – The elevator is only for luggage, not for guests. This should be clearly stated before booking. As in here it’s show as the property has an elevator without explaining that it is a cargo elevator, it is misleading. • Security – The room password was simply the room number with an additional “1” added to it. I didn’t leave valuables in the room, so I wasn’t too worried, but it still felt like a weak security system. • Room Door – There is no additional lock on the inside of the room. While the digital lock can be activated, I never felt completely confident that the door was fully secured. • Soft Opening Without Notice – When I booked, there was no mention that the property was still in a soft-opening stage. I expected the hotel to be fully operational. Instead, there were unfinished areas, items left around the property, and staff frequently entering rooms after check-in to inspect or photograph things without being asked. Had I known the hotel was not fully ready, I would have considered other options before booking. • Poor Room Layout – My room was 405, located at the end of the hallway. The neighboring room (404) had a door positioned in a way that it would hit my door whenever opened carelessly. During my four-night stay, the guests next door banged their door into mine repeatedly. Eventually, at around 1 a.m. one night, I had to contact the staff and ask them to address the issue. • Cleanliness Concerns – The property appears to use the same type of towel for everything. When I asked about a bathroom mat, I was told to use a towel instead. This gave me the impression that the towels were being used for multiple purposes, including drying floors. On top of that, the towels shed lint and left fibers on my skin after use. • Very Small Bathroom – Please be aware that the bathroom is extremely small. The shower is positioned directly over the toilet, and there is barely enough room to stand while showering. In practice, you almost need to sit on the toilet to shower comfortably. After two nights, I seriously considered moving to another hotel. The only reason I stayed was because my mother didn’t want to move all of our belongings again. To be fair, one of the staff members (possibly the owner) sincerely apologized and explained that they were trying their best. I do believe they genuinely care and are making an effort. However, there is still a long way to go before this property is ready to provide a comfortable hotel experience.

I have very mixed feelings about this hotel. The hotel itself is a bit run down and the room had quite a few flaws, but the wonderful staff and spacious rooms really made up for it. I can't imagine how people live in 14 square meter windowless rooms in the city center; here, at least, two people can comfortably coexist and enjoy the view from the windows! It's a leisurely 10-minute walk to the metro, and then 15-20 minutes by metro to the city center, depending on where you're going. There are plenty of places around to grab breakfast and even have a nice dinner after 10 PM. In short, if you're not overly picky and your goal isn't to stay cooped up in your room all day, then the value for money is decent! The photo shows the view from the room.

The location is very convenient, about a 5-minute walk from the subway and bus stations. The room isn't huge but is well-laid out, clean, and the bedding is comfortable. The front desk staff were very friendly and check-in was quick. Overall, it offers great value for money, and I would consider staying here again next time I visit [city].

I had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the dedicated female area requires a secure code to enter, which made me feel very safe as a solo woman.However, the room comfort was quite poor. I was assigned a top bunk bed, and the room was incredibly hot because the air conditioning had been turned off.The bathroom facilities are located outside of the room and consist of a universal toilet. While the shower itself was okay, the towel provided was tiny and looked like it had already been used.While the security for women is great, the hot room and poor linen quality mean I would likely look elsewhere next time.

I honestly don’t know what to say about this hostel. At first, I was relieved to find a place that was this affordable, but I never expected it to be this disappointing. Let me break everything down. 📍 Location There were two of us traveling, and I booked a room for two people. I was already a little pessimistic about the location because the hostel is located quite deep inside a narrow alley. The area is not exactly clean or well-maintained, although it was still tolerable. There are two pharmacies nearby, and the biggest advantage is that it only takes about a 1-minute walk to reach the Line 5 and Line 6 subway stations. I still couldn’t find many food options nearby. The closest convenient option I found was a 7-Eleven, which takes around 5 minutes to walk to. 🏠 First Impression & Common Area When I first entered, there were a lot of suitcases piled up around the luggage storage area, which made the space feel very cramped, especially with the shoe rack right next to it. In front of the shoe rack, there is a large touchscreen with a camera that you can use for self-check-in. It supports several languages, which is quite convenient. The machine provides your room number, tips and information about the hostel, as well as the password/access information needed to enter your room. The room doors use smart locks. In the middle of the common area, there are two large refrigerators. One is for the staff and the other is for guests. If you want to store food, you simply need to label it with your check-out date. So don’t worry—your food is not supposed to be taken by anyone. Next to the refrigerators, there are four tables and some sofas where guests can sit, eat, or simply wait. The Wi-Fi in this common area worked well. All guest rooms are located upstairs, and unfortunately, there is no elevator. One thing that really bothered me was the lack of a public bathroom. If you need to use the toilet before checking in, don’t expect to be able to use one. I actually asked one of the staff members, “Do you know where the toilet I can use is?” The staff member, who was not very fluent in English, replied, “Yes, there is, but in the room.” I then asked, “Can I use the bathroom, just the bathroom, and then I’ll leave?” The answer was basically that I had to wait until my room was ready at 3 PM. So if you arrive early and really need to use the bathroom, keep this in mind. 🧳 Facilities & Amenities Some basic amenities are provided on top of the shoe rack, including towels, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and earplugs. There is also a small service area next to the shoe rack where you can leave your clothes for laundry. The laundry service costs around 5,000 KRW. The common area also has a small kitchen. There is an electric stove, an oven, a sink for washing dishes, and even an automatic washing machine. The oven was not plugged in when I saw it, so you either need to ask the staff to plug it in or do it yourself. Pots are provided on the counter. There is also a free water dispenser, along with several sachets of coffee and tea. Paper cups and regular cups are available, as well as chopsticks, forks, and spoons. 🍞 Breakfast Breakfast is available from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM. However, don’t expect a hotel-style breakfast. The selection is very basic: bread, instant noodles with the seasoning provided separately, several spreads for the bread, and boiled eggs. There were different spreads available, including strawberry jam, although I can’t remember all of the others. Each person is allowed to take only one boiled egg. For a hostel at this price, the breakfast is understandable, but it is definitely very simple. 🛏️ Room Condition Now, this is where things became disappointing. You can see the condition of the room in the photos I provided. The room was quite worn out, and some of the wallpaper was already damaged. The bathroom is extremely small. It's close to Gangnam, and this time, this place was the cheapest. **Facilities:** They provide a free water dispenser with both hot and cold water, and a kitchen where you can cook. The hot water and air conditioning both work great. However, the bed rails felt a bit flimsy and wobbly. **Cleanliness:** Clean. **Environment:** It's comfortable when there aren't many people, but it gets very crowded when full... the space is just too small. **Service:** Average.

Great location, with several good restaurants nearby. The room was good value for the price. Myeongdong isn't much cleaner, and this place was a really good deal. They even provided disposable toiletries. Overall, I think it's a good place, especially considering how cheap it was.
