Situated perfectly between Austin's downtown and the airport, this charming cottage is the perfect hideaway for a weekend venture into Austin's vibrant East Side, a pit stop for a weekend at the F1 track, or a base camp for braving SxSW. Built-in the style of a New Orleans "shotgun house", the cottage is nestled among hackberry trees and sabal palmettos and catches the morning light perfectly for enjoying a cup of coffee on the front porch. Walk up the steps and into this adorable cottage. The front room is a small living area equipped with a smart TV and chill couch. The kitchen is outfitted with all of the amenities to sustain a good time in Austin, including a coffeemaker with coffee, a hot water kettle for tea, a basic set of cookware, and all of the essentials you'll need to hit the town. Off of the hallway is a full bathroom with a tub. At the end of the hallway is the bedroom with a comfy queen bed. The cottage is surrounded by its own fence, its front gate taking you to a private parking area protected from the road by a privacy fence. You will have access to the entire cottage. The New Orleans style lot has a private gate and lovely vegetation. The large lot host two identical cottages. I live in one cottage and the other is fo you. I am available if needed, but you will have privacy. The cottage is located right in the middle of Montopolis, a vibrant and rising neighborhood with a long history in Austin. Montopolis is currently under rapid development, and is directly linked to Austin's well-known East Side neighborhood by the historic Montopolis Bridge which is being turned into a pedestrian and bicycle-only access across the free-flowing side of the Colorado River which runs along Montopolis' northern edge. Along the river on the neighborhood's northwest side and right next to the Riverside Golf Course is the Roy G. Guerrero Colorado River Metro Park which offers many hiking trails, enormous sports fields at Krieg Fields, and even an 18 "hole" disc golf course which winds along the creek and right through the forest. From Krieg Fields and the Metro Park you have easy access to one of Austin's crown jewels - the Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail, which runs along the perimeter of "Town Lake" in the center of Austin and provides beautiful and easy bicycle or pedestrian access to any part of Austin's city center. For food, apart from the simple "Tomgro Grocery" bodega just down the street where you can find beer, snacks, and essentials, you will find a wide variety of local food trailers all across the neighborhood. Montopolis' large Latinx population means you can grab some Honduran papusas at multiple food trailers along Riverside, some classic Mexican fare at the "Tacos la Sabroza" trailer at Montopolis and Riverside, or you can even enjoy a Paraguayan empanada and cafecito at Cafe Nena'i, a cute local female and family-owned coffee shop which is only a 10 minute walk down Montopolis from the cottage itself. Walk to the local flea market on Saturday mornings on the lot at Montopolis and Porter next to Tomgro Grocery where you can buy anything from a new pair of pants to shampoo to some fresh carnitas tacos. The cottage is a mere miles to downtown Austin. However, If you get tired of the city, the cottage is located at the southeastern part of town, allowing for easy escape into the country. McKinney Falls State Park, which ha multiple swimming holes, hiking trails, camping, and even offers regular educational nature walks is only a 12 minute drive away. The cottage is very well located for exploring all parts of Austin. The Neighborhood: Riverside, also known as East Riverside-Oltorf, is a fast-growing and increasingly trendy community right next to Downtown Austin. Strip malls, small businesses, and loyal natives boasting a no-frills attitude fill the spaces in between the greenery and residential areas. Guests can enjoy a scenic view of Lady Bird Lake and the city beyond while taking a walk along The Boardwalk. The neighborhood is home to many artists and musicians whose influences color the community in classic Austin fashion. Visit hotspots like Buzzmill coffee, The Bazaar or Emo’s, one of the most prominent nightclubs in Austin for chart-topping musicians and performers. Getting Around: We recommend that guests rent a car during your stay in Austin as many of Austin’s best attractions and fun things to do are scattered around the city and much more convenient when accessed by car. While there are certainly public transportation options such as buses and individual transportation options such as scooters/bikes/mopeds, these options are mainly convenient and readily available around the downtown Austin area and quickly becomes sparse even a couple miles outside of city center. Rideshare apps such as Uber and Lyft are also great options but expenses can quickly add up as Austin rideshare rates are on the higher end and can surge very high during busy times, such as 2AM on weekends and during large events such as SXSW, conferences, F1, etc. Other Things to Note: ★★★ PRE-STAY GUEST VERIFICATION IS REQUIRED ★★★ To abide by all legal requirements and property security rules, you may be asked to provide a copy of your official government-issued photo ID, confirm your contact information, pass through our verification portal, and/or, in some instances, complete a criminal background check. Please be advised that all guests will be asked to sign a rental usage agreement that governs the terms of the stay. By completing the reservation you agree to the following: « You agree to be bound by our rental terms and conditions. « You acknowledge that you will be required to provide a copy of a valid government-issued ID prior to check-in. « You acknowledge that you may be required to undergo a background check if mandated by the property management company or the owner, as stated in accordance with your rental agreement and condition of the booking. « You understand that your check-in instructions might be withheld until you have successfully completed our verification portal. All guests are subject to verification checks and are required to provide the necessary information to us within 24 hours of booking. Same-day bookings are required to provide the information within 1 hour of booking. We reserve the right to cancel any reservation that does not meet our verification check criteria. ★ Other Things to Note ★ - Some areas of the complex are restricted to guests (and not listed as amenities), please message us prior to booking to confirm - We would love to welcome guests who book our apartment the same day of their arrival, but please be aware that your check-in may be a bit delayed (to as late as 7 pm) as we rush to prepare the unit for your arrival. Guests who book more than 24 hours in advance will be able to check-in by 4 pm. - We provide all of our guests a starter kit of consumables such as toilet paper, paper towels, laundry pods, dishwasher pods, etc. Guests can purchase any additional consumables from nearby grocery stores that you think you might need during your stay beyond what's included in the starter kit. - The apartment complex may run maintenance or clean the shared amenities as they see fit at any time. Please be aware. - Guests will need to download the Chirp Access phone app to open the community gates to enter the complex, as the gates are only open-able through this app.
