"Traveling to Datong during the off-season was such a great idea! Can you believe I booked this room for just 98 yuan? This Yanda Hotel is incredibly good value for money. It's located near the ancient city, making it really convenient to get around. The front desk staff even gave us a free upgrade from our original family room. The mattress was so soft and comfortable, I slept wonderfully. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Datong."

"The most comfortable parent-child hotel we've ever stayed at with our child! I wholeheartedly recommend it to all moms and dads out there! 🛏️ Three-meter super-wide bed, tumble around worry-free! The room features a super-sized tatami area with a special mattress over three meters wide. Our child can roll around freely while sleeping, and we adults don't have to worry about them falling off the bed at all. We finally got a full night's sleep! 🎠 Kids' playground + thoughtful service, hands-free! The hotel's public area on the first floor is an absolute paradise for children! It not only has bookshelves, climbing frames, and a trampoline, but it's also very close to the front desk. When the staff aren't busy, they'll even proactively play with the kids, allowing parents to relax on the nearby lounge sofas, enjoy a coffee, or scroll through their phones. It truly delivers a ”hands-free” experience. 🌳 Superb ambiance, cozy and comfortable! We stayed in a first-floor room, and just outside the window was a small green park. The afternoon sun filtering through the tree shadows into the room created an amazing atmosphere. The room is very spacious, and the separate wet and dry areas in the bathroom are incredibly convenient. We stayed here for three days, and the whole family was super happy and comfortable! It's definitely our top choice when visiting Datong, and we can't wait to go back!"

"Choosing the right hotel is so important! It's just a ten-minute walk from Datong Ancient City, and the scenery in Datong is absolutely stunning. The room was clean and bright, and the housekeeping was exceptionally thorough – not even a water stain on the vanity. The biggest surprise was how quiet it was; you couldn't hear any noise even in the hallway, which was a huge relief for someone like me who struggles with sleep. My overall experience exceeded expectations, and I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit!"

"Nice stay at Pipa oils Inn inside the Datong Ancient City. The hotel is clean and the staff are helpful, also to is convenient for our visit to Hanging Temple, wooden Pagoda and Yungang Grottoes as well. Datong Ancient City is a beautifully preserved walled town that reflects the rich history and charm of northern China. Once a strategic military stronghold during the Ming Dynasty, the city is surrounded by impressive stone walls and gate towers that give it a grand, historic feel. Inside, the streets are lined with traditional courtyards, ancient-style buildings, temples, and lively shops selling local snacks and souvenirs. Walking through the city feels like stepping back in time — you can admire the ancient architecture, try Datong’s famous noodles and pastries, and experience the relaxed pace of local life. In the evening, the city becomes especially magical, with the walls and streets lit up in warm lights, creating a romantic old-town atmosphere. Datong Ancient City is not just a historical site but also a living town, blending culture, food, and history — a perfect place to slow down and soak in the beauty of China’s northern heritage."

"As a hotel, I was quite impressed with the neatness, spaciousness, and comfort of the hotel. Unfortunately, the smart toilet is not like the original smart toilet, a smart toilet that can only flush and warm? No bidet and others? I think it should be written as a regular toilet. Then the female staff at the front office preferred to talk to my friends or my wife who can speak Mandarin? Wow, that's a big mistake because even though I tried to communicate with them, they ignored me 😁... Sorry, I will give a score where I, as the person who booked the whole thing, based on my own personal experience 😊"

"The room is clean and tidy, with a complete Japanese-style decor. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer a great view of the ancient city. The large TV also has a projection function. It's very convenient for dining nearby, with Old Chai's Noodles and Sunji Baozi chain stores, and Beiwei Family Feast is also very close. The accommodation price is quite affordable, highly recommended!"

"Spent a most enjoyable 5-day stay here. The owners are really nice -- they not only surprised us with a welcome fruit platter but also sent another one on another day. When we had to wake up super early on one of the days, they actually cooked 2 hard boil eggs for us to pack for breakfast (despite us saying no the night before as we didn't wish to trouble them). The husband also sent us via his car to a nearby pick-up point that we had to assemble at 5.40am. This is a very nicely done up place, well-maintained and very clean too. Good quality toiletries provided, comfortable bed, bathroom with a shower cubicle, water that is hot enough, even a toilet bowl. Great location -- there're rows of different types of shops nearby but it's still surprisingly quiet despite our room facing the road with a balcony, there're 2 cafes nearby, a nearby eatery that sells the most delicious 'shao bing' (crispy skin pastry with meat in it) - it's freshly made when one orders and a adjoining noodle stall that serves noodles that's quite OK too. It's just opposite the Hua Yan Si temple - one of the must-visit on the list of places in Datong. Hua Yan temple is also located in a huge square with more shops and food. From the front door of the homestay, turn right and walk all the way down abt 15-20mins, go through the ancient walls and then cross the road, you'll find Parkson mall there - a huge modern mall with all your usual F & B + shops that you'll find in these malls, supermarket, etc. The bus-stop to Yun Gang Grottoes is also nearby. A new landmark that makes it easy to locate this charming homestay : a new huge pink bunny with the Chinese characters of Datong on a green artificial grass patch, that is located just abt 200m away from its main entrance."

"Excellent location being close to almost all of the major attractions in the datong ancient city as well as the famous knife cut noodle and shumai restaurants are just short walking distance away. It is also very close to the bus stop for Yungang grottoes. The inn and room overall is very clean. I really enjoy the view from the room. The host is very lovely and can help with your travel advise and booking for transport hire to go to the hanging temple . The only negative that I can pick on is the shower situation which was not designed very well. The water outward flow from the shower is not fast enough so you end up standing on a puddle of water. And the shower curtains not positioned well so there is always going to be water splashed outside of the shower zone. I only stayed for one night and I think It’s minor compared to what this accomodation offers. I wish I could stay for more nights as it is very nice"

"The Laocheng'en Courtyard Homestay is located within Datong Ancient City and is accessible by car. Parking is easy to find within the alleyways, especially during the off-season. The homestay features a cozy courtyard and living room, and the rooms are tidy. We booked a twin room, which wasn't huge, but the bathroom was very spacious. The main draw for us was the excellent wet/dry separation in the bathroom. There's no elevator, though. The breakfast was well-prepared and satisfying. The staff were all very friendly; on our first day, they even provided tricycles for a spin around the ancient city! Overall, it was a great stay."

"During my trip to Datong, I stayed at a courtyard-style guesthouse near the Drum Tower in the ancient city. The experience was truly beyond imagination and must be highly praised! This guesthouse is perfectly situated in the heart of the ancient city. From the moment I stepped into the guesthouse, I felt like I had stepped back into ancient times. The guesthouse retains the authentic, rustic charm of the courtyard, with its blue bricks, gray tiles, and carved doors and windows, exuding a sense of history. But don't let that fool you; it's fully equipped with modern amenities. The smart climate control system ensures a comfortable room temperature, and the security features provide peace of mind. Relaxing in the courtyard, I found it incredibly relaxing to sit on a stone bench under a tree, brew a cup of tea, and feel the gentle breeze. The room was warm and elegant, and the bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The bathroom was spotless, and the toiletries were high-quality. The service at the guesthouse was impeccable. The staff were warm and attentive, from patiently answering questions at check-in to helping with luggage—every detail was thoughtful and attentive. They also thoughtfully recommended nearby restaurants and sightseeing spots, such as the traditional hot pot on Gulou East Street and the steamed buns at Fenglin Pavilion, both of which were particularly authentic. Furthermore, the B&B is within walking distance of attractions like Huayan Temple, the Fuwen Temple, and the Drum Tower, making it very convenient for exploring. The breakfast was also a pleasant surprise, with a wide variety, including local specialty knife-cut noodles, millet porridge, and a variety of exquisite dim sum. Staying here allows you to enjoy the tranquility and charm of the ancient city while conveniently experiencing the local cuisine and culture. I'll definitely choose this place again when I visit Datong next time!"
