"If I were to rate the room alone, this guesthouse exceeded my expectations. Even though I booked a special offer room in the basement, there were absolutely no issues with ventilation or natural light. On the contrary, on a warm winter day, bathed in the soft glow of the lights, it felt like my own cozy little haven. If I visit again, I'd still choose this place. (The lady at the front desk was beautiful and kind-hearted, always willing to help and answered every question with a smile, which truly warmed my heart.) Now for the downsides: breakfast was served about a 10-minute walk from the guesthouse, which isn't a huge deal. However, the breakfast service was a world apart from the guesthouse's excellent service. The staff didn't even lift their heads when we entered or left, completely engrossed in their TV show. And they didn't provide Wi-Fi, which I consider a very basic service, right? Also, could you please avoid serving rotten fruit to guests? The breakfast quality was more about presentation than substance; it looked good for photos, but the taste left much to be desired."

"Nice hotel just outside of the old city - reachable with a 5 minute didi. The staff were very professional and helpful. The room was brand new, clean and comfortable. Stay was nearly perfect with only a few minor gripes. When we asked for extra pillows we were told there were none available, the gym was a little bit small, but the 24 hour gym opening time was excellent. The western food at the breakfast buffet seemed like it had bit sitting out for a while and wasn't super fresh. However, the Chinese food was excellent and the staff were happy to make some vegetarian fried rice for us to suit our dietary needs. Overall a very pleasant stay and we would recommend it to anyone visiting Datong. The staff were so helpful and kind."

"Environment: I was originally going to stay at Hampton when I traveled to Datong, but Hampton was fully booked every day and I couldn't book it. Then I searched and carefully selected this Mercure. It is next to the shopping mall, and it is super convenient to eat and drink takeout. It is also very close to Fantawild Ancient City. The price is more practical than Hampton, and it is not a pitfall at all. The hardware and software facilities, service and breakfast are all very good. When checking in at the lobby, children can stamp the combination seal, which is very interesting and beautiful. Originally, I was going to stay for one day and go somewhere else the next day. Later, because I didn't leave at Fantawild too late, I extended it for another day. After returning, I took the initiative to upgrade the room. The breakfast is delicious. I eat with my children every morning and feel satisfied. I go out to play with full energy. I will stay at Mercure next time I come to Datong. I am so satisfied!"

"The front desk service was warm and especially praised Xiao Qiao and mushrooms. The room was clean and hygienic. The room was upgraded on the day of check-in. When the room was changed the next day, the mushroom patiently helped us open the door to pick up the luggage. When we checked out, the front desk also sent a souvenir. The hotel has an underground parking lot for parking. The floor heating is very sufficient in winter, the house is too hot, if it can be controlled, it would be fine."

"A lovely hotel close to the old wall and not far from Datong’s must see historic attractions. The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfasts are great and there is also an optional evening buffet which is good value. There is a self service laundry which the staff help you with. Rooms are nice and clean and the hotel is nice and quiet. Highly recommend"

"The new Holiday Inn was truly amazing! The staff were all very professional and attentive. Special thanks to Manager Zhao Jie for arranging a room upgrade in advance and providing airport transfer service afterwards. The rooms were also very clean. The breakfast, including freshly made wontons, noodles, and fruit, was excellent. The Chinese restaurant was also reasonably priced and served both lunch and dinner. As for the hotel's location, it's in a local residential area with small and medium-sized supermarkets and plenty of barbecue restaurants nearby. It's about 3 kilometers from Datong Ancient City, making it easy to call a ride-hailing service."

"The room was very nice, well decorated and had great facilities. The head of the bed is covered with wall coverings and embroidered paintings (Photo 2). The glass walkway used for the patio (Photo 3), when you walk up you can see the cacti below, which is quite interesting. Walk back and forth more often and you will probably get used to the glass bridge. It should be because the decoration was completed not long ago, there is still a bit of decoration smell, but it is not that pungent smell. The children said there is no formaldehyde smell."

The most touching thing is that I came back from eating the knife noodles in the morning, and the sun shone on the snow on the eaves, suggesting that my first encounter with this millennium ancient city is in this medley."

"During our trip in China this was the most memorable Hotel. The hotel was really nice in the ancient city near the Prince residence and City Walls. The building has a traditional patio inside (covered) with a pool with fishes. The room was big, the bed very comfortable, nice bathroom, the room got all we needed for the stay (fridge, tea set etc...). Everyting vas very clean and tidy. The owner is really nice and caring, she came to pick us up at the station even if was late in the evening ad took us back at the check out. She helped us with our visit and suggested really good restaurants. The breakfast is in the nice patio, it is very good and traditional. I really hope I can visit again, I will surely suggest the hotel to my friends or anyone visiting Datong. Thank You!!!"

"This hotel deserves a five-star rating! Besides enjoying the scenery, the most important thing when traveling is good food and sleep, and this hotel delivers on both counts perfectly. The bedding is soft and snug, and the pillows are incredibly comfortable. I slept soundly all night, and before leaving, I was even tempted to buy a pillow to take home. The breakfast was surprisingly generous, with a wide variety of Chinese and Western dishes, including local specialties like knife-cut noodles and mutton offal noodles—all prepared to order by the chef. The warm food was packed with authentic flavor, and every bite was filled with care. The accommodation experience didn't stop there; the hotel also offers amenities like a laundry room and a gym, making travel more convenient. In just two days, I not only fell in love with Datong, but also developed a special fondness for this hotel. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I bring my family. A quick suggestion: Datong has a lot of unique cultural and creative products. If the hotel could provide some cultural and creative gifts for the children staying with us, it would surely be even more popular with families. Finally, I must commend the hotel's service staff. From check-in to check-out, they were incredibly thoughtful and attentive. Their warm, home-like warmth truly enhanced our stay. I especially want to commend Siqin, the hotel's hostess, and the driver who took us to the station—their service was truly heartwarming! Siqin's warm smile was incredibly warm throughout the entire experience. Whether patiently explaining the facilities during check-in or promptly responding to any questions along the way, she was incredibly attentive and caring, like family. It's these subtle touches of warmth that made the entire stay even more touching. I absolutely give them a huge thumbs up!"
