"The hotel overall is great for the price paid, and service was excellent especially from the Vietnamese girl at the front desk who speaks English AND Japanese fluently. Even Japanese guests thought she was Jap. Haha. However, the company could do with hiring a bit more staff as there are things that need a bit more attention and some repairs needed in the room. That being said, the rooms are huge! The outdoor onsen was also colder than expected (although this is explained during check in) and is best in the morning."

"4.5 stars!  Property is older but extremely well maintained.  The corner western/Japanese rooms are spacious with two western beds and tatami area, single japanese bath and shower area and separate toilet area, mini fridge, tv, sitting area overlooking the river and table with four chairs as well as a massage chair!  Onsen area has both indoor and outdoor areas separate for men and women and a cold plunge as well as multiple hot baths.  Minus half a star for low staffing in the store/cafe areas (often no staff member to be found when kakigori desired), no in house lunch option and overly fatty meat on the 3rd night dinner (breakfast and dinner were LARGE and BEAUTIFUL but perhaps heavy on the yuba.  Also, shuttle to the train station is only at 10 and 11am and getting cabs is difficult.  However, would overwhelmingly recommend Nikko Senhime Monogatari!"

"This hotel is recommended. Great buffets with variety of options (japanese, western, tempura, wagyu). Fruit taste was not as good as we expected though and you might not feel excited much about the food after a couple days as they’re pretty much the same. Wonderful public baht with generous amenities provided. Pajama is not needed if you enjoy wearing yukata and sock when sleeping at night as we did. Staff were also friendly. We had a great time overall."

"The hotel is located on top of the hill, is not very convenient to get there. The shuttle bus from Nikko station is fully booked even we tried to book 1 day in advance as recommended on their website which only written in Japanese. There is no shuttle provided to pick up from the hotel bus stop. With luggage it’s definitely more than 7min up hill walk. The room we book comes with an open air bath, but was informed that the open air bath in room cannot be use during winter due to frozen pipe condition. The food is mediocre, nothing special."

There are also free massage chairs in the lounge outside. Breakfast and dinner were both delicious. (The terrace of the restaurant has a very nice view. There are lounge chairs inside where you can lie down all afternoon with a glass of happy water while enjoying the wind) The video below was taken from the balcony of the room."

GGuest UserThis small, beautiful hotel is tastefully decorated with Japanese art and objects. We chose Western-style beds.  The room was spacious and airy. Sandals are provided for walking in the hallways; no shoes or sandals on the room’s traditional mats.  Breakfast and dinner are high cuisine, artfully presented in private dining rooms. The set dinner menu is 7 courses and way too much food, even with small individual portions of each serving (similar to a tasting menu, but highly traditional Japanese). The sashimi was the freshest I have ever eaten. The chef accommodated our dietary restriction of no meat. Shuttle vans can be arranged for pick up and drop off at train stations and local shrines. The staff’s English is limited so find a good translation app.

GGuest UserThe food was very good. Dinners were excellent, served to us in a private room. The outdoor.Onsen Was a pleasure. Travelers should be aware that this hotel is not located near the fabulous temples And shrines of Nikko.  Instead, it takes two local trains to get there. The hotel has wonderful views of the river but the area is overbuilt. So pluses and minuses. The hotel was very strict about its check out policy.

SShuweicao_#Nikko Hoshino Yado was, without a doubt, the most stunning chapter of our trip. It's much more than just a hotel; it's a living temple of Japanese aesthetics. The beauty of its garden is comparable to the renowned Ruriko-in – the same interplay of light and shadow, the same myriad shades of autumn leaves, but with an added sense of private immersion. Staying in a room with a view of the autumn foliage, the window frame becomes a canvas, with the ever-changing seasonal scenery as its most priceless artwork. The kaiseki dinners and breakfasts are not merely a feast for the taste buds but also a visual art. Each dish is like a delicate haiku, narrating the seasonal stories of Nikko through the finest ingredients of the season. Then, sinking into the indoor and outdoor *furo* (baths), letting the warm spring water embrace your body, you can gaze upon the autumn colors of the garden or the starlit night sky. This ambiance is simply perfect. This wasn't just a stay; it was a profound healing experience centered around Japanese beauty.

AAnonymous UserFirst of all, let me praise the hotel's service. It is simply a model. You can experience 100% care, 100% seriousness, and 100% diligence. In addition to meeting the various requirements of guests, a tip is that when you arrive at Kinugawa Onsen Station, you don’t need to take a ride. Let the hotel know in advance and the hotel will send a car to pick you up at the station. Of course, it will also be delivered to the station. In fact, the station is not far from the hotel, only a few hundred meters, and it is quite fast to walk there. The restaurant's food quality is good, whether for breakfast or dinner, it is worthy of praise. Sometimes the restaurant is full of customers and the three waitresses keep running around. It’s so hard. The hot spring water is so hot that I'll be sweating after a while. The room is large in size and the facilities are average. Because the price is not expensive, there are so many guests here that it is always full. Yes, a good hotel will naturally attract more people.

KKatsumiIt was far from the station and I rented a car. There are few rice shops around, but there are. Dinner at the inn breakfast was very good. I think it's a good meal to taste ”special”. The hot spring was also good. However, be careful because the metal is darkened. The room was good. It's a waste of two days a night. The view of Lake Chuzenji was also the best. Next time I want to go see the autumn leaves.

TTsusieA premium hotel & hotspring in kinugagawa onsen, this hotel also is famous all over japan, because of superb hotspring creation made by a big rock, very new & romantic interior design especially in the lobby,w/ an luxurios chandelier, the outside view is amazing, the famous fureai bridge in kinugawa & river is in the front ,very nice autumn view outside, the room is big,but don't have a telephone & dresser, the food is superb but if you want to drink alcohol, you need to reserve from the front desk during check-in.Intagramable view inside & outside, but don't go here by walking with baggage because of the high stairs in fureai bridge, there's a shuttle bus but you need to pay 300yen.Overall,you can feel the scenic views even you don't go outside,Thanks always Trip.com for very nice booking, more power & God bless always

GGuest UserLocation was ok, it's easy to access if you drive. Slightly further up above Nikko. There's beautiful lake just right in front of the hotel. Hotel is pretty new, the only downside is there is no dinner/breakfast included (we choose dinner and breakfast but somehow, they don't provide dinner/breakfast in winter season). They offered each of us 1800 yen for compensation which we could use it in their souvenir shop (you may buy drinks, snacks and bento box, there is microwave in their lobby). We don't really want bento for dinner, hence we drove about 10mins to nearby to have dinner, actually turns out not bad, good food with affordable price. If we knew dinner and breakfast was not available in the hotel, we would have booked another hotel.

GGuest UserMy first time visit to Japan and I was after an authentic Japanese accommodation. I booked a Japanese Style room with futon beds which were very comfortable. The room was beautiful and very clean. My booking also included breakfast and dinner which were always outstanding, beautifully prepared and unique food items. They utilized farm to table dining and the women explained each item served. They provided and encouraged one to wear Kimonos’s /tabi socks / slippers during one’s stay at, “ Nikko Iwaiyado Juyan “. Which further contributed to the authentic Japanese vibe. Indoor and outdoor hot tubs were amazing. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. The hotel is nestled within mountains and the setting serene. Hotel is family owned and they take pride in caring for their guests.

GGuest UserIt was a nice inn with a Showa-era feel to it. However, there were a lot of stairs, and it was painful to see elderly people struggling with the stairs and the bath. The bridge leading from the main building to the annex where we had dinner was dark and scary, like a survival zone. I was upset when I made a mistake with the kanji in my name, but I was glad that they took care of it right away. I was busy eating, so I wondered if it was okay because someone was running around.
