"Participated in the Dalian Marathon. This was my second time visiting Dalian, and just like my previous trip during the 2019 Qingming holiday, I stayed at the InterContinental. The location is super convenient, with a subway station right outside. I usually head towards Zhongshan Square Station, but on checkout day, the doorman, the guy with the long hair in a ponytail, recommended Friendly Square Station and even walked me to the intersection. I really appreciated that! The hotel breakfast was fantastic and had a great variety, including Dalian specialties like sea cucumber porridge with rice and kidney bean clam noodles, plus roujiamo (Chinese hamburger), wraps, and fried dough sticks. I got to try them all! Housekeeping was very prompt; every day I'd leave in the morning and come back in the afternoon to a clean room. The bathroom was spacious and well-lit. The only minor downside was that the room didn't have a main overhead light, making it a bit dim."

"The room facilities are quite good, and there's a smart toilet. However, the outlets on both sides of the bed in the suite bedroom are very loose. Even after having engineering come to fix them once, chargers still sometimes fall out when plugged in. If the air conditioning is on high fan speed, it makes a rattling noise, which is a bit disruptive to sleep, especially at night. During the off-season, the lounge is located in the lobby bar. Afternoon tea is set menu style and the quality is just okay. The evening service is also in the lobby bar, but one evening when I went, it was already roped off with no staff around. I had to call the front desk to get someone to come. I'm not sure if the lobby bar staff are aware that the executive lounge benefits have moved there, it's confusing. Dinner is also a set menu, with the menu changing and offering both noodles and rice – generally simple meals."

"When we checked in, the front desk specifically told us that the breakfast area downstairs would be very crowded during the May Day holiday, and there would be long queues during peak dining hours. They suggested we upgrade to the executive floor for a small fee, which would allow us to have breakfast upstairs and enjoy exclusive executive lounge privileges. We decided to try it out and upgraded, and it was absolutely worth it! The VIP floor truly lives up to its VIP status; it's a completely different experience. Firstly, the dining environment upstairs is excellent – quiet and comfortable, with no need to jostle for space or queue. Most importantly, the staff ladies on the executive floor are incredibly gentle and attentive, providing super thoughtful service. They go above and beyond to fulfill any request, truly exceptional. When I booked the hotel, I spent a long time searching online, and this was one of the highest-rated hotels in Dalian. Having stayed here myself, I now understand that their excellent service is genuinely felt in every interaction. Overall, the stay was very genuine and incredibly comfortable. I sincerely thank every hotel staff member for their hard work. I will definitely stay here again next time I visit Dalian!"

"For our May Day trip to Dalian, we specifically chose the Shangri-La Dalian, a classic five-star hotel that's been open for nearly 30 years. Overall, the service was reassuring. Despite the large holiday crowds, the hotel handled the peak well. They temporarily expanded the lobby lounge into a breakfast area, and the dining experience was orderly. The staff at the Horizon Club on the 25th floor were also gentle and patient, very friendly towards children. Their exclusive breakfast, snacks, and dinner were particularly thoughtful. I must give a special shout-out to the hotel's swimming pool! The space is tall, spacious, and filled with sunlight. The entire area feels dry and not stuffy. The public areas were meticulously clean, and the pool service was excellent. The pool depth design is incredibly reasonable; the main pool's shallowest point is 1.3 meters, and there's a dedicated shallow children's pool, perfect for infants and toddlers. It's very family-friendly, and the kids had a great time. The basic room space was sufficient, with a practical sofa, work area, and luggage rack. However, the hardware issues due to its age were prominent: the mattress was too firm and light, and there were few pillow options, leading to an average sleep experience. The bathroom lacked a separate toilet room, and the sink area was cramped. Additionally, the bath towels were too small and thin, not meeting five-star standards. I recommend the hotel promptly replace mattresses, pillows, and other amenities, and upgrade consumables to improve overall detail quality."

"First, the pros: 1. The sea view from the room is unbeatable. Lying in bed and watching the sea was incredibly relaxing. 2. The location is great. You can just walk downstairs and stroll around Xinghai Square, and the elevator offers a panoramic view of the entire square. 3. The service was decent. Most requests were met, but there were still some areas where they fell short. Cons: 1. The facilities are a bit dated. The shower water fluctuated between hot and cold, and the shower faucet was so confusing – it took me ages to figure it out by trial and error. It was also incredibly stiff and hard to turn, and I was worried about breaking it, which was a hassle. 2. The breakfast selection was too limited and felt quite perfunctory. The taste was just average. There wasn't even a coffee machine in the room. For 2000 a night during the May Day holiday, these facilities simply don't justify the price. 3. The windows were too dirty, which really impacted the beauty of my photos. 4. You have to go downstairs yourself to pick up food deliveries. As for luggage, they only helped us take it from the car to the front desk, not up to the room. 5. The parking in front of the lobby was chaotic. Some cars were blocking the entrance, and our taxi was stuck outside and couldn't get in. The security staff didn't do a good job of directing vehicles. Overall, it's a very average five-star hotel standard. It's definitely not worth 2000/day; it's more like a 1000-level hotel. The sea view premium probably accounts for a large portion of the room rate."

"I had a very satisfying stay. The location is excellent, making it convenient to get to various places. There's a direct passage on the fourth floor to the mall, which is entirely dedicated to restaurants and an IMAX cinema. On the first basement floor, there's a supermarket and a florist. I bought live seafood from the supermarket and had the vendor steam it for me to take back to my room – the flower crabs and conches were absolutely amazing. Parking is available right outside, free of charge. The room facilities are great; the shower head and water temperature were perfect, and I used the washer and dryer multiple times. The hairdryer is also high-speed. Overall, everything was ideal."

"Super satisfied with our family trip to Dalian Xinghai Holiday Hotel! We stayed in a sea-view family room, and the view was absolutely stunning. The hotel environment is comfortable and quiet, the breakfast is rich and delicious, and right downstairs you have the sailboat seascape. The club also has a great view. The kids absolutely loved it, and our overall experience was perfect. Highly recommend for families traveling with children~"

"Location: Near Xinghai Square, it's convenient to go anywhere. Didi (ride-sharing) is cheap and fast, with almost no waiting time. Service: The staff were attentive and thoughtful throughout. Guest Relations Manager Connie Chen contacted us in advance. The greeter at the breakfast restaurant, honestly, the breakfast was quite average, but her proactive and considerate service made up for it. Even the concierge in the lobby was very proactive in providing service. I would choose this hotel again next time. Room: It's a single building, but some floors are business offices. However, the elevators effectively bypass those floors. The high-floor views are also excellent. We were on the 48th floor. The sofa in the room can even be pulled out into an extra bed, so a twin room essentially becomes a triple room. I highly recommend this for parents with children! (I suggest they could put a small card, like Hilton does, explaining that the sofa converts into a bed; we only discovered it on the second day.) Our child accidentally stained the carpet with milk tea, and I think the handling was excellent. They quickly cleaned it while we were out, and the 200 yuan charge was acceptable. It also teaches the little one to be more careful and appreciative in the future. Dalian is truly beautiful, I've recommended it to many friends, and I'll also recommend staying at this hotel!"

"The environment is quite pleasant and uplifting. The decor and location are both great, giving the hotel a wonderful sense of history. However, I was a bit unhappy with the room's design; there were many mirrors facing the bed, which made sleeping uncomfortable at night. Secondly, when we went for the photoshoot, the three retouched photos were sent very slowly, and the photographer seemed reluctant. If the hotel doesn't want to offer this service, they shouldn't use it for marketing in the future. The subsequent photos were also delivered very slowly. The hotel photoshoot (3 retouched digital photos) was very perfunctory. I'd advise anyone considering this hotel specifically for that service to be cautious."
