"The hotel's facilities are excellent, but the service was extremely disappointing. I specifically booked a large suite for four days to relax and chat with friends and play cards. However, two unfriendly guests next door fabricated stories, claiming we knocked on the wrong door and made noise. In reality, we were always careful to keep quiet. Despite this, the hotel, without verifying the facts, sent staff to disturb us multiple times in the middle of the night—they opened our door three times and we received a phone call. To prove our innocence, we even went to the surveillance room and confirmed from the footage that we never knocked on the wrong door. Overall, the hotel's handling and resolution of disputes were quite unprofessional."

"The service attitude was exceptionally good. When a line started forming for check-in, more staff immediately came to the front desk to assist. They also offer late check-out. The room service was impeccable, and they provided a crib. There were complimentary welcome fruits. The breakfast selection was quite rich, including knife-cut noodles and freshly ground coffee at the counter. The overall environment was very good, fitting the description of an older, established five-star hotel. I requested a non-smoking room in advance, and indeed, there was no smoke smell. The bathroom drain didn't have any unpleasant odors either; generally, there were no strange smells. The window could be opened, which at least prevented stuffiness. In late May, after 8 PM, the air conditioning could be turned on for cooling. The shower water pressure was excellent, which was a big plus. The family deluxe suite had two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a connecting door, which was the main reason I chose this hotel. The room size was ample. The only downside was that the mattress was too soft. The hairdryer was a Dyson model, and the sink was large enough for three people to use simultaneously. The soundproofing was good, and overall, I was very satisfied. The cleanliness was also up to standard. I had read reviews about staff helping with luggage, and traveling by car with an infant, I was really hoping for some assistance. However, no one was at the parking lot. Perhaps this service isn't available unless there's special weather. Parking was very convenient though."

Top-tier hardware, abysmal service, completely ruining the stay experience! Choose with caution. Objectively speaking, this Wyndham hotel's facilities are definitely among the best in Datong. The rooms and amenities are flawless. I had high expectations for the hardware experience, but the entire stay was ruined by the extremely poor service. I'm giving a bad review, no room for negotiation. I came to check in on a Monday lunchtime, not a holiday. The hotel, along with Yun'gang Hotel, was hosting a conference that day, so there was already a significant flow of guests. However, only one front desk counter was open, and there were seven or eight people in front of me. I waited a full ten minutes before it was my turn. Just when it was finally my turn, a female staff member in a black suit, who seemed to be a supervisor, suddenly came over. She didn't make eye contact with me the entire time, didn't even say a polite ”Please wait,” but instead just curtly said ”Wait a moment.” Then she proceeded to operate the front desk computer, completely ignoring me and not saying a word, leaving me standing there for a full 5 minutes, feeling awkward and speechless. After she finished and walked away, I was completely bewildered. I went up and asked why she wasn't checking me in. She actually said she was handling check-ins for the conference attendees. I immediately got angry and asked her why she didn't tell me upfront that she was only serving conference guests, making me wait for nothing. She, in turn, self-righteously replied, ”How was I supposed to know you weren't a conference attendee?” Conference attendees were clearly wearing their exclusive badges. As a lobby staff member, is she incapable of even the most basic observation and distinction? Her attitude was arrogant and contemptuous throughout, and she didn't even offer an apology. When I questioned her terrible service attitude, she completely ignored me and just walked away. Paying the same price, should regular individual guests be treated with such neglect and disregard? As a high-end hotel, are these the service standards and communication skills of the lobby staff? They completely disrespect customers and lack basic service awareness. How exactly does this hotel conduct its employee training? I stayed here for two days, and I don't want to say anything else. Just because of this terrible check-in experience, no matter how good the hardware is, I will definitely not come back. I also advise anyone looking for a comfortable stay to choose with caution! If the service doesn't keep up, even the best hardware is meaningless. Service: Too poor"

"This hotel is located within the ancient city walls and has its own restaurant, serving a good breakfast. I booked a Ryan twin room this time, which had an external window that could be opened – great for when it got too warm at night. The hotel is just across the street from Huayan Temple and isn't far from popular spots like Xijin Dao, Fengling Pavilion, and Zini 369, making it super convenient for getting around. They even offered extra bottles of water at check-in. The cleaning staff not only tidied up but also folded my pajamas, which was a lovely touch."

"This hotel has a classic, old-school charm, and it's good in the traditional sense. Our high-floor room offered excellent views (we might have gotten lucky and were assigned a room overlooking the ancient city). It was well-equipped, despite the slightly outdated design (e.g., fewer bedside outlets and a manual, classic-style toilet), spacious, and clean. The housekeeping was very thoughtful; they replenished amenities based on our usage and provided a fruit plate, pear soup, and a kind note daily. The breakfast buffet was satisfying with a wide selection and comfortable ambiance. The à la carte Chinese restaurant, in particular, left a deep impression with its unexpectedly high quality and great value for money (the dishes shown are all small portions, so please excuse my photo collection, which looks like a restaurant review, haha). All in all, a great review!"

"I came to this hotel after hearing great things about it, and it definitely lives up to the hype. It's a peaceful oasis in a bustling area, beautifully designed, and perfect for photos. The facilities are top-notch, with a sophisticated wabi-sabi aesthetic. The rooms are spacious with a well-thought-out layout. The only thing that needs improvement is the service consistency. On the day we arrived, we were quite disappointed with both the lobby and restaurant staff. The waiter at dinner couldn't recommend local dishes and we had to call them over for water refills. Also, during the evening guzheng performance in the lobby, guests weren't offered any tea – it felt quite unprofessional. However, after providing feedback to the hotel the next day, we saw a significant improvement, as if a completely different management team had taken over. A special thank you to Manager Lin and Wang Juli from the restaurant. Manager Lin was attentive to customer suggestions and promptly adjusted the management, adding a human touch to the excellent hardware. Wang Juli from the restaurant was warm, enthusiastic, and highly efficient, which elevated our experience considerably! I hope the hotel continues to strengthen its service management with such 'warmth' to truly justify its pricing."

"I discovered a treasure of a B&B hotel that opened this month~~ Pingchengfu is very close to various attractions. In two days, I went to Yungang Grottoes, Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, Datong Museum, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, Jingtu Temple, and watched the sunset from the city wall, the intangible cultural heritage of iron flower, etc. Datong city construction is great! Overall, the accommodation experience was full, and I also ate at Kaige Restaurant and Longjuxiang recommended by locals. The overall travel experience was great! Thank you for the service of the B&B brothers and sisters, which is very good. The environment is quiet in the bustling city, and the decoration is antique. "I've wanted to stay here for a long time, and this family trip finally made that dream come true. The check-in experience was excellent, and the facilities showed incredible attention to detail. The complimentary toiletries pack even included electric toothbrushes and Gillette razors, and all the snacks provided were from Sam's Club. Breakfast was exceptional – an à la carte style where they'd prepare whatever you ordered. Everything tasted fantastic, and there were plenty of choices. Enjoying delicious pastries in the courtyard under the sun was a truly wonderful experience! In the evening, friends came over, and we sat on the courtyard sofa, chatted, drank tea, and watched the clouds in the night sky. We even caught a drone show from Dai Wang Mansion, which was truly delightful! We also toured the owner's private museum and wine cellar. It certainly lives up to its reputation as a courtyard built with 200 million yuan; the main gate in the middle is 200 years old. Every detail exudes taste and grandeur! The service was excellent too. Although there weren't many staff members, they were very responsive. When my shoes got wet in the heavy rain, they even brought a hairdryer to dry them for me – I was truly grateful! In short, the value for money at this price is unbeatable! Five-star recommendation! 👍👍👍👍👍 Overall, a fantastic stay, but I do have a few suggestions to offer: 1. Only the door could be opened for ventilation in the room; the windows didn't open. It would be great if there was a way to allow for cross-ventilation. 2. The hotel doesn't provide parking vouchers. While overnight parking was only 20 yuan, offering vouchers would enhance the guest experience. 3. Perhaps due to concerns about some guests occupying a room with too many people, I was repeatedly asked during check-in how many individuals were staying in our room, which I found a bit off-putting."
