"This hotel is a real value for money. It has excellent location, modern room amenities. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast has a wide range of varieties. The hotel has a restaurant called Fenglingge which serves great local cuisine with reasonable price. For hotel guest, there is a RMB60 restaurant voucher given to offset the restaurant bill at Fenglingge. One of the staff at Fenglingge, Liu Guangzhen 刘光珍 is very attentive and helpful and provides great service."

"The hotel is excellent! Located in Datong Ancient City, it's incredibly convenient to all the attractions, just a ten-minute drive from anywhere. It's also next to Southeast Yi, a great spot for city walks. The rooms were very comfortable; even in temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius, the rooms were warm and cozy. The service was attentive, and the room amenities were high-quality, matching the hotel's standards. A perfect experience! I'd love to come back in the summer!"

"The hotel lobby is impressive, clearly a renovated old hotel but doesn't feel dated. The breakfast restaurant has a great ambiance, and the abundant breakfast is definitely worth trying, with waterside seating available. The bedroom is spacious and generally clean, with smart home features throughout, which is very convenient. The toiletries, tissues, and slippers are all high-quality, and the shower water pressure is excellent. The soundproofing in the room is also good. The only drawback is that the carpet is a bit old. The Fenglin Pavilion downstairs has delicious food, and they even give out vouchers. The complimentary bathhouse isn't worth visiting; it's very small. It's definitely worth the price during the off-season; for under 600, it's impeccable."

"I booked two rooms for 4, and we were given rooms beside each other. We arrived late at night around 9.30pm and check in went smoothly. Rooms were very comfortable and were equipped with SMART tech with voice activation! We were also able to check out a little later upon request since our train left later in the afternoon. I also had packages delivered to the reception and had no issues. Location was great and easy to explore the ancient city and also to see the main wall itself. One thing to note is that there isn't a formal drop off point but you can definitely get dropped off and picked up along the side of the road. The room layout was slightly different than the images on Trip.com (I booked a Double bedroom with courtyard view with a stay voucher), but the room was good too although I would have preferred the toilet configuration in the photos. Overall, a great place to stay and I'd definitely stay here again if I get to come back to Datong. They also have a bakery at the lobby and it gets sold out pretty quickly!"

"Jianguo Hotel is an older establishment with somewhat outdated facilities and small rooms, though it's clean. I have to talk about the breakfast – it's incredibly varied! There are several made-to-order dishes like lamb powder, pancakes, and knife-cut noodles, plus various local snacks. They even have 6-7 types of bread and 7-8 kinds of fruit. I've stayed in at least 70-80 hotels, and their breakfast is definitely the best. Also, guests at Jianguo Hotel can enjoy a sauna every evening, and the service at the recreation department is top-notch. I stayed for two days and went to the sauna both nights. The staff even placed a cup and a toothbrush with toothpaste squeezed on it right in front of me – the service is thoughtful and the attitude is kind. When I left, they even put the used wet towel in a bag for guests to take away. Next time I come to Datong, I will definitely stay at Yungang Jianguo Hotel again. However, there are still some areas for improvement; the floor in the room had some stains and wasn't cleaned thoroughly enough."

"This is my second stay in a month! Last time, my husband and I made a spontaneous trip to Datong to see the grottoes and stayed here, and we were pleasantly surprised. This time, we specifically brought our elders to see the historical sites and stayed for a few more days, so of course we chose Nianxiali Hotel in the southeast of the ancient city. The hotel has a superb location; Lihuaijiao, next to Taipinglou, is a popular spot for taking photos, and it's extremely convenient to visit various attractions in the ancient city. The hotel is built in the style of a traditional northern courtyard house, with simple architecture and modern facilities, maintaining excellent privacy while being very aesthetically pleasing. On a nice day, it's very pleasant to sit in the courtyard. Even more valuable is the attentive service. The butler service goes beyond routine Q&A; every staff member at the hotel greets guests with a warm smile. The service details are also reflected in the thoughtful offering of hot tea and snacks upon arrival each day, and a souvenir upon departure, meeting all sorts of small needs while traveling. In addition, the hotel's pick-up and drop-off service is very high-end, with Mercedes-Benz or Alphard vans giving guests a sense of luxury. I've heard that Datong has a very festive atmosphere during the Spring Festival. I look forward to experiencing it next time!"

"The hotel has its own parking lot and is an established five-star property with complete facilities. The breakfast selection is quite extensive, and there's a swimming pool. We were also given complimentary fruit and pear soup. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back!"

"It is a treasure hotel for this trip to Datong. It is not far from Datong South Station and about 30 minutes away from the ancient city. There is a Wanda Plaza next door, which is a relatively reasonable location away from the tourist army. The hotel colleagues are very professional. When checking in on the 1st, they gave me a refrigerator magnet, welcomed me to Datong and introduced the nearby delicious food and the hotel's scenic shuttle bus in detail. Because we need to leave for the Hanging Temple at 5 am, we also prepared a portable breakfast in advance. The hotel breakfast is also quite special, with pancakes and Mongolian milk tea haha. The room is relatively new and spacious, and it is also quite clean. There are also free fruits for check-in. In general, I would like to recommend this hotel to friends."

"I've wanted to stay here for a long time, and this family trip finally made that dream come true. The check-in experience was excellent, and the facilities showed incredible attention to detail. The complimentary toiletries pack even included electric toothbrushes and Gillette razors, and all the snacks provided were from Sam's Club. Breakfast was exceptional – an à la carte style where they'd prepare whatever you ordered. Everything tasted fantastic, and there were plenty of choices. Enjoying delicious pastries in the courtyard under the sun was a truly wonderful experience! In the evening, friends came over, and we sat on the courtyard sofa, chatted, drank tea, and watched the clouds in the night sky. We even caught a drone show from Dai Wang Mansion, which was truly delightful! We also toured the owner's private museum and wine cellar. It certainly lives up to its reputation as a courtyard built with 200 million yuan; the main gate in the middle is 200 years old. Every detail exudes taste and grandeur! The service was excellent too. Although there weren't many staff members, they were very responsive. When my shoes got wet in the heavy rain, they even brought a hairdryer to dry them for me – I was truly grateful! In short, the value for money at this price is unbeatable! Five-star recommendation! 👍👍👍👍👍 Overall, a fantastic stay, but I do have a few suggestions to offer: 1. Only the door could be opened for ventilation in the room; the windows didn't open. It would be great if there was a way to allow for cross-ventilation. 2. The hotel doesn't provide parking vouchers. While overnight parking was only 20 yuan, offering vouchers would enhance the guest experience. 3. Perhaps due to concerns about some guests occupying a room with too many people, I was repeatedly asked during check-in how many individuals were staying in our room, which I found a bit off-putting."

"This hotel was a pleasant surprise! The location is great; it's a quick taxi or bike ride to the ancient city. Popular local eateries like Xijindao and Beiweijiayan are right nearby. I also highly recommend the hotel restaurant – the food was delicious. They have both above-ground and underground parking, and the lot is huge and free. We got a complimentary room upgrade at check-in, which offered a fantastic view. The room itself was spacious, and the bathroom had a great dry/wet separation design with excellent natural light. The hotel breakfast was good, especially the lamb offal rice noodles – they were amazing! The service attitude was excellent; they patiently helped us with any issues we had. They even gave us a thoughtful departure gift of local specialties, which was a lovely touch. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Datong."
