"The location is great, nestled between Yingxun Gate (South Gate) and Shangxi Gate, making it convenient for sightseeing yet surprisingly quiet. The facilities are good, but what really impressed me was picture #2 [assuming this refers to a specific feature/amenity shown in a picture]. I hope they can plug in the outlets before guests check in. The buckwheat pillow was very comfortable! The service was excellent; they communicated in advance about pickup/drop-off and even offered to drive me to attractions. Breakfast was abundant, featuring local specialties like Pingyao beef. It was well-balanced and tasty. The menu changed over the two days, though for me, there was a bit too much meat. If a full buffet isn't feasible, perhaps offering an à la carte menu where guests can choose their items would help reduce waste. And the cats at the hotel are adorable!"

"The location is right by the ancient city gate. You can park your car directly at the gate and walk in. This homestay is very thoughtful; they helped us book discounted tickets for 'Another Pingyao' in advance, and during our stay, they assisted with calling taxis, booking restaurants, and arranging a tour guide. When an elder accidentally fell in the room, the landlady even bought spray and plasters for them. The room was very comfortable, and the breakfast had a good variety and was delicious; they were also flexible with adding or removing items, and there was a sweet soup every day. The only minor complaint might be that the pillows were a bit too firm..."

"We stayed one night at this hotel and had a really lovely experience. The service was wonderful, everyone was super helpful and friendly. They picked us up and dropped us at the station which was such a nice touch and made everything very easy. We had a very nice Chinese breakfast, they went through what was included. they gave us really good recommendations for things to see and where to eat in the ancient city. The hotel itself is very beautiful and quiet, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Pingyao Ancient City is such a charming place, full of history, and it’s definitely worth staying overnight to see it all lit up in the evening. We would definitely recommend this hotel and just want to say thank you to everyone for making our stay so lovely 😊"

"A very nice hotel with very friendly staff and nice rooms. We recommend the VIP building. The breakfast was chinese and western. The hotel is placed outside the city wall and can be reached easily with taxi or DiDi, but only a few steps to enter the ancient city area. The only field to improve is some basic English for foreign guests, but at the end we managed to communicate :-). See you again!"

"What an amazing stay we had. They even upgraded us to another luxury room because there was a slight problem with the living room light. The place is really well kept and beautiful. Very peaceful and central location . The people at the reception were very helpful and kept us in touch with we chat all the time.they even came for us and took us back to the station. Breakfast was devine ::)) . Highly recommend to stay if you plan to come to beautiful pingyao. Thanks guys for your great service. Keep it up."

"Pro + It is a new and beautiful place to stay. + Very kind, friendly and polite staff. + Spacious bathroom. + When leaving early the taxi driver can pick you up in front of the hotel. Cons — The hotel is too expensive. — Not a smoke free hotel. There was even smoke inside the lobby and the second night it was all over our room too (airconditioning?). — The first night we tried the dinner, but it was not good. They have photos of the food, but it doesn’t match with what you get. We ordered salmon sushi and got FROZEN sushi instead which was obviously not eatable. — When we asked for a tea on the terrace we were charged 48 Yuan per person which is way too expensive. — The bedroom is a bit too small and has the same size as the bathroom."

As someone who's sensitive to the cold, my biggest worry when traveling is chilly accommodations, but the underfloor heating throughout the entire house was a pleasant surprise—I was enveloped in warmth the moment I stepped inside, instantly shedding my heavy coat and letting my fatigue melt away as I walked barefoot on the warm floor! The indoor temperature was just right, comfortably and naturally warm! What was even more touching was the consistently enthusiastic service. I received a confirmation message for pick-up before departure, and as soon as I exited the high-speed rail station, I saw staff who proactively helped with my luggage and opened the car door. We chatted about local travel tips along the way, and I easily arrived at my accommodation in just twenty minutes. Upon check-in, the front desk patiently explained how to use the facilities and even shared tips on avoiding peak tourist seasons during the New Year's holiday. During my stay, they responded incredibly quickly to any needs I had, and their attentive attention to detail made me feel incredibly welcome, like being at a friend's house. I must praise the free pick-up and drop-off service! During the New Year's Day holiday, train stations are crowded and congested. No need to worry about taxis or lugging luggage around; the hotel provides round-trip transportation from the station, saving you time and hassle—perfect for families traveling with elderly members and young children. From the comforting underfloor heating to the warm and attentive service, and the hassle-free station transfers, every detail at Pingyuan Gongfu Hotel caters to your travel needs. This New Year's Day, this pleasant accommodation experience made my trip incredibly enjoyable! I've already recommended it to friends who are traveling, and I'll definitely choose it again next time!"

"One of the best stay experience in China. The location is at the center of the old City. Close to many tourist attractions and the busy south street. The hotel rooms are just IN the traditional Shanxi luxury mansion. Very unique experience. But what makes the stay one of the best is the butler service.
