"The absolute highlight of this hotel is definitely the view. The room facilities are pretty standard, as it's an older hotel. The kids absolutely loved the pool area, especially the slide. In the afternoon, when the tide went out, we could go to the beach and collect starfish, and we saw so many fish! It's a shame we only stayed one night; we'd love to go back again if we get the chance!"

"Marco Polo Plaza, Cebu Review Here is a two-paragraph review that balances the atmosphere of the hotel with the quality of the service: We had a wonderful stay at the Marco Polo Plaza. The hotel offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and the views from the Nivel Hills are absolutely stunning. Our room was clean, spacious, and provided the perfect environment for a relaxing getaway. What really stood out, however, was the exceptional service. The staff were incredibly professional and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable throughout our visit. From the delicious breakfast buffet to the well-maintained pool area, everything exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be returning!"

"Reception was a bit cold. Emailed them we’re celebrating our wedding anniversary and requested a surprise room set up for my husband yet the manager does not read email on time as they knocked on the door at 6pm to offer the “surprise”. Bathroom toiletries are ill equipped— for the price of the room I don’t want to be asking room services for lotion or earbuds! Booked a celebratory dinner at Dip, their open wines are past their acceptable rate, we requested to open a fresh bottle. Surprised to see them return the “expired ones” back on shelf after using an “oxy vacuum machine”. Sad. Our server is very good and polite, a snappy young man (sorry forgot his name). Thank you dong, you’re really attentive. Food: Beef cheek was good, but not the Wagyu beef, it has a lot of inedible parts— disappointing for the price. The side dishes were good. Breakfast is an okay spread."

"This was by far the most satisfying hotel stay I've ever had. Firstly, the price was incredibly reasonable, yet the services available even before check-in were extensive, making my arrival comfortable from the very first moment. I also used the bar and had afternoon tea; both the atmosphere and service were wonderful, allowing for a truly luxurious experience. The room was spotless, and the facilities and comfort were impeccable. The direct connection to a shopping complex made shopping and dining incredibly convenient. Furthermore, with a casino on-site, there's plenty to enjoy without even leaving the hotel. From service and location to facilities and value for money, everything was outstanding. Without a doubt, this was the best hotel I've ever stayed at. I definitely want to come back again."

"My family and I recently stayed at Crimson for a night, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. My daughter absolutely loved the place, and the only word she could repeatedly say was, “AMAZING.” The buffet breakfast was outstanding, especially the wide variety of options available for kids. It was thoughtful touches like these that made our stay even more enjoyable. The foam party at the infinity pool was also a big highlight and added so much fun and excitement for the children. What truly made our stay memorable was the hospitality of the staff. Everyone was incredibly accommodating, warm, and approachable throughout our visit. During checkout, a piece of luggage belonging to a guest from Room 619 was accidentally loaded into our car. As soon as we discovered it, we immediately contacted the concierge, and the taxi driver kindly returned it to the hotel right away. Overall, we had a truly wonderful and memorable stay at the resort. Thank you for the excellent service and experience — we would gladly return and highly recommend Crimson to others."

Immersive, One-of-a-Kind Resort Tired of resorts that look just like city hotels in your hometown? Plantation Bay is built like a village, with most rooms directly fronting an extensive private lagoon and artificial beaches. Eye-soothing low-rise architecture. Comfortable, well-appointed, spacious (46 square meters, 490 square feet) rooms with elegant bathrooms (separate tub and shower, large counter area). Romantic King 4-Posters in some rooms, practical two Queens in others. Just 30 minutes to the airport or the center of Cebu City, yet MORE leisure activities than any other resort in the country, possibly the world. Most of the usual marine activities, plus scuba (dive sites just offshore or in 15 minutes by boat), island cruises and picnics, wall-climbing, archery, tennis, pickleball, badminton, Arcade Game Room, Gym, Children’s Boot Camp and daily activities, Botanical Tour, Bird-watching guide, golf (nearby), mall/shopping/gaming (about 20 minutes), whale-shark watching and other excursions (whole day). MORE space per guest than any other resort in the world anywhere near this price range. 11 has. (28 acres) for 255 rooms. Four large freshwater swimming pools and 2.3 has. (6 acres) of saltwater lagoon. No fights over pool loungers, and everyone is always front-line. Yet, unlike any of our competition in Mactan, safe for responsible older children to be left to themselves; our layout explains why. But wait, there’s more! A superb Japanese-inspired Spa, a resort within the Resort. Hot, cold, and saltwater pools, needle-shower, waterfall, sauna, steam-bath, manicure, hair-trim, and full range of therapies. Four distinctive restaurants — Asian-Seafood by the sea, with indoor or under-the-stars dining; elegant Mediterranean-Steak in a stunning Art Nouveau setting; an authentic American Diner; and a fresh-air International coffee shop surrounded by the main swimming pool and the saltwater lagoon. All serve superb dishes, some of which we proudly say are the best of their kind. Come discover how we can claim that. Peace and quiet assured for all. Toward that goal, telephone conversations and audible electronics are strictly prohibited in the gym, Spa, and most dining venues. Parents are enjoined to ensure their children do not bother others with repeated screaming or crying tantrums, which also endangers guest safety as it desensitizes staff, who might therefore fail to respond to a genuine emergency, as happens regularly in many other resorts around the world. Note: Unlike most hotels, Plantation Bay actually enforces its rules and policies. Ill-behaved guests and people addicted to their phones will thus not be happy at Plantation Bay and should book elsewhere. But if you want peace and quiet, a relaxing break from your high-stress life, we’re the resort for you. And, finally, that rarest hotel quality: Honesty and Integrity. If upon arrival you don’t like what you see or experience, say so in 4 hours and YOU’RE OFF THE HOOK. We’ll give you your money back, help you book elsewhere in Metro Cebu, and take you there for free. (Not applicable to special offers explicitly described as non-refundable.) And if you need to cut your stay short for any reason, we’ll refund your balance (peak periods excluded). Hardly any other hotel in the world will do either of these, because they’d rather have your money than your trust. Book now! See you soon!

"I had a pleasant stay at Plantations Resort Mactan and appreciated the peaceful surroundings and overall atmosphere. However, considering the price, I expected a little more in terms of room facilities and value. Some areas felt dated, such as the television, which was an older model and not a smart TV. The room windows also allowed quite a bit of outside light in, which affected the comfort at night. The games room was a nice idea, but having to use tokens for the games felt a little disappointing given the overall cost of the stay. The resort has potential and a lovely setting, but some updates and added value would make the experience feel more in line with the price."

I was very happy with the room type; it had a small balcony with a nice night view. The air conditioning was strong enough. The food at the restaurant was also good. All these points are a plus. However, there were a few minor drawbacks: 1. Renting a lifebuoy at the swimming pool cost 20 pesos for one hour, which I found unreasonable. 2. Every time the toilet in the room's bathroom was flushed, a strong sewer smell came back up. 3. During check-out, the front desk forcibly charged me a tip. I didn't want to give it, but I had to rush to the airport, and my Grab driver had already arrived, so I reluctantly paid it. I didn't bother arguing. I'm giving a fair review, and the minor issues are based on my experience as a first-time guest at the hotel.

The hotel is located on a private island. Getting there isn't too difficult, but all the main attractions (sardines, sharks, canyoneering) are quite a distance away. This hotel seems to have been designed for guests who don't want to leave it – a small 'Bounty island' vibe. But it didn't quite hit the mark. The staff here are constantly smiling. As soon as they see you, they drop what they're doing to greet you. During meals, they approach you every minute to ask questions and tell you about the free 'entertainment' planned for the day. Honestly, it's annoying and doesn't match the status the hotel clearly aims for. In a good hotel, staff are incredibly helpful yet discreet. Here, they can't even clean the room without being noticed. However, you can tell they've been trained this way, rather than it being their natural work style. So, if they were trained differently, these young people would significantly improve the service quality. Also, don't expect quick responses or help from anyone. It's better to go directly to reception and sort things out yourself. That's the most effective way, otherwise, you might drown in a Kafkaesque castle with a British surrealist twist. The room we stayed in was magnificent in terms of size and cleanliness. The shower wasn't working well, but they replaced it quickly. When walking around the room, the wardrobe wobbles and makes noise, but these are minor issues. I noticed signs of wood-boring insects in the safe cabinet, but didn't see the insects themselves, so they didn't cause any trouble. Food. The food here is very poor, compared to all the other places I've visited in the Philippines. A hotel aiming for a high rating shouldn't be serving microwaved store-bought pizza at such a price. If the food is cooked properly (grilled chicken breast, for example), it's invariably oversalted or overspiced. Or both at once. I couldn't find a single dish on the menu that was worth its price or genuinely tasty, except perhaps for the scrambled eggs at breakfast. But that's not enough if you plan to stay on the island all day, is it? Snorkeling costs 1000 pesos per hour for the boat and 100-200 pesos for equipment (each item separate: mask, fins, aqua shoes). The hotel staff claim the equipment is new, but that's not true. Aqua shoes are essentially unavailable in adult sizes (from 40 and up, we found only two old and torn pairs). The coral reef is dying after the typhoon, but there are still beautiful spots, and my wife and I don't regret snorkeling here. Especially since it was the only activity available on the island. To sum up, this hotel might suit those who want to isolate themselves from the rest of the world for a resort-style vacation with an average level of service but rather high prices for that level.

The location next to Ayala Center is excellent, but the hotel facilities were disappointing for a four-star property. The room phone was not working, so I had to go down to the front desk just to request drinking water. The refrigerator barely cooled anything, making it impossible to keep water or food cold in Cebu’s heat. If bottled water is only available on request, at least provide water dispensers on each floor. The amenities were also very limited. Only one toothbrush and one set of cotton buds were provided, despite multiple guests staying in the room. Constantly requesting basic necessities is inconvenient. The location is great, but the facilities and guest convenience need significant improvement.

The hotel's service, facilities, and cleanliness were all top-notch. The only thing that wasn't great was the beach. It was quite small, and more importantly, the sand wasn't really sand – the grains were very large, making it uncomfortable to walk on even with flip-flops. If you go, it's definitely more worthwhile to spend your time at the hotel's infinity pool. The buffet was also good; someone was celebrating a birthday, and it felt very ceremonial, similar to Haidilao in China. Finally, I had originally wanted to try the hotel's Thai restaurant, but at 12 PM, they told us it was closed for the day. Also, the Thai massage on the second floor didn't open on time in the morning 😅

If you can get a direct round-trip flight with China Eastern Airlines, I genuinely recommend trying a vacation in Cebu. My first choice was the Shangri-La Hotel, but they didn't have any rooms available at the time. So, I booked this J Park hotel instead, and I ended up feeling like I made an excellent choice because it's truly perfect for families with kids. I'm talking about slightly older kids, maybe 6 and up, as they have a ton of water activities, similar to hotels like Senbo in China. But what makes it even better is its beachfront location. So, if you want to play in the sand or go snorkeling, they offer free equipment rentals, or you can bring your own. And if you're into swimming pools and water slides, there are plenty of those too. I also highly recommend their suite with a separate living room and bedroom. The price for these suites isn't exorbitant, it's super convenient for a family to stay together, and it even has two bathrooms. It's ideal for families traveling with both elderly relatives and young children. And here's a little tip: in Southeast Asian countries like this, if you can negotiate with the staff, you often won't have to pay an excessive amount for an extra bed. I can't go into too much detail, you know what I mean; check other reviews, and you'll get the gist. The hotel breakfast does get very crowded, so I suggest either going early or waiting until later. The hotel's location is also fantastic, with a supermarket and several restaurants right outside. Plus, taking a taxi around there is very affordable; just download the Grab app. There's a massage parlor called Gold Moon directly across from the hotel. This place is excellent; among all the places I tried, their ambiance was the best. Also, in the shopping area across from the hotel, there's a nail salon that is incredibly cheap. For my daughter and five other girls, getting 'QQ nails' cost only about 50-60 RMB each, so it was super affordable. And you can choose from really pretty designs; my daughter said her designs were intricately done, which you can see in the photos. I'm not sure why durians are so expensive in Southeast Asian countries like this. Everyone says you can eat durian in the Philippines, but I didn't find any good ones. However, you absolutely *can* eat excellent large crabs in the Philippines – like the Singaporean chili crab, made with Sri Lankan mud crabs; they are delicious and very reasonably priced. We tried one place opposite the hotel and also took a taxi to the popular Red Crab, which was trending on Xiaohongshu. Personally, I found Red Crab to be tastier and more professional; they also had a wider selection of crabs. If you try both, you'll understand what I mean. Overall, I really liked Cebu's J Park hotel. It's a high-value, safe place with great service, and I wholeheartedly recommend it for families with kids. I heard they even have a babysitting service for infants. One small complaint though: when I booked, I communicated with Ctrip, and it was agreed that we'd get two hours of park playtime daily, but the hotel later denied it. To my surprise, Ctrip directly compensated me. Ctrip is truly amazing; I'll only use Ctrip for future travels!

This turned out to be an incredible choice for our family; Though it is a refurbished property, the rooms' size is very good. The beach was nice and the most astonishing thing for us was the small rock formation near its beach, which hosted an incredible variety of fish and other forms of life. Just a pair of swimming googles or the snorkeling rental equipment here could get one ready in a matter of minutes from your room. The breakfast spread was good and the 'chocolate hour' in the afternoon was a hit amongst all kids and adults.
