Hotels in Wanda Plaza/Tangdao 637, Xining

This time, I took annual leave and brought my mom to Xining before the National Day holiday. I chose this Sofitel hotel on Trip.com. Three days before check-in, I received a confirmation call from the hotel and added the concierge on WeChat, which felt quite friendly. Upon arrival, due to weather issues, our flight was delayed by about an hour, and it was already past 10 PM. The front desk lady was still fully focused and quickly handled our check-in, also providing some tips about the weather and getting around. The room was quite spacious and even had a humidifier. For some reason, my lips felt very dry during my stay in Xining, but I didn't have that feeling back in Shanghai. The bed was soft yet supportive, and my back felt very comfortable after a night's sleep. The pillows were also suitable, and my neck and shoulders didn't ache. The teabags provided in the room were also very fragrant and not bitter. The toilet paper was thick and reassuring to use. The housekeeping lady even left a handwritten card, which felt very heartwarming. The hotel's second-floor banquet hall often hosts wedding banquets. During my stay in Xining, I stumbled upon several weddings, including Tibetan-style ones. I even encountered a lady in ******* traditional dress in the elevator who enthusiastically invited us to observe, allowing us to experience ******* wedding culture. Overall, the Sofitel truly offered good value, even exceeding expectations.

Pro points - The beds are soft and comfy, good showers with very hot water. Rooms were clean. The buses from outside connect well to the Muslim area of the city and the restaurants nearby are nice. Staff are friendly. Bad points - We booked a non smoking room, all the rooms available were infact non smoking and yet the whole place absolutely stank of cigarettes. We moved rooms because after dinner we came back to a haze of smoke in the room, everyone must be smoking. I live in China, I realise this isn't uncommon, but in that case don't advertise non smoking rooms.

The hotel is ideally located in a business district, well-equipped with facilities, including a free laundry room. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise, a delightful mix of Chinese and Western dishes, featuring exquisite Chinese pastries and authentic Western options. The variety was extensive, and the taste was excellent. The bedding was comfortable. Highly recommended!

My stay was absolutely delightful. The hotel boasts a prime location, and my high-floor room offered a truly fantastic view. The floor-to-ceiling windows provided a breathtaking panoramic city view, allowing me to take in the cityscape during the day and enjoy the captivating ambiance of the city lights at night. The room was immaculately clean, and the bedding was soft and comfortable. I particularly appreciated the humidifier, which was a thoughtful touch given Xining's dry climate. The front desk staff were warm and professional, and with the Wanda commercial area right downstairs, dining and shopping were incredibly convenient. This hotel is perfect for both leisure and business travelers. I'll definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Xining.

Staying at the Qaidam International Hotel in Xining was such a breeze! The room was clean and even had a humidifier, which is perfect for the high-altitude climate. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The front desk staff were enthusiastic and efficient, and the soundproofing was excellent. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm here.

The hotel opened this year. The room is large and the decoration is very high-end, which meets my aesthetic taste. The whole house is smart, the lights and curtains can be voice-controlled, there is also a smart toilet, the projection image quality is very clear, and we also watched a movie at night. The bed is very clean and soft, and there are washing machines, refrigerators, and induction cookers. The hotel is only a few minutes' walk from Wanda. There are also many delicious foods around the hotel, which is very convenient for eating and shopping. Maybe because of the altitude, the bath water is a little small, and the full-body mirror at the door of the bathroom is a funhouse mirror, which makes me happy. Everything else is great! It's a pity that we have to rush the schedule, otherwise we will definitely stay a few more nights.

The hotel is clean, location is great to the nearby supermarket, shopping malls and the wildlife park. Many restaurants around. It would be great if there's dryer attached with washing machine. Breakfast is great, blended with both western and Chinese selections. I came back to stay with Sebel after my previous stay because of the friendly and informative stuffs who have helped me with the luggages and check in. However, why I rated the service with lower point because after I came back to stay for 2 consecutive nights, we have encountered different stuffs that gave totally opposite vibes, which were arrogant and no greetings, no smile.

Let's start with the positives: 1. The hotel is a convenient 10-minute walk to Wanda Plaza. The breakfast variety and taste are both excellent. They have everything from mini wontons, noodles, bread, cakes, yogurt, stir-fries, congee, cereal, and juices (of course, it can't compare to a five-star hotel, but it's very good for a hotel of its caliber). 2. The hotel offers a self-service laundry room with complimentary washers and dryers. There are even sticky notes and magnets next to them, so you can write your room number on a note and attach it. If you can't pick up your laundry promptly, the staff can retrieve it, put it into a laundry bag, and deliver it to your room. This is absolutely fantastic! Now for the downsides: 1. The room I booked was advertised as having a smart toilet, but the bidet function didn't work; the water sprayed downwards instead of upwards. 2. The mini-fridge in the room was very noisy, clearly old and due for replacement. Plus, it was unplugged, and I had to pull it out to plug it in (I'm guessing the previous guest unplugged it because of the noise, but it should have been plugged back in during room cleaning, otherwise the next guest can't get cold drinks). Finally, a positive note on the service: I left in a hurry and forgot my charger in the room. After I called, the staff immediately verified they found it and promptly couriered it to the specified address. The response time was very quick! I have to give them high praise for the service.

Traveling to Xining for the Qinghai-Gansu Grand Loop, our twin room at Atour S Hotel SDIC Plaza Haihu New District Xining far exceeded our expectations. The room was spacious and bright, with two generously sized beds and soft, clean bedding. The humidifier, essential for high-altitude travel, was provided. The bathroom was separated into wet and dry areas, and the toiletries were of good quality. The front desk service was efficient and thoughtful, and the self-service laundry room was very practical for long-distance road trippers. The soundproofing was excellent, allowing us to rest well after a tiring day.

I don't want to go out for a long time on rainy days. The hotel's internal facilities are perfect, and the gym and self-service laundry room can be used. The room lighting is not affected by the weather, and the electric curtains in the whole house freely adjust the light. The bathroom is separated from wet and dry, and the ground is kept dry, so don't worry about slipping. The surrounding leisure shops are dense, short-distance for food and leisure on rainy days, no long-distance travel, the staff is patient, and the rainy day stays still feel a good experience.
