Wugong Teach Jia Terrace in Shaanxi

Teach Jia Terrace is the first of the four famous terraces in Guanzhong and one of the eight famous terraces in China. It is said that this is where Hou Ji, the ancestor of agriculture, taught the people to farm. The so-called Teach Jia Terrace, as the name suggests, is the lecture platform of agricultural culture. The grain god Hou Ji was the first teacher of agriculture in Chinese history, and this place became the first agricultural college in China. People regard food as the sky, and food must talk about farming. Worship the ancestors and sages of agricultural culture, Hou Ji, and pray for good weather and a good harvest. More than 4,000 years ago, the Tai clan lived in Wugong County, and Qi was born here. Under the influence of his mother, he devoted himself to studying agricultural technology and pioneered agricultural culture with unparalleled courage and wisdom. He was promoted by Emperor Yao as a farmer, planted five grains, taught people to farm, and ended the hunting life of human beings. His vivid deeds are detailed in the 'Shan Hai Jing', 'Shi Jing', and 'Historical Records'. The agricultural civilization he advocated quickly made his descendants-the Zhou people strong and created the Zhou Dynasty that ruled China for more than 800 years. His achievements cover the world, his name is spread all over China, and people respect him as 'Hou Ji'. 'Hou' means monarch, and 'Ji' is the leader of the five grains. The emperor worships the grain god. The Teach Jia Terrace was originally a rectangular earth-brick platform, with a large bottom and a small top, in the shape of an inverted bucket, with a hole in the middle, which is a necessary road for pedestrians and vehicles. There is a stone carving about 1 meter wide and 2 meters long on the east entrance of the cave, which reads: 'Teach Jia Ming District'. The upper part is 'Repaired in January of the fifth year of Daoguang (1825)', and the lower part is 'Deng Zhaotong, who knows Wugong County, stands', and the west entrance is 'Teach Jia Terrace'.
