Park Head Hotel

Absolutely spotless and finished to a high standard. Decor is modern and appealing throughout. Staff are helpful. Lovely restaurant and fantastic coffee served there. The only slight issue I would say, is that you can hear guests in the next room very easily and this isn’t desirable for obvious reasons. We sadly ended up with very noisy guests in the room next to us the first night we stayed and this caused considerable disruption to our sleep pretty much all night. Saying this, we didn’t notify the staff though (so they may have been able to help) as there was no phone in the room. The next night was fine and completely silent so this would be dependent on who you have staying near you.
Parkmore Hotel & Leisure Club, Sure Hotel Collection by BW

The hotel staff I spoke to were great, room was ok - comfy beds, I actually slept all night once I was able to get off. The walls are paper thin though and I could hear the full conversation of our neighbours - this went on quite late for us. Spa is fab - when it’s all in working order, this is the first time we’ve visited when the hydro pool has been working - so you might want to check this if you’re planning to visit. The sauna had been switched off and unfortunately we weren’t in the spa long enough for it to heat back up, but we enjoyed the pool & jacuzzi. The food at the birdcage restaurant is delicious but the service lets it down - slow & sloppy! We had to get the attention of 3 staff members who had been stood in the kitchen talking for 5 minutes, just to pay our bill, as nobody was on the floor. They also have no communication - I paid to get £50 food allowance and the food was still on my bill - had I not checked I would have been out of pocket but the staff should know we have this as we booked through our room number. Its a real shame the place has these let downs because despite all of that I do actually enjoy coming here, but soon I think the bad may outweigh the good and make us venture elsewhere.
Hampton by Hilton Stockton on Tees

We booked bed/ breakfast for 2 nights. It was a buffet breakfast everything was on cereal fruit juice and hot food if you wanted anything extra the staff were only too willing to get it for you. Lovely room big fluffy towels in the bathroom and complimentary toiletries. The hotel is only 3 year old very modern and clean. I would stay in in again for my next trip. Marlene Glasgow
The Stockton Arms Hotel
4.2/515 Reviews
In the area for business and stayed at the Stockton arms for just one night. Room was very well presented and in great location for the local area. Great local park to walk after a days work in a nice area outside of the main town. The Stockton arms itself has a large bar with all sports channels available but is far from a sports pub with a smart/casual dress code making it a good spot to relax and enjoy a night. For food go around the corner to the Masham the sister pub, the food and service is excellent
The Kingslodge Inn - the Inn Collection Group

This is a great place to stay! The staff are very kind and helpful, the rooms are wonderful - lots of power points in useful places! - and the location is lovely, close to the railway station, a short walk into the centre and some beautiful riverside walks. I’ll definitely be back.
Bannatyne Hotel Durham

This is a great value hotel. You pop across the car to spend what you want on breakfast in the health club. Ok some complained £2 for 2 Weatabix steep but you can have avocado and poached egg on toast very reasonable. The rooms are fine, nothing wrong with any that we had, premium or standard. All clean. The service was great, friendly and helpful. Having to keep having the key cards reprogrammed is a pain but we just did it every time we came in. Location is a bit out but that makes it quiet and there is a Sainsbury’s, pharmacy and Copland just 10 mins walk away.
Bowburn Hall Hotel
4.2/578 Reviews
This is the second time we've stayed at the bowburn hall hotel. Our first visit was lovely in a large room with a stand alone bath. This time though we were disappointed. We booked for 3 couples in 3 seperate rooms. Our room ( number 10) was unbelievably tiny, certainly not what was shown on the pictures when we booked it. At £116 for the night id expect much better facilities. You could barely get around the bed, there was no dressing table and only 1 accessible double plug at the bottom of the bed. The other 2 were covered by bedside tables. The bathroom door was only 70% frosted so you could see if anybody was using the toilet. The mirror was on the inside of the single wardrobe meaning my wife had to sit on the floor to do her makeup in the mirror. The bathroom was absolutely tiny and I could pull the plug out of the sink and bath at the same time as using the toilet. We were quite disappointed as my wife had organised the whole night so we could get together with some friends. One other couple stayed in the room next door to us which was only slightly better while another couple we were with were upgraded to a large room free of charge. We all ended up in the bigger room to have a few drinks as 2 people were too much in our room. Staff were polite and the breakfast was nice but I don't think we will be returning purely down to how small of a room they gave us.
The Douglas Hotel

I have to say that this place is very accommodating, clean and has great food . Having read some of the previous bad reviews I gave it a chance and was pleased with the stay. I would hazard a guess that some of the horrible reviews are fake due to a certain Blackpool hotelier. If I’m correct this is an extremely nasty thing to do by trying to sabotage a business. Give this place a try is all I can say. Based on my unbiased reviews.
Rooms at the Boot and Shoe
4.3/510 Reviews
Gone are the magnolia walls and tired furniture and the rooms are now spectacular. --- newly decorated and refurnished with modern furniture. A staircase leads up to the rooms( this has also been highly decorated and a beautiful thick grey carpet. Stayed in what's now called the ”Green”room. You can instantly tell that the landlord Chris and his wife Sue have worked really hard getting this room ready. It's spectacular. A plush green velvet bed with beautiful bedding very comfortable mattress. There's a large seating area complete with matching green velvet armchairs-- white coffee table that matches the 2 very large storage units to complete that area there's a beautiful fireplace. One the wall is a large smart tv with Netflix included -- free Wi-Fi available. Tea coffee facilities plus a Tassimo coffee machine. Hairdryer provided -- only problem I noticed was there was no mirror in bedroom area so you can see what you're doing when wanting to use hairdryer or put makeup on. Have mentioned this to Chris and he's going to rectify that issue. The bathroom area has also been gutted out -- it's now a beautiful spacious room--complete with electric shower which is very easy to use. Loads of fluffy towels and shower gel/ shampoo and conditioner all provided. Some of the rooms have yet to be completed, but they too are going to be the same high standard. Next time you fancy staying over in Darlington, call in and see Chris or Sue about one of their rooms --- you will not be disappointed -- very high standard and worth the money
