First time in Shanghai, and this hostel is conveniently located in a building with easy elevator access. I stayed in a four-person dorm. The room was a bit small, but the natural light was decent, and having an en-suite bathroom was a huge plus. My main gripe is getting into the top bunk; the ladder design makes it quite difficult to climb, you really need to brace yourself to get up there. The front desk service was good. What I really loved was meeting people from all over China and even other countries, and the hostel hosted various activities. It really fit my impression of Shanghai as a diverse and inclusive city.

The location is ideal, located near Nanjing Road, Bai Mi Xiang Xie. Around the hotel itself has many local food stalls and restaurants. The room is ok with basic amenities and quite spacious (I have opened 4 baggages and still have room to walk around. The reêcptionist helped me many times to reêcive my taobao oorder! The only thing is that the room is located in like a 2.5 floor so I have to take elevator then go downstair a bit. Some of the hall’s ceiling was quite old that I can see through the ceilling lol. The toilet door was a bit musty and not very soundproofx. That’s all!

The hotel offers good value for money. It's quite close to Pudong Airport, and there's a shuttle bus that runs once an hour. You can book the airport transfer at the front desk when you check in. The pick-up point is about a five to six-minute walk from the hotel. The front desk staff were friendly, and overall, it was a pretty good stay.

I stay at this hotel and it was great for a solo traveler. I had space enough to open my luggage in the room and still move around. The bed was comfortable and the linens clean. The hallways of the building and hotel floors, as there is also a shipping company on the second floor of the building where the laundry room is, are a bit worse for wear but the hotel room I stayed in itself was great. It looked just like the photos online so there wasnt a gotcha moment when opening the door. The staff brought clean towels each day and turned down the bed. The building exterior is a bit hidden, but it is less than five mins from the nearest escalator to the train station and the elevator to the station itself is right around the corner to the station. I would book here again.

The hotel is conveniently located between the old and new parts of the city, making it easy to find places to eat, stroll around, and shop. The service is excellent; the staff are proactive and helpful. The cleanliness is also top-notch. I noticed many international guests staying here too.

One of the first reasons for selecting this hostel was the location and price alone! It is located in a very central part of Shanghai. It’s a busy street but located in walking distance of trains, many local restaurants and a short DiDi ride to main attractions.
The service is great! Quick, easy and efficient check-in process. The desk staff were great in communicating expectations and the area to lead me.
The bathroom areas are clean, showers within the areas. Blow dryers and sink amenities are present.
I enjoyed my nights rest due to the comfort of the bed and linens provided.

I chose Dunba Hostel for my business trip to Shanghai, and its location is fantastic. You can walk to the Bund, and public transport is very convenient. The 8-bed male dorm with an en-suite bathroom was a huge plus. The beds were clean and tidy, and the facilities were new and practical. The service was also very thoughtful. Overall, the experience far exceeded my expectations, and it offers great value for money. I highly recommend it to anyone coming to Shanghai for business.

This is the best hostel I've ever stayed in!!
First, the location. It's right by the bar street, which is super convenient for going out and finding food, and you don't have to deal with the high prices of the city center. Great value for money.
Next, the service. The two ladies at the front desk had an amazing attitude. They greeted me with smiles, patiently answered my questions, and even helped me get my favorite room. On my last day, I wanted to rest a bit longer at noon, and one of them gave me a late check-out for free... I was so touched!
Then, and most importantly, the environment. Everywhere smelled lovely, and the facilities were comprehensive. The bedding was new and clean, and there were individual shower stalls fully stocked with various toiletries. They even thoughtfully provided hair ties for women, which really shows incredible attention to detail. It felt just like staying at home.
Everything about this place shows how much effort they put into running it. It's truly a rare gem. I never write reviews, but my experience was so good that I had to. This week in Shanghai was absolutely wonderful.
I actually had other plans to move to a different place, but it was so comfortable here that I couldn't bear to leave, so I extended my stay for two more nights, haha! Seriously, you have to stay at this hotel; it's one of the best in the entire country!

The front desk staff, Guoguo, had an excellent service attitude. I originally didn't book a continuous stay, but the hotel arranged for me to have one, which was great. This hostel's main advantage is its location; it's close to important places like People's Square and Mercedes-Benz Arena, and Line 10 goes directly to Hongqiao Railway Station. The facilities are standard hostel quality, but the wall sockets are quite loose, so be careful if your charger is heavy. On my last day, I was in a hurry and only came back around 10:40 PM to pick up my stored luggage before taking a late-night high-speed train out of Shanghai during the May Day holiday. I wonder when I'll be back next.

The large bay window offered a beautiful view of Shanghai, despite the ongoing construction next door.
The accommodation was top-notch! There were facilities to wash and iron clothes, and the air conditioning/heating worked perfectly (which was very useful since the bay window made the place feel like a sieve).
I would gladly return 😊
The staff were also very helpful, even though they didn't speak English.
It's at least a 10-15 minute walk to the metro or the Bund.

EElianaCThis review is long overdue! I was in Shanghai for a business trip in early March, and it happened to be raining heavily then. The underfloor heating gave me the warmest, most comfortable night's sleep, and the duvet cover felt incredibly soft. It was my first time staying in a Shikumen building, and the courtyard was so unique and stylish. Both the courtyard and the room's interior design were absolutely beautiful. The unit I stayed in was located on West Yan'an Road, very close to Xintiandi and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. It was perfect – I could just stroll back after dinner in Bei Li. Check-in was also a breeze. I saw that the host manages several other unique B&Bs, so I'd love to try them out sometime!

GGuest UserStaying here when seeing a show at the Culture Square was really convenient. The single room offered great privacy, and everything was spotless. It felt like the bathroom was cleaned regularly by the staff. The best part was the shower in the single room had a wet/dry separation, so I could just put my clothes on a stool without needing a bag. There was even a glasses holder on the bed, which was a nice touch for someone with poor eyesight. The only downside was the constant construction noise in the afternoon, which was very disruptive.

GGuest UserThis Airbnb experience truly exceeded my expectations, and I have to rave about it! The space is incredibly spacious, with an open and airy living room. The light wood floors paired with clean white walls create a minimalist yet soothing aesthetic, making it feel anything but cramped – it was incredibly comfortable. The soft furnishings are very high quality; the vintage olive green sofa is both cozy and chic, and the accompanying small chairs and low stools really enhance the ambiance. It’s perfect whether you're lounging on the sofa watching a show, or working/socializing at the dining table. Plus, it's very photogenic! The indoor lighting, both natural and artificial, is excellent. The warm pendant lights combined with soft downlights create a wonderful atmosphere in the evening, with no feeling of being cooped up. All the amenities you could need are provided, and you can tell the host put a lot of thought into the details. The location is also super convenient for getting around and finding food. Overall, it's clean, tidy, and the stay was fantastic – excellent value for money. This place is perfect for a visit to Shanghai and has definitely been added to my list of Shanghai accommodation gems!
AAnxious but kindGreat stay! Very convenient location, affordable price. We are hopping around China, and choosing affordable hotels for the night's rest with convenient locations. Only one thing that can bother sensitive sleepers: the railway right next to the hotel. But as a sensitive sleeper, I found comfort in that slow train sound. Very helpful personnel, clean, nice, spacious rooms. 🫶🏼
AAllenlaoA007This hotel, which I found directly on Ctrip, is absolutely the best value for money in the city center. The room was very large and clean, and the front desk service was excellent. It's super close to the subway station, just about a 5-minute walk. There are tons of snack places around the hotel, and lots of interesting spots to visit. It's very convenient and close to Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and The Bund, and there's also a natural history museum nearby. The guest rooms are equipped with latex mattresses, smart toilets, and there are two types of pillows on the bed – latex and down – both very comfortable. The central air conditioning is also very convenient. This hotel offers incredible value for its city center location. I'll definitely be back next time.
Yyj6549Aside from the location, which is decent and close to the Pedestrian Street and the Bund, the room was too small to put anything down. The price was quite high, and there was no restaurant. The food was like a delivery service; there were no chopsticks or spoons, and no real dishes, yet it wasn't cheap. If you plan to stay here, definitely skip the breakfast. The service was okay, but the soundproofing was terrible. Noise from upstairs, downstairs, and neighbors on all sides was constant throughout the night, seriously disrupting my sleep.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel's location is fantastic! It's only a 700-meter walk to the visa office and just 300 meters to [another location, if specified, otherwise omit or generalize]. There are tons of great food options downstairs, including hot pot restaurants and even a Haidilao, plus you can get discounts. The room also has a smart voice-controlled assistant.

GGuest UserThis hotel exceeded my expectations! The decor, ambiance, and service are far superior to other hotels in the same price range – incredible value for money! The location is also fantastic, with convenient transportation and plenty of dining options nearby, plus it feels very safe. It's also super close to Disneyland. Highly recommend staying here; I'll definitely choose it again next time!
