5-Star Hotels in Arequipa, Peru

"We found our stay Costa del Sol Arequipa extremely comfortable, enjoyable and absolutely charming. We felt like we were staying in a palatial mansion with high ceilings, chandeliers, and artefacts housed in a sprawling estate. It was located an easy 10-15mins walk up town from Plaza de Armas in a quiet spot surrounded by parks and greenery - we walked everywhere and found it more convenient than taking a car due to major roadworks around the city centre. The breakfast spread was excellent and generally tasty and the service was also good - attentive throughout and the front desk also helped arrange our taxi to the airport in the early morning. The room was also very clean and well maintained except for a design flaw with the shower screen that somehow causes water to leak onto the floor outside. However, our biggest highlight was meeting Juanita, the 140 year old Galapagos Giant Tortoise gifted to the then Peruvian president in 1947, who was still roaming the grounds like a stately mascot and the majestic alpacas at the back of the property. We highly reccomend this hotel which turned out to be a massive treat for our sabbatical holiday!!"
