"The triple room was a bit cramped, but with some clever rearranging, it worked out great. The bathroom's odor extraction and dehumidifying features were surprisingly powerful, and I have no idea how they managed it since there's no visible switch or noise. Every day, I'd head to the second-floor hot spring bath; it was so relaxing and never crowded. Just remember to bring your room key to scan for entry. The hotel is conveniently located directly across from Hokkaido University, offering beautiful and pleasant views. We even found a university supermarket next to the campus cafeteria with delightful prices for souvenirs and food, where I snagged some limited-edition Sapporo Agricultural College egg tarts! The hotel's surroundings offer excellent transportation links; it's less than a ten-minute walk to the JR station's North Exit and Daimaru Department Store."

"This was our second stay at this hotel, and overall everything was very good. However, I would appreciate if the management could be a little more flexible regarding check-in timing and parking charges.
We arrived at around 2:15pm, which was only about 45 minutes before the official check-in time of 3pm. We completely understood if the room was not yet ready and were perfectly happy to wait. We only asked whether we could park our car at the hotel car park first.
Unfortunately, the front desk lady was quite unhelpful and insisted that if we parked before 3pm, we would need to pay the 24-hour parking rate of 1800 yen instead of the standard 1500 yen rate (3pm to 11am the next day). We even explained that we would be checking out before 9am the next morning.
Since she was very firm on this, we decided to simply wait at the lobby instead.
Interestingly, around 2:40pm, we noticed some Japanese guests arriving and checking in. Shortly after that, another very kind staff member approached us and informed us that our room was already ready and that we could proceed to check in and park our car.
I genuinely try not to view situations through the lens of unfair treatment, but I do hope the management could sometimes exercise a little flexibility and discretion on a case-by-case basis, especially when guests are arriving only slightly earlier than the official check-in time."

"Very nice and comfortable hotel. After a long flight, we were happy to say we had a very very good sleep. We only woke up at 5.14am thinking we overslept but Hokkaido summer is here and sunrise is around 4am!
We love the Onsen and its cleanliness. The staff were helpful and attentive. They sent us extra pillows very quickly.
This hotel is about 10-15 minutes walk from the JR station. Use the north exit - you'll only see the North Exit sign when you exit either East or West ticket gates. We had to find the sign and even the staff gave us the wrong information!"

"The room was quite spacious, but the windows couldn't be opened. It's about 700 meters from the subway station, which is neither too close nor too far. It's worth noting that the nearest convenience store is about a kilometer away. The window view was beautiful, overlooking Nakajima Park."

"The biggest advantage of this hotel is its location. It's very close to Sapporo Station, just a three to five-minute walk, which makes going out for food and shopping incredibly convenient. I guess because of Sapporo's weather, you can access many places underground. Once you get familiar with it, you'll find yourself using the underground passages for all your shopping and dining needs. On the day we left, there was a blizzard, and being so close to Sapporo Station was a huge help; otherwise, we definitely would have missed our flight. The cleanliness was good, and the onsen (hot spring bath) area was also clean. Overall, it was very convenient and comfortable."

"Overall an enjoyable stay.
⭐ Right opposite Odori Park/Sapporo TV Tower and walking distance (10-15 mins) to both Sapporo Station and Susukino.
⭐ There's a few breakfast/coffee place nearby and Donguri Bakery is just right beside.
⭐ Very convenient as some day tour pick-up and drop off point is 5 mins away.
⭐ They provide vouchers for days when no room service/cleaning is required.
⭐ Room is quiet, bed is comfortable and 2 types of pillow are provided.
❗Doesn't have TV in the room as the living style there is more like to chill at the lounge/bar and listen to vinly record (there's a machine in the room).
❗Breakfast selection is limited.
❗They do strict 3PM check-in but got luggage storage service."

Great
LLiduoxiliaolinuolisiI'd call this unbeatable. First off, the front desk service was truly above and beyond my expectations. It was snowing heavily, and the bellhop was still waiting outside for guests to arrive, helping with luggage. The outdoor private onsen in the room was also exceptional; the view and atmosphere were incredible. The breakfast, with its unbeatable ocean view, topped it all off. I had a wonderful day in Hakodate!
GGuest UserLoved that the hotel allows guests with tattoo to use the onsen though this wasn’t made known explicitly with written signs. Hotel was located at the end of Tanukoji so it’s a distance from the main area although still walkable.
Note that the bathroom doesn’t have a space to put your dry clothes and you will have to wear it outside unless you do not mind the bottom of your pants getting wet. Not very convenient for mix gender groups even though there’s a blind you can draw but still be visible from the mirror reflection. Room was located in the annex building which has alot of stairs so not that convenient for elderlies too. Overall, decent hotel but recommended only if you have no issues walking or are driving.
SSuet Sum LaiI booked the hotel a few months ago so I could get a very good price for staying with OMO5. Very comfortable and energetic hotel, especially the common area was a place for relaxing and chill. They have a different set up during the day and at night. The highlight of this hotel is the free shuttle bus services, going around the city, and the paid shuttle service to go up the hill to see the sunset. You would be knowing how chaotic it could be up there so it’s good to have a shuttle bus bringing you up and down back to the hotel door. Also, the hotel offer free tours and I joined the free market walking tour and a bus tour to Onuma National Park. By staying one night, I could use the services before the check in and after the check out, so basically it covered 2 days activities when I was in Hakodate. it’s a super value offer, and I really feel this hotel group has thoughts from traveler’s perspective and try their best to give the best experience and to help reducing hassles for us. Definitely I will book with hotels under Hoshino Resort Group again. Thank you very much.
GGuest UserI absolutely love Hanabishi Hotel — I had the best 2-night stay here. The hotel is quiet with no large tour groups, and I really enjoyed the traditional feel and relaxing vibes. I tried all of their room types, and my favorite is the futon room with a private onsen. The futon is very comfortable, and the room itself is incredibly spacious.
The staff are friendly and helpful, even assisting me with arranging taxi service. The location is convenient, only about a 10-minute drive from Hakodate Airport. I also loved both the breakfast buffet and the dinner set — they truly pampered me like I was the queen of the world.
The public onsen is beautiful and huge. I will forever choose to stay here whenever I’m in the area.
GGuest UserAbsolutely beautiful and distinctly Japanese. It's understated yet profound. You can just pull back the curtains and behold the Sea of Okhotsk, watching the drift ice float by as large snowflakes fall. Chatting aimlessly with friends here, I suddenly felt life had gained a richer, more fulfilling meaning. The staff were professional, and they even stored our luggage in advance so we could hike the Five Lakes. This will definitely be my top choice if I ever visit Eastern Hokkaido again!
HHuichangmeilidejutu12138This was the best hotel of our trip. From check-in to check-out, we felt the warmth and saw the smiles of the staff throughout. The included dinner was delicious and exquisite. The set breakfast was also pretty good. The hotel offers a variety of entertainment activities and facilities, so you won't get bored at all, and the environment is beautiful. The only downside is that the soundproofing isn't great; you can hear doors opening and closing from upstairs and next door.
GGuest UserBoth the public areas and the room were impeccably clean, making for a very pleasant stay. The lobby and areas in front of the elevators had a subtle, comforting scent, creating a truly comfortable atmosphere.
Having a convenience store and a drug store right across the street was incredibly handy.
The staff were all very attentive and polite, which was much appreciated. This is definitely a hotel I'd want to stay at again.
AAnonymous UserThis was my second onsen hotel stay in Jigokudani, and compared to others, this one had fewer guests and rooms, truly embodying the essence of a hot spring resort. The room was spacious and felt very boutique. The private onsen was a sulfur spring, and the public bathhouse offered other types of springs. The dinner kaiseki was a bit average; the ingredients and cooking were decent, but the service felt like a fast-food restaurant. Breakfast was slightly better.
CchanmalaysiaLocation of hotel is quite good. Need to walk 15 minutes from Hakodate Station.
Hotel breakfast provided in Japanese restaurant is fantastically good. Rich variety of local Japanese food.
Service provided by hotel was bad n needed to be improved:
(1) Check in to hotel is strictly starts at 3pm, which is vy late. Most Japan hotel checks in at 2pm n allows earlier check in. Customers needed to wait n queue up in long line to check in. Hotel is not flexible n has no alternative plans to open up check in earlier even though long queues of people are waiting for 3pm. Long queue is blocking the hotel lobby reception too. Worst is that there are a few staffs sitting at reception counter not doing anything to accommodate to crowded waiting at counter. Vy poor service provided by hotel front office reception.
(2) Same thing as waiting in long queue for daily breakfast. Waiting time is too long. Will need the staff to take one by one customer to respective table. There's only one staff taking charge. Will need to upgrade the service by adding one or two more staff to be on duty at the counter.
