4-Star Hotels in Nara Prefecture, Japan

Our first Onyado Nono experience and we are already looking forward to future stays. Wasn't expecting much for city hotel onsen but surprised it even had a good size outdoor option + sauna& cold pool. . The breakfast buffet was amazing, got to try lots of local dishes. Parking at hotel was abit pricy. 1500 ¥ per day but it does allow unlimited in and out. You can probably find cheaper options around the hotel if willing to walk. We just parked for 2 days and walked around the shopping district + Nara Park (25mins). Lots of food options nearby.

To experience a Japanese tatami room, I chose Asuka-so. The hotel is small, very much like the guesthouses on Mount Putuo, surrounded by similar small but exquisite inns. Check-in was at 3 PM, and we arrived early. We couldn't get into our room, but the front desk kindly stored our luggage. After feeding the deer, we returned to find that the staff had already taken our luggage to our room. Another pleasant surprise was that while we were wondering how to lay out the futons, we returned from dinner to find the tatami already made up! 😊 We slept very comfortably. There's also a public bath at the inn, and our room had a Japanese-style bathroom. We were given Japanese yukata upon check-in. Even though we only stayed one night, it was a deep and interesting experience of a Japanese ryokan. There's a free bar at the hotel front desk offering coffee, tea, and complimentary ice cream, open until 9 PM. Right across from the inn is a convenience store where you can buy deer crackers. There are deer everywhere nearby, so there's no need to go specifically to Nara Park if you just want to feed them; you can do so right around the inn.

The hotel's location is great, just a 2-minute walk from the subway station. Check-in is handled by robots, and you can store your luggage in the lobby on the first floor. Renting manga books is also a unique Japanese touch. The room was quite spacious, and the soundproofing was good. The bathroom wasn't huge but was clean. Overall, it's pretty good.

I genuinely can't recommend this hotel enough. Its location is superb, just a 5-minute walk from Kintetsu Nara Station. The lobby is quite grand, and the rooms are surprisingly spacious, especially by Japanese standards. Despite arriving past 1 AM that day, the friendly gentleman at the front desk was incredibly welcoming and patiently explained all of the hotel's facilities and services. The self-service amenity station downstairs, offering tea bags, toiletries, and even skincare products, was a fantastic and very convenient feature.

This is one of my favorite hotels. It boasts a stylish design and is directly accessible from the JR line. Despite its proximity to the station, the soundproofing is superb. A bus stop for Nara Park is conveniently located right downstairs. The breakfast spread was excellent; I particularly recommend the cold noodles for their delightful chewiness. I've generally found hotel breakfasts in Japan to be quite generous. The last photo shows a nearby restaurant called Yayoiken, where I enjoyed a salmon set meal.

The room was spacious and spotlessly clean, including the bedding. While the room was well-equipped, some facilities felt a bit dated. However, both the interior and exterior of the building exuded an aristocratic grandeur. The front desk staff were incredibly polite, professional, and went above and beyond to help guests with any issues. The hot spring had specific operating hours, and unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to experience it, which was a slight disappointment.

Stepping into the hotel lobby, you're immediately greeted by the distinct aroma of the hot spring baths. We booked a standard room, which was a bit small. If you're traveling with children, I'd recommend a suite for more space. The hotel is super close to Nara Station, just a quick left turn when you exit. The hot spring baths cost extra, but it's not expensive and they're open until midnight. A really thoughtful touch is that the TV in the room shows how busy the baths are. Overall, I'm very satisfied. Japanese hotels are always incredibly clean; you really can't find anything to complain about. I forgot to take pictures of the room, but I did snap a few of the TV, haha. P2 is a specialty product I bought from a persimmon shop in Nara.

I chose to stay in the Japanese room of Kasuga Hotel again, which says it all. Convenient transportation, complete facilities, hot spring bath, coffee shop in the lobby on the first floor, 24-hour free coffee, drinks, small refreshments, etc., Japanese breakfast and dinner are very rich, 10 minutes walk from Todaiji Kasuga Taisha, 3 minutes walk from Kintetsu Nara Station, and there are restaurants, snack bars, sushi restaurants, supermarkets, etc. on the commercial street next to it. Highly recommended.

Accompanying my old mother on a trip, in order to avoid the old woman being tired during the journey, I chose to stay at the Machi Tenpei Hotel, which is a 5-minute walk from Kintetsu Nara Station, for one night. The hotel is located at the intersection of the commercial street and the scenic area in Nara Scenic Area. The beautiful view of Sarusawa Lake is outside the window. There is a Starbucks downstairs and Kofuku-ji Temple is opposite. In the morning, I went to Kasuga Taisha and Nara Park, and took a rest in the hotel in the afternoon. There is a public bath in the basement. There are six kinds of shampoo to choose from. The honey one in the hexagonal bottle is more suitable for my hair quality, and there is also pola. The hotel provides disposable socks and hair bands, which are of good quality. The raised tatami in the room can not only experience Japanese-style accommodation, but also facilitate various groups of people. There is a small balcony outside the room where you can dry clothes. At around 6 o'clock in the evening, many businesses in the block got off work and it was very quiet.

1. There is nothing to complain about. The location, food, room condition, amenities, interior, etc. were all perfect. 2. The staff were especially friendly. 3. The pond view room faces west, so if you don't open the blinds, it can get hot in the summer because of the sunlight. 4. Due to hotel circumstances, luggage storage was only available until 12 o'clock on the day of check-out, but I wish they had posted this in advance on the website.
