Choosing a room with direct access to the lake was a good choice, and the in-house restaurants, including Fiji, were good. There were a lot of mosquitoes, so it was difficult to use the hammock and villa in front of the hotel.
Hotel Muaré

La Veleta
Hotel Muare is one of the more popular hotels in the Tulum area. It is a perfect getaway if you want to have a quiet time from the hustle-and-bustle of the city to recharge. The rooms are designed to look like houses in the remote places but with all the modern amenities. It also is a great option for someone who cares about staying at an Instagrammable hotel/resort. There is one restaurant which provides good food. Negatives: -Getting to the hotel will require you to drive through really broken dirt road with several pits. -While the food options are good, if you’re someone with a dietary restrictions - e.g., vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, don’t eat red meat or raw fish, etc. you may run out of options quickly. The staff is flexible though, so they may customize few dishes for your suiting. -In general Tulum is expensive. However, Muare is up a notch. While it was a great place to stay, the price didn’t seem justifiable to me. Specially, since I don’t care as much about capturing Instagrammable photos. -While the staffs are helpful and friendly, their extreme focus on getting money out of you is just off putting. Examples: we planned to have food by the pool and it took them forever to get us the food. They missed certain items in the order. We also had issues with our food (fly in maple syrup) which was still fine (since bugs/insects can fall in your food when you live in the nature). However, when we reported and asked for a replacement, they never returned with the fresh maple syrup. Finally, I had to go to the restaurant and pick it up myself. However, when it came to asking you to pay, they would run behind you to get your sign. On top of that, there is a default tip amount included in the bill which some of them may not even care to mention to you. While checking out as well, they added a hefty service charge to the bill - this on top of the already expensive booking fee. Overall, my review is that it is a good place to stay. However, too expensive and the cost is not really justifiable. Plus for the good service they provide, it is really off putting when you see how focused they’re on getting more money out of you in any way possible.

My favorite hotel! I also held my wedding here The hotel is beautiful, and there are two museums that are also beautiful in the same style. If you also like the original ecology, don’t hesitate to order directly The scenery is incomparably beautiful, be sure to choose a sea view room This is a hotel you must visit in your life!

It was really nice hotel. But we went with cheaper rate, so the room doesn't have ocean view, facing the road. you could hear the cars/buses running over night. Otherwise, very good economical hotel. Try to avoid the road facing road.
Kore Tulum Retreat and Spa Resort - Adults Only

Playa Paraiso
I started out in my younger days staying at 3 star hotels working myself up to 5 star hotels these days. On this recent weekend trip i held back on my post xmas spending and got a great deal at Kore so I took a chance on it despite all the negative reviews. I think the 1 out 5 star ratings are ridiculously unfair. Rooms were big, clean, and comfy. Location was decent and had great views of the sea. I only had breakfast as I like to get out and explore, so I couldn't tell you much about the quality of food. The waiters were good, as soon as I sat down, my coffee was poured. After they recognized I tip, I never had to wait in line to get my omelets...lol. best part was the service from the front desk concierge (the Mexican soap opera looking guy) Victor. Dude was always so nice and helpful. Upon checkout, I had a late flight out, he knew that I love bike riding, so he let me keep my bracelet to have access until my shuttle arrived. I did not experience most of the issues on these reviews. English speaking staff was a challenge, but i found that was an issue everwhere I was in Tulum. Overall, if you were to go by the strict AAA guidelines, this hotel would probably recieve a 3-3.5 rating and closer to a 4 by the generous booking sites. This was no Hyatt, but a good value. Dont let those 1 star ratings discourage you. My rating does not include the quality of food...
El Beso Adults Only at Ocean Riviera Paradise All Inclusive
4/5101 Reviews
Firstly El Beso is simply 1 building within the larger Ocean Rivera resort. Meaning only your building is Adults Only. Our Swim up room was lovely. We tried almost all if not all of the 10 restaurants and we had no complaints the food was good. Maybe not always amazing but never terrible. There’s like 3/4 different brands or levels of service within the larger resort. El Beso seems to be 1 level from the top which is Privilege we switched for an extra night & the mini bar for privilege was much better as well as having the butler service and priority restaurant bookings when they were all booked. There’s also a special restaurant only for privilege that was great but none of the restaurants were extremely crowded. There’s an app or webpage that works like an app with all of the resort info and you can book reservations there. There’s also lots of entertainment nightly. It’s definitely a place to go and stay there’s no need to venture outside of the resort there’s so many things to do schedules are packed for all of the different areas & a bowling alley and theater. There is not much near by the tourist area is maybe 20 mins away by car down the beach.
Royal Solaris Cancun-All Inclusive

Our experience started weak but ended stronger. This resort had customer service that was unresponsive, and unhelpful when we did reach them, prior to our arrival. While drinks are included, all I could drink were bottled beers or wine because the cocktails that any barista made were the worst I had tasted - mudslide, vodka soda, pinacolada, etc. all were terrible. Maybe they do this so guests don't order much alcohol? Waiters are a hit and miss, Marco Polo had a wonderful waiter who put on a show for us, while the Caribbean restaurant by the sea had a waiter who never once got our orders right, dozens of wrong orders or forgotten items in every sitting. Airport transport has many rules - for pickup, you must order 12-24 hours in advance, outside that window you're on your own. For dropoff, you must order the day before departure, can't pre-arrange 2 days in advance and you can't arrange the same day either, add some stress to your holiday. This resort benefits from its connection to neighboring GR Caribe by Solaris as their combined facilities and the prettier design of GR Caribe make the overall resorts experience more interesting and memorable.
Anah Suites

The apartment in itself has a very nice size, big closet, big and comfortable bed, big sofa, 2 tvs, etc.. At our arrival bot soap dispensers in the bathroom were completely empty!!!!!! We had to contact the Company that manages the apartment, the guy came with one of those huge jar of floor cleaning product cut in half in with inside a liquid in dark yellow/brown colour and fill those dispensers up... very weird.. He was not able to give us any soap to clean dishes in the kitchen :( The kitchen had very few dishes to be used so we could not really use it. We used the pool on the rooftop but the bar on the below floor was in ”restructure” mode (and it seems that it has been like that for a while). We only needed to stay for 1 night, so it was not a big issue for us, but it's a shame that in the whole Riviera Maya nice apartment are not really maintained and services properly...

Some staff are very friendly, such as Felix👍 The buffet breakfast is delicious, but expensive, 580 pesos/person. The waiter asked us what we wanted to drink, and we said cappuccino. When we checked out, we were charged an extra 126 pesos/2 cups of cappuccino. It turned out that coffee other than Americano was charged separately, and they did not inform us in advance. I paid $50 when I checked in, and I thought it was a deposit, but it was not returned to me when I checked out. It was said to be a service tax, 10 dollars per day*5 days, but when I booked the room, it said that the price included all fees... (The platform has solved it) On the night of 4/1, there was a sudden mosquito disaster. Fortunately, we changed to an all-inclusive hotel on 4/2, and there was not a single mosquito in that hotel.
