"The hotel was very clean, and the staff were incredibly polite. It was definitely worth the money I paid. I also got to try both types of private open-air baths, and the in-room open-air bath was spacious enough. All the meals were delicious and thoroughly satisfying. My only minor disappointment was that the next course was brought out very quickly, one after another, before I had even finished the previous one. This might have been because we had the 8 PM dinner slot. I'd recommend booking your dinner time early if you can. I wasn't able to choose and only had the 8 PM slot available. Also, I was advised that the earlier breakfast slots were recommended and that other times might not allow me to fully enjoy the meal, but that wasn't the case at all. Everything was fine."

"This private onsen (hot spring) is absolutely perfect for shy people! All three private, reserved baths were incredibly clean, and I thoroughly enjoyed soaking in them. However, there was no air conditioning in the room, so I woke up in the middle of the night feeling hot. I had to leave the balcony door open to cool down. It probably wouldn't be an issue in winter, but in summer, you'd have to sleep with the door open. Overall, I'm very satisfied."

"We traveled from Australia. A great ryokan next to the Kusatsu center. They did a valet parking for free and the room was great overlooking the old street. No dinner was available but there were many great restaurants nearby. Thanks"

Kusatsu Onsen-Kanemidori Ryokan

"An oasis of calm in a stone’s throw away from Yubatake. Getting up here can be tricky if you drive but the staff are standing by to direct your car to the reserved parking lots. Breakfast and dinner were exquisite Kaiseki sets. The indoor/outdoor onsens were spacious and clean, with zen greenery surrounding the baths. Traditional rooms are spacious and cosy, with staff setting up the futons while you have dinner. Great place to stay with delicious food."

Urakusatsu Tou

"Hotel parking too far from the hotel. Only one hour allowance given to remove the car after check out which is not convenient for guests. Private bath is not so good compared to public onsen in the hotel. However breakfast and dinner served were delicious."
