"My stay at Shangri-La Baotou far exceeded my expectations! Even before checking in, I received a call from the hotel arranging the room according to my preferences. Upon arrival, the concierge proactively helped with luggage, and the front desk staff were warm and meticulous, introducing the hotel's restaurants and fitness center. The room was clean and hygienic! I've had their shaomai before and it was good, but this time I was particularly impressed by the new mutton buns at breakfast – absolutely amazing! My family really enjoyed the freshly fried dough sticks. Overall, the entire check-in process was excellent, and the hotel's location is superb! It's only about a 15-minute drive from the highway exit! Finally, a special shout-out to Avila Wang."

"This isn't so much a hotel as it is a resort. We stayed in a room with a view; it wasn't huge, but it had all the necessary amenities, and the toiletries were of good quality. The soundproofing was average, but to find such an environment in the desert was already very satisfying. The hotel offers various entertainment facilities, a complimentary cafe bar with excellent coffee. As for the dining, I felt it met five-star hotel standards, with a rich variety of dishes and all-you-can-drink beverages. After checking in, all the activities on the various islands of Xiangshawan were free, and there were also fantastic shows. In the evening, the hotel hosted some truly spectacular performances – a front-row concert experience throughout. It was absolutely amazing."

"The Shangri-La Baotou is indeed a bit old-fashioned, and the Shang Palace restaurant wasn't up to par, the food wasn't great. Breakfast was decent though. Facilities: The facilities are definitely quite dated. The rooms have a strong 'old-school official' vibe. Hygiene: It was quite clean, and the bathrobes were even placed in dust covers. Environment: The common areas are very good, the lobby is spacious in the usual Shangri-La style. Service: The service was excellent. Happy Hour light meal: This dinner was good, much better than the afternoon tea. The afternoon tea was very perfunctory. Because of this, it was clear that there was no need for executive privileges in Baotou, so I canceled the executive suite at another five-star hotel and booked a newly opened budget hotel instead."

"Overall, the Lotus Hotel is arguably the best hotel in Xiangshawan. It boasts an exclusive desert landscape right outside, and its internal facilities are comprehensive, with a rich variety of dining options – the mini hot pot for dinner is particularly unique. The hotel offers various sports activities, keeping kids entertained on-site, though guests can also visit Xiansha Island and Yuesha Island, with quick vehicle response times. However, for a price tag exceeding 6000 yuan, there's room for improvement in the following areas: First, the room interiors feel a bit dated. The mini-fridge was empty, and the room lighting was uneven, with some areas normally lit and others too dim, and still no bedside lamps. Second, there's no dedicated butler service, and rooms lack telephones, with only a front desk call button on the wall. Third, the check-out experience was subpar. Since it takes 2-3 hours for the hotel to transport luggage to the visitor center, we had to carry our large suitcases ourselves, take the cable car, haul them up over 30 steps (no elevator or luggage chute), and walk 5 minutes to the reception center to catch a taxi."
