"We were traveling with my parents and children and were very satisfied with the accommodation. The owner and his wife were extremely welcoming and kind. We parked our car at the B&B the next day to rest after visiting Labrang Monastery. The owner was very hospitable. My parents were also very satisfied and praised it highly on the way back to Lanzhou!"

"It was low season when I arrived (early May) so I was the only guests. The new owners don’t speak any English, but check-in and everything went smoothly. Rooms have all the amenities you need and were clean. Hotel is close to all the sights on walking distance including some good restaurants. I didn’t try the restaurant of the hotel itself so can’t say much about that."

"Best hotel I’ve stayed in on my trip. The family made me feel so welcome. The room was very comfortable and quiet. Lots of hot water. Food was great. They gave me a bike to cycle to the grasslands and did my washing for free! Also dropped me at the bus station. So kind and lovely. And the owner speaks perfect English."

The Xiahe Yano Sangke International Camping Park is perfectly located; you open your door to an endless expanse of grassland, with blue skies and white clouds complementing the distant mountains. Every photo you take looks like a professional shot. The tent facilities are clean and tidy, the bedding is comfortable, and the en-suite bathrooms are very well maintained. The staff are warm and attentive, promptly responding to any needs. In the evening, the prairie breeze is wonderfully refreshing. It's a truly immersive experience to enjoy the night on the grassland, far from the city's hustle and bustle. The food is also delicious, with fresh ingredients. Overall, it’s a perfect experience. "Facilities: There is only one public restroom, which is very inconvenient. It is not convenient to take a shower or use the toilet. Needs to be improved.
Hygiene: Because it is a newly opened B&B, there are only the proprietress and her husband, so they are probably too busy, and the beds are not changed in time.
Environment: The B&B has just been renovated. The decoration is very ethnic and the environment is very good.
Service: The lady boss is very nice. Because I brought Chinese medicine for my children that needed to be refrigerated, she enthusiastically helped me find a refrigerator to store it. She also helped us add a mattress to the room for two. The service was very enthusiastic.
Generally speaking, the boss is very nice and the service is very enthusiastic, but the hardware facilities need to be improved. One bathroom is really inconvenient, and the hygiene needs to be improved. Then there is the need to apply for tax invoices, as some guests need invoices."

"We absolutely loved our stay at 山古民宿 Shangu Homestay. The room was spacious, well presented in ******* style, and kept wonderfully warm with underfloor heating. The window-side lounge area was so cozy that we didn’t want to leave after three nights. Dinner was a highlight—the ******* hotpot was delicious, with fresh yak meat, vegetables, and noodles. Breakfast included fruit, ******* butter tea, and tsampa, giving us a real taste of local traditions.
The host was incredibly welcoming and shared fascinating stories about ******* culture, nomadic life, and even how to make incense. During our stay, it snowed heavily, and our children had a fantastic time playing in the snow with the host. It was not just accommodation, but a cultural journey filled with warmth and unforgettable memories. Highly recommended!

"The facilities are new and clean, the boss is hospitable, the scenery is pleasant, suitable for relaxation and stargazing. But because there is no air conditioning, it will be a bit cold in early June, and it should be more comfortable in July and August. I will come again if I have the chance."

DDarylThe house was absolutely beautiful! The hosts were very kind and friendly. There were very good mountains for long hikes right behind the house and the views from the top of the mountain were very good. The house was also a medium walk away from the Labrang monastery and we found it very calming to get up early to spin the prayer wheels there. We absolutely recommend this beautiful house and helpful hosts for others.

QQiyiguo1125The guesthouse boasts a very artistic decor, which makes perfect sense as the owners are both university art teachers. The hosts are incredibly welcoming; they offered homemade yak yogurt as a welcome treat and even gave us small soaps as a parting gift. If you're driving, it's best to contact the owners in advance, as the guesthouse is nestled quite deep within a small mountain village. You can't drive directly to it; cars need to be parked on the road opposite the village, and a staff member from the guesthouse will come to pick you up on an electric tricycle. The rooms are clean and tidy, and you can even ask the hostess to light a ******* incense stick for you. In the evening, guests from different places gathered in the courtyard to chat, and it felt just like a group of old friends catching up. Breakfast consisted of a few simple, home-style dishes, but the auntie's cooking was absolutely delicious. The pumpkin and white rice porridge, in particular, was incredibly smooth and creamy – I had several bowls!

HHuazhuxiaoshenniniThe B&B is relatively close to Labrang Monastery. The B&B staff are warm and responsive to every request (I need a nail clipper). The B&B also provides a free dinner with two meals to choose from. The B&B does not have its own parking lot, so you need to park at the Labrang Monastery parking lot, which is about 200-300 meters away from the B&B. The breakfast is Tibetan-style, which I am not used to. There is no TV in the room and a lack of entertainment facilities. The location of the B&B is not easy to find. If you drive there, you need to contact the B&B waiter in advance. Although there were some minor problems in the middle, they were resolved in time.

However, please note that the name of the hotel name is “Samphel Dhondup Hotel”, and it is located near the southern corner of 腾志路, Tengzhi Road, near the Monastery Ticket Centre and the river. This was confusing upon arrival.
The heated floors were extremely hot, and not able to be turned off. Our room was a sauna, despite being -4°c outside (we had our window open the whole time). Hopefully this can be fixed. Breakfast was small but we were here during the offseason.

GGuest UserThe B&B makes people who are away from home feel like they are back home, with delicious dishes and a warm and homely environment. You can see the misty mountains and the strange rain in the surrounding area. You can also drink tea and rest in the lobby. It is not far from the scenic area and there is a parking lot at the door. It is worth it for those who go out!

AAnonymous UserWe stayed three nights at Nirvana Resort in early July and loved our time there. Spectacular location, the grasslands are alive with flowers and birds, and everyone at Nirvana was kind and helpful. We had our own car (ideal if possible) and alongside visiting Labrang Monastery and walking in the nearby hills, we also enjoyed driving around the backroads into Qinghai and immersing ourselves in the landscape. At the end of each day it was perfect to climb the hill to the Sky Bar and drink a beer while watching the land grow dark.

GGuest UserThe dorm was very clean and equipped with a kettle, which was nice. I was the only guest during my stay. As mentioned in the other reviews, the dorm is located in the basement and you have to walk a bit to reach the toilet.
The „shower“ is located across the front desk. It’s a small room where the hotel is storing their cleaning equipment, so showering there is a quite dirty and unpleasant experience. As there are so many dorms in the basement (I would guess 50+ beds), I wonder how they would handle the situation if the hotel is fully booked.
Overall I would recommend staying there for one night, if you are not picky.

The hotel is right next to the entrance of the monastery and most rooms have a nice view of the lively main street and the mountains behind. The rooms also have built-in heating so the room is not cold during the colder months. The bed is very comfortable. Staff doesn’t always speak English but they are very friendly. The hotel is a little bit outdated, but I think it is one of the best places to stay in Xiahe because of the location and it offers everything you need.
