"This was my favorite hotel during my trip to Japan. The price was reasonable, and the citizen's center where we had our conference was right downstairs. It's excellent! The subway station is only about 200 meters away, which is very convenient. The best part is the room is spacious, and you can see Mount Fuji right from the window. The breakfast is a full buffet and very rich. They even provide bath powder, toiletries, and for lotions and toners, it's Sekkisei! The service attitude was also great."

"We stayed in a few Ryokans but this Yoshiike Ryokan is the best because the room have large window that allow fresh mountain air to flow into the room and the futons are incredibly comfortable and warmed. We came in January when the weather dropped to 0c and the room had heaters. The onsen is beautiful and natural. My wife loved the gardens. And the receptionists are very polite and happy. We loved happy people that makes your money well spend. Will come back in the winter."

"This hotel is suitable for self-driving as public transport stops are quite a distance away, making it inconvenient with luggage. Checking in very late felt a bit odd, and I mistakenly went to an old building nearby which was quite a fright! However, many staff appeared the next morning and everything was sorted. The breakfast was plentiful, and the front desk staff, who spoke Chinese, were very helpful in assisting us with taxi bookings, which was a huge plus."

"This hotel offers great value for money. It's my second time in Hakone, and compared to the hotels by Lake Ashi, this one feels much newer. The rooms are quite spacious for Japan, with a 1.5-meter bed and a 1.1-meter bed side-by-side. The toilet is separate from the shower, which is a wet/dry design. The view from the window is also lovely. The hot springs are on the sixth floor, featuring both outdoor mountain-view onsens and indoor ones. The outdoor area also has a single and a double private pool, which is a nice touch. Overall, it's pretty good. The breakfast and dinner are more Japanese style, with ramen, miso soup, sashimi, and sweet shrimp. The mattress in the room was really comfortable. All in all, a great stay. Right opposite the hotel is the Okada Museum of Art, which I highly recommend visiting, especially as a Chinese person. The first floor of the five-story museum is dedicated to Chinese porcelain from various dynasties, with the oldest being a green-glazed阁楼 (pavilion) from the 2nd-3rd century BC (Former Han Dynasty), standing about a meter tall. I won't say too much more, as photography of the artifacts is not allowed."

"This is a surprisingly old hotel. While many of the amenities are dated and some rooms lack private bathrooms, my personal experience makes it highly recommended. I stumbled upon a deal on Ctrip and booked a room with an indoor hot spring bath and private bathroom. Each room has a different name. We stayed in Chidori, which was on the second floor without an elevator, so we had to carry our luggage upstairs. It was spacious and had a simple river view. The hotel signs the names of guests arriving at the door, which was a great experience from the start. They check in their slippers upon arrival, so you need to use them. There's free-flowing drinks and a variety of flavored liquors, and free cold drinks are available outside the public bathrooms. We booked a two-meal package, which includes two time slots for dining, which is recommended, as many restaurants in Hakone close around 5 PM, making it difficult to find food, except for 7-Eleven and Lawson. Once you reserve a table for dinner, you'll also have breakfast the next day, so you don't have to worry about repeating meals if you stay multiple nights. They also offer different dining options based on the length of your stay. Dinner includes a 75-minute all-you-can-drink offer, which is quite impressive. The hotel provides special bathrobes, but the straps are stored in a basket in the room. The towels in the basket are for guests to use in the public hot springs. Since the hot springs are recreated from the Edo period, they're quite basic. There's no shower head, so you have to scoop water to shower, as the tap below only dispenses cold water. If you're using an indoor hot spring, you can skip it. For transportation, if you're arriving at Hakone-Yumoto Station, exit the station and cross the overpass to take the mountain bus from the opposite stop. If you're arriving at Kamito-no-Sawa Station, it's about three stops. Remember to ring the doorbell before arriving, otherwise the bus won't stop unless someone else gets on. Whether you're using a card or a pass, you need to swipe or present your pass when you get on board and swipe or present it again when you get off. Remember, the Izu Bus does not accept passes. Because the mountain roads are rugged and difficult to walk, it's best to take a bus rather than hike. Remember to take a photo of the departure time to avoid missing the bus or waiting too long. In addition to most of the tourist attractions, the most lively places in Hakone are the shops in the hot spring town outside Hakone Yumoto Station. Most of them close at 5 pm, so if you need to go shopping, remember to go early."

"This hotel is conveniently located about 200 meters from the Tenyu bus stop, accessible by Hakone's main bus lines, Z03 and J03. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and has a very stylish ambiance. The Japanese-style room, though not huge, was quite spacious and quiet. Despite checking in during February, the room's excellent insulation actually made it feel warm. The private open-air bath on the balcony was amazing; even with outside temperatures around 5 degrees Celsius, the continuous flow of 40-degree-plus hot spring water meant it was never cold. The hotel also offers outdoor public baths and a footbath. Plus, on the 5th floor lobby, there are two free ice cream machines – just ask the front desk for complimentary tokens to enjoy as much as you like – and a continuous supply of various iced teas. I must especially commend the dining experience; half-board (dinner and breakfast) is an absolute must! Upon check-in, the front desk proactively changed our two nights of shabu-shabu to one night of shabu-shabu and one night of kaiseki. Each dinner was a full course, incredibly delicious, and left us completely stuffed. For breakfast, there are two restaurants, and I highly recommend the buffet; the variety is extensive and far superior to the breakfast at the Imperial Hotel, which is often ranked as a top Tokyo dining spot on Ctrip. The hotel also hosts free evening performances, and you can even pay to release sky lanterns. Honestly, if I came to Hakone 100 times, I'd stay at Tenyu 100 times."

"The lobby was very comfortable with a great view and a warm ambiance. The staff were attentive and responsible. Self check-in was available, and there were free drinks in the lobby. The room was very clean and comfortable."

"The hotel was new and clean. We had a room with a view towards the mountain. To reach there you can walk or take a bus. Near Souzan station, which I think it is ideal if you plan to stay overnight because you can continue the journey through the ropeway. There is no actual reception, the reception is done within the restaurant. If you want breakfast at the place, please contact the hotel before arriving because the rest of the areas nearby start quite late after 9am. Also, the hotel may not have dinner, need to check with Hotel before booking. Made a mistake of not checking and had to order Food delivery which was not very nice. But the staff there are friendly and nice. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and may decide to stay there again next time "

"This hotel is nestled in the mountains of Hakone so it's very peaceful and quiet. Room and amenities are new and extremely clean. The surroundings are also worth checking out, with a park just opposite and a waterfall nearby. Major bonus if you go in autumn as the maple trees will turn flaming red. Another big pro is the free access to the Yunessun onsens (free rental of towels and swimsuit upon showing that you're staying at the hotel). The indoor onsen has funky pools like coffee, red wine and green tea, but the real gem is the Mori no yu outdoor onsen. Once in the onsen, remember to go down the steps to discover many more pools below with nice surroundings and mountain view. Also a shoutout to the hotel staff who are incredibly kind and helpful. It's a small hotel with only 3 levels. No escalators or lifts but the staff will help to carry your luggage upon check in and check out. A kind staff even checked whether I have an umbrella when I was about to go out because it might rain. I daresay this is my favourite hotel amongst all the hotels I've stayed in."

"Great experience. The staff were lovely and the area is beautiful. Rooms are very homely and comfy. We went into the onsen both nights and it was great. We also got dinner both nights at the hotel and the food was good we were impressed. Overall it felt like a very personal stay and couldn't be happier. For some of the logistics if you are wanting to do the hakone main loop. We recommend coming in from Shinjuku on the romance car, take the montain train up to Gora and then the cable car to Sounzan. We then took a roughly 10min bus from Sounzan to Yuyu. The next morning we then took the same bus back to Sounzan and caught the first 9am ropeway fo start off the loop. We managed to avoid most of the crowds and it was very convenient. Once again couldn't recommend Yuyu enough thank you for the great stay!!"
