Located on 10 acres atop a mountain featuring breathtaking views, it is the perfect spot to savor your morning coffee while watching the sunrise or enjoy your evening glass of wine while watching the sunset. A gourmet kitchen and wood burning fireplace provide an ideal setting to enjoy time with your friends and family.The spaceThe home is located in a magical and secluded area of Lost River Valley on 10 acres atop a mountain.The upstairs living room has a comfortable couch and a reclining chair. The couch is perfect to snuggle up on in front of the wood burning fireplace (owner provided wood). The flat screen television is Roku-enabled so you can log in to all your favorite streaming services (Netflix, AmazonPrime, HBOMax, etc.)The kitchen features a farmhouse sink, an induction cooktop, a wine fridge, and a double oven. With these great appliances, you'll be able to take some of the essentials we've provided and the groceries you bring to make an unforgettable meal.The outdoor deck has panoramic views of the valley where you'll be able to watch breathtaking sunrises and be reminded why you're visiting. A comfortable seating area awaits, where you can relax with a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, or a good book. We have a propane Weber gas grill when you want to take the cooking from the kitchen to the deck.The downstairs living space features a large sectional couch with a 65" flat screen TV with sound bar along with a game room that features a foosball table and a card table where you can play cards or board games, or gather around to put together one of the supplied puzzles. Sliding glass doors give you direct access to the outdoors where you can set up the supplied cornhole lawn game or horseshoes.Downstairs, behind the glass and metal barn door you'll find the office, a quiet space where you can get some work done....if you must.The primary bedroom has a king size bed, a walk in closet, and an ensuite bathroom with soaking tub. The bedroom has a Roku-enabled TV so you can log in to all of your streaming accounts. Two large windows feature breathtaking views of the valley. There are blackout shades if you like to sleep in, but we recommend leaving them open at least once to wake up with the sunrise.The second bedroom has a queen size bed with unbeatable views. Pictures from a local artist adorn the walls. The third bedroom has bunk beds - a twin on top and a full on the bottom. These two bedrooms share a bathroom and a pocket door is able to close off these bedrooms from the rest of the house.If you head downstairs, you'll find the fourth and fifth bedrooms. One features a king size bed with a reading nook and the other a queen size bed. Both bedrooms have large windows that allow you to take in the views. You may even see a deer walk by the bedroom windows in the early morning or evening hours. These two bedrooms share a large bathroom with a tub and shower.Guest accessYou will have access to the entire house and property. The community is great and we often walk up and down the gravel road that leads to the house. Wildlife is abundant and deer are often around each bend in the road. We ask that you not go on any of the neighbors’ property.Other things to note* We have outfitted the kitchen with all the appliances you'll need to make a great meal. We have also provided some spices, oils, coffee, and tea. Also available for your use is a drip coffee maker, an electric hot water kettle, a toaster oven, and a microwave.* Cell phone service on the roads leading up the house is spotty at best. Once you're at the house it is better, but can still be spotty. The house has fast WiFi so you'll be able to connect to the outside world (if you even want to!) and stream all your audio and video content.* Pets are permitted on a case-by-case basis, and there will be a $100 pet fee per stay to cover deep cleaning. Please contact us in advance for pre-approval so that we can manage the cleaning schedule and avoid potential allergy issues for future quests, etc.* Firewood: We provide plenty of firewood on the premises, however, you may want to bring your own starter.* There is no hunting permitted while you're visiting Lost River Lookout. No guns permitted on the property.* There is a camera over the driveway. It's primarily used to see what the weather conditions at the top of the mountain are during the winter. The home is perched on a hillside, with a large screened porch that sits among the treetops.The property is very private, completely wooded, and has easy access to the George Washington National Forest, Trout Pond Recreation Area, and more.A firepit, picnic area, porch swing, indoor wood-burning fireplace, and cozy living space complete this cabin getaway.The spaceLocated about 2 hours from Washington, DC, the home is a completely private two-story, 1,800 SF cabin with three beds and two bedrooms. The 2.5 acre property is totally secluded from neighbors, and the home's location on a hillside places you amongst the treetops.BEDROOMS:The cabin has two bedrooms on the second floor that comfortably sleeps up to 6 people. The primary bedroom has a king size bed, while the secondary bedroom has two queen beds.BATHROOM:There is one bathroom for guests to share. Located on the first floor, the bathroom has a standard combination tub & shower, as well as a large vanity.KITCHEN:The kitchen is fully stocked with every essential cookware, dinnerware, and utensil needed to prepare any and all meals during your stay.LIVING & DINING:The living room is furnished with a large wrap-around couch and smart TV, perfect for a cozy movie night. Adjacent to the living room, the dining room table is large enough for every guest to enjoy a home-made meal or one of the board games provided in the home. Both spaces have direct access to the indoor, wood-burning stove.SCREEN PORCH:Off of the living room is a screen porch with spectacular views of the tree canopy, and in the winter, the mountain peaks in the distance.OUTDOOR:The front main porch has a charming porch swing and charcoal grill for guest use. Around the rear of the house, on the level below is an additional porch with access to the outdoor fire pit. Enjoy a cool evening around the fire, while also taking in the star-filled sky of the West Virginian wilderness.LOCAL ATTRACTIONS:The home is located within the George Washington National Forest, and is part of the Trout Pond Property Owner's Association. The cabin provides immediate access to nature, while Trout Pond (located within the neighborhood) offers opportunities for hiking, swimming, and fishing.Within a 30 minute drive, the neighboring towns of Lost City and Wardensville offer local restaurants, general stores, farmers markets, and much more. Be sure to check out, Guesthouse Lost River, The Lost River Trading Post, The Lost River General Store & Cafe, and TK's Lounge to name a few.Beyond that guests can also enjoy many local vineyards in the region, Bryce Ski Resort, Luray Caverns, and The Lost River State Park.Guest accessGuests will be provided with a unique access code to enter the home via an electronic keypad at the front door. Otherwise, the entire home and property are available for guest use.Other things to noteIMPORTANT:Be sure to download offline maps before you arrive because there is no cell service once you enter the National Forest. But don’t be concerned, your phones will work once connected to Wi-Fi at the home. There is also a landline for emergencies.Once on site, guests will have free use of EV Charging if needed (J1772, 32-amp, 240 v charging is provided).
