The Whitetail Cabin is a secluded, yet easily accessible property that is spacious both inside and out. Inside, Aspen beams and decor provide a true Northwoods appeal with comfort and style, while outside is a peaceful and relaxing country view. Just 3 miles North there are thousands of acres of public land open to hunters and hikers. 20 minutes west are the Blue Hills and Christy Mountain ski resort with both downhill and cross-country skiing. There are excellent trout streams here as well. The Thornapple River is almost a stones throw away from the cabin and is excellent for a kayak or canoe float with great bass and musky fishing. The big rivers, the Flambeau and Chippewa, are just 5 and 15 minutes drive. They both are world class rivers for musky, bass, pike and walleye fishing as well as tubing which is very popular here. Lakes are too numerous and varied for description but offer excellent fishing, swimming and watersports. Fall brings deer, bear, duck and grouse seasons as well as spectacular fall colors. It is possibly the finest season to visit northern Wisconsin. In winter, Rusk County offers many miles of well groomed snowmobile trails with the trail passing right by the cabin. You can step right out of the cabin and on to your sled! There is room for parking several trucks and trailers so large groups are welcome. In addition to the multitude of woods and water sports, all summer long there are county fairs, festivals, rodeos, logging competition, dirt track racing, casinos and so much more all in easy driving distance. If simple peace, quiet and comfort is all you're looking for, come join us and enjoy the Northwoods! Our cabin is the perfect stay for couples, families and friends groups of up to eight. Zero entry front door and main level living make the cabin more accessible for guests with limited mobility. Our cabin is right on the Chippewa River, so while we welcome younger visitors, you’ll need to keep a close eye on very young children. The cabin can also be a great place to get some work done, with fast, reliable fiber optic internet. Each of the two bedrooms downstairs feature a queen size bed. Both rooms over plenty of space/closet space to store bags, or hang clothes. The spacious upstairs bunk room has two queen beds, perfect for children or friends! The cabin has a spacious great room, with plenty of space for you to spread out. The fully stocked kitchen is a cook’s dream, with a gas stove and massive island with seating for eight. The dining room offers a large table with an additional eight seats, perfect for big family dinners. The cozy living room has an electric fireplace and 65 inch smart TV. The large, private yard is perfect for yard games or relaxing in the hammocks or lounge chairs. Gather around the fire pit for cozy evenings under the stars.During the summer months, enjoy access to the hiking and walking trails on the property and adjacent county park. The river is just steps away and perfect for kayaking, canoeing, swimming and tubing! Please note that this section of the river is fairly shallow and not navigable by a motor boat. We also recommend water shoes/sandals if you plan to swim as the river is pretty rocky. The county park is just steps from the front door and features plenty of walking trails and a 9 hole disc golf course. During the winter, utilize the trails for snowshoeing or cross country skiing. Christie Mountain is just a short drive away if downhill skiing is more your speed. The cabin is surrounded by snowmobile and ATV trails for year-round adventure! The list below are some ideas for great day-trips- Slough Gundy - Big Falls County Park- Tim’s Hills- Blue Hills/Audie Lake - Copper Falls State ParkWhether you're looking to relax, play, or explore, our cabin is your ideal retreat for a memorable family vacation.
