We do not accept last minute cancellations or changes to the reservation for not being able to reach our home in a 2WD vehicle.Heating:We have Mitsubishi Heat Pump in the living area and the downstairs bedrooms. The loft gets toasty from the heater in the living room. There's also a backup whole house kerosene heater in the living room in case of power outages.Cooling:Although our heat pump can keep you cool on hot days in summer, we are at 4500 ft, among dense 100+ foot trees and next to a creek. The house is naturally pleasant all summer and never gets above 80F anytime of the day.Pets: We are pet-friendly. If you are bringing your pet, please let us know when you book. We charge an of $50/pet/stay for additional cleaning. The possibilities are endless … you’ll never want to leave!The spaceThe main family/living room has an open design with vaulted ceilings, a gorgeous wood burning fireplace and a 75” LED Smart TV. We have Starlink WiFi and you can also access your own Netflix/Hulu/HBOMax accounts if you prefer or fall down the rabbit hole and disconnect while at Wonderland.There are 3 bedrooms, and 1 loft (all with beds as shown in the photos -7 total) to accommodate a maximum of 13 guests. There are 2 ensuite full bathrooms and 1 common full bathroom. Downstairs there is a full bath off the kitchen - with tub/shower combo and full size washer dryer. The downstairs master has an enchanting rock shower with dual shower heads - rainwater and removable. Upstairs both bedrooms share a spacious Jack & Jill with a claw foot tub and dual shower head walk in shower.The kitchen is fully equipped with a 4-burner electric stove, dual ovens, toaster, microwave, air fryer, dishwasher, large fridge, and all basic kitchen utensils & supplies. What would Wonderland be without a tea party! There is a fully stocked tea/coffee station with teas, cocoa, creamers, sweeteners, fresh coffee beans, amazing loose leaf teas, electric kettle, a grinder and 3 coffeemaker options to make coffee how you prefer it. We also provide pantry essentials such as salt, pepper, olive oil, cooking oil, and filtered drinking water (from the Refrigerator or using the Water pitcher.) In addition we supply basic pizza ingredients for the outside pizza oven - dough, sauce and cheese. Run to the local market to get all your favorite toppings.And if all that's not enough, enjoy our expansive board game collection, outdoor connect four or giant jenga. Need to do a little work while on vacation or need some down time with a good book - enjoy our fulling furnished hidden library/office.Even though you’ll have great privacy our home is located only a couple of minutes off Highway 5 . You will find a beautiful home at the end of the private road with its back to nothing but the hill and forest. Our driveway is very steep with a sharp turn so 4W/AWD drive is recommend - especially in Winter. (We have video on our YouTube if you'd like to see it) If you plan to bring boat we recommend renting a slip at Antlers Resort & Marina (about 15 minutes away) We do have one parking spot set marked with cones to the right of our driveway entrance. There is a local grocery store, a gas station and a few amazing restaurants nearby so you could easily spend time at the house without needing to go very far. You can also order Instacart if needed. But for those who choose to venture out it also serves as a great base to explore nearby gems like Shasta Caverns, Mt Shasta, Lassen National Park, Burney Falls, Dunsmuir and so many other incredible sights.Whether you're planning to play in the lake, hike a volcano, ski the mountains, fish in a world-class river or simply need some nature therapy, we can't wait to host you.Guest accessThe cabin is located at the end of private road with sufficient parking (outdoors) for at least 3-4 cars. The drive way is steep so please do go up it at a moderate speed. We recommend 4WD or AWD during the winter. Wonderland is built into the side of the mountain surrounded by forest. There is a beautiful lit path up to an outdoor bed - feel free to explore the path but be careful there are steep areas that drop off to the creek. Children and pets should not be unsupervised.Guests do not have access to the shop or the storage sheds outside - there is no garage. Otherwise, guests have full access to the house and the yard as well as the open parking spaces outside the house.Tesla owners can stay charged with our mounted Mobile Connector. Using the standard outlet which can be accessed from the driveway, you can recharge up to 5 miles of range per hour with the NEMA 5-15 Adapter.Other things to noteGetting HereWonderland is just 2 miles off of Highway 5. Exit Gilman (ext 698) and turn right onto Roaring Brook Way - home is 0.3 miles down and the end of the street. This is a gravel road, with pot holes etc. In addition the neighbors dogs are sometimes on the road so please go slow!BEDROOMS:Bottom Floor:White rabbit room - Master suite - King bed with a full bath attached. Walk in rock wall shower with dual shower heads - waterfall and removable. Electric fire place and 65 inch TV.Top FloorQueen of hearts room - very large room with 2 queen beds, vanity, floor length mirror, electric fireplace, private deck with loungers and seating, hidden library/office and Jack and Jill en-suite with claw foot tub and walk in shower with dual shower heads.Cheshire Cat room - (great for kids or kids at heart!) Dual full bunk, electric fireplace, private deck with outdoor games and seating, Jack & Jill ensuite with claw foot tub and walk in shower with dual shower heads.Loft - climb the ladder inside the Cheshire Cat room to an adorable cozy loft with 1 full and 1 twin sized bed. This is not a fully private bedroom as it is inside/above the Cheshire Cat room. Perfect space for kids of kids at heart.Deck - 3 total - private deck with seating off each top floor bedroom and large deck overhanging creek in the backyardBackyard- outdoor dinning table, full lounge seating, covered gazebo you can use to protect you for the elements or bugs. Gas fire pit, BBQ grill, pizza oven and HOT TUB. Enchanted path - walk up to enjoy a outdoor bed under a gazebo.A maximum of 2 household pets are allowed on the premises with an additional fee (per pet)Other things to note~ The location is beautiful, quiet and somewhat remote. There is very limited if any cell service but we do have a land line.~ We have amazing Starlink internet! So you can use wifi calling on your phone, stream, watch the smart TVs or work of you need to.~ All of the sleeping areas and especially the loft can get hot as the warm air rises up. We do have a/c units and fans in each room. In winter the home runs off a Kerosene heater.~ There is a small grocery store in Lakehead which has all the essentials you might need. The closest supermarkets like Walmart, Safeway, Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, etc are in Redding about 30 minutes south on I-5. We highly recommend guests pick up groceries and supplies in Redding before driving up to Lakehead.~ Please respect the wildlife around you. You might spot deers, wild cats, bears and various types of birds. Please give them their space and keep a safe distance. Do not feed the bears or any other wildlife. Do not leave food or trash outside!~ The house is on a septic tank so please DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING EXCEPT TOILET PAPER down the toilets. You do not want your vacation ruined by a backed-up plumbing system.~The house has well water - we have a brand new UV filtration system so its very clean and taste wonderfully.~Please note that Shasta Lake is a reservoir so lake level can vary greatly changing the views, distance to the water, boat and marina status/access.~Forest fires are common in the summer and fall in Northern California. Interior:While the home is equipped to host 12 people, we think the perfect group size is 10. With the handcrafted wall decorations and painting, this area offers a very peaceful feeling while dining with your loved ones. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the essentials you’ll need to cook you and your family a tasteful dinner. It includes a fridge, range, oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, coffee machine, blender etc. The master bedroom has a JETTED HOT TUB and a huge walking closet. It also gives you a direct access to the 2nd floor deck where you can see some of the best mountain views in the area. The designated office area has a sliding door right next to the desk where you can watch the forest while doing your work. This office is equipped with two 24-inch monitors, wireless keyboard and mouse, and a USB-C docking station!
