"What a truly wonderful experience! I write this review while appreciating the most beautiful view from the pool. Elounda Heights is by far the most friendly welcoming hotel we’ve ever stayed in. It’s run by a lovely family with fabulous staff who go out of their way to make your holiday special and memorable. Amazing home made jams and treats kick off a delicious freshly prepared breakfast served to table. Thank you Cleo for the delicious rice pudding we’ll be back for more of that for sure! Lunch at the pool bar great too especially the Greek Club. Sun beds plentiful surrounding a peaceful and relaxing pool area. We’re staying in a Studio which is large, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It’s a truly special place impeccably run with home from home touches. Beautiful grounds beautiful views and one we will return to, hopefully very soon. Thank you all for a wonderful holiday."

"We just finished a week stay with my pregnant wife and 2.5 year old daughter. As with any holiday with a toddler there are inevitably ups and downs and the EGV team couldn’t have been more considerate, helpful and caring. The chef made delicious off menu pasta and omelettes for our daughter and Athina was incredibly sweet and sensitive at the kids club, doing painting and Easter crafts. George made superb cocktails and mocktails for us and some fresh strawberries for our daughter and Constantinos and the restaurant team couldn’t have been more supportive. Maria and the front desk team were lovely and had lots of very helpful advice and we didn’t have any of the additional charges that other guests have spoken of with the previous management. The lovely warm pool with our room was at no extra charge and the views from it were spectacular. I’d also recommend the beautiful trail walk around the opposite peninsula - Spinalogkas. It’s totally unspoiled and has such a magical feel to it. We had a great trip and would come back again."

"Extremely hospitable and helpful staff. The hotel equipment is completely new. The main restaurant has a very beautiful terrace overlooking the sea that offers a rich buffet, very good breakfast and dinner. Very beautiful view of the sea and the island of Spinalonga. "From the moment we arrived , we were greeted by the lovely Kostas . A warm , friendly welcome. He took us to our room that had a lovely spacious balcony with a view of Elounda bay . This hotel has wonderful staff including the amazing, very hardworking Sophia who seems to be everywhere . The Standard rooms are clean , however they are needing an upgrade . The Superior rooms have been done and are beautiful . Nothing can beat the location of this hotel, across the road , down the steps and on to the most beautiful bay ."

"From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and had the most breathtaking sea view. Watching the sunsets from our balcony every evening was pure magic. The room was impeccably cleaned every day, and every detail made our stay relaxing and enjoyable. A special thank you to Natalia and Kostas, who are exceptional hosts. Their warmth, kindness, and personal attention to every guest make this place truly special. On my birthday, they surprised me with a bottle of wine and their thoughtful wishes, which made the day even more memorable. We wholeheartedly recommend Elounda Heights to anyone visiting Crete. "On the plus side having booked a classic sea view room we were upgraded to a deluxe room which was sea facing but not with a good view. Lovely room and balcony with table chairs, and sofas. The service staff were amazing - all credit to our housekeeper Joanna, restaurant staff Evangeline and Maria. And the brilliant pianist Christina. However … the Jet2 description of the amenities are misleading and inaccurate and needs serious attention to save it from trades description - €30 deduction for eating in one of their listed restaurants was a joke, as many of the facilities are either closed or in their ‘sister’ hotel therefore not on site, and extremely expensive. Cheapest wine in the buffet restaurant was $38, Spa was out of action and had been closed for a long period. Infinity pool filthy and not fit for use. Love Elounda but would never return to this hotel. Sorry but very disappointing and not worthy of the 5* that Jet2 rates it."

"We had a lovely stay at Elounda Sunrise. Location: Perfect Room 17: Views were amazing from our apartment. The interior is simple but apartment is spacious and clean (which was maintained frequently during our 10 day stay). Toilet bins were emptied daily. A hook to hold the shower head would be good for ease but really wasn’t a problem l. The apartments patio faces directly onto the bar area, so if you are expecting exclusive privacy, I’d suggest you choose a different room. For us it really wasn’t an issue at all. Jungle Bar: provided exceptional service. Big shout out to Giannis and his brother for running a tight ship and to all the staff but particularly Soula who works incredibly hard all day every day serving her guests. I wish I had her stamina! Elounda Boat Trips: A shout out to Peter, who manages the boat trips (which is a must). He is full of local knowledge and suggested some lovely authentic Greek restaurants. He also hosts the quiz night, which was fun. Thank you to all at Sunrise for a great holiday."

"We had a very peaceful and relaxing holiday at EGV. We were given an upgrade to a villa that was really spacious and had the most fabulous infinity pool and spectacular views. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, special thanks to the restaurant staff who were very attentive. The selection of food on the breakfast buffet was extensive and beautifully presented. We would have preferred a set menu or a la carte for dinner rather than a buffet, but the food on the buffet was of a high standard, a good selection, well cooked and very flavoursome. The desserts were much the same every day, so some variety would have been good. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and hope to visit again."

"We stayed here for 4 nights. I had booked a sea view room, but they said it was upgraded to a room with a jacuzzi. While the jacuzzi was nice and relaxing, the sea view was quite limited, which was a bit disappointing. The property is located in a remote and peaceful part of the island. It has excellent internet access and a decent outdoor gym. Since it is right by the sea, you can enjoy walking or running along the coast to the nearest town, Mavrikianon. One important thing to mention is that the property does not have direct access to the sea. To swim, you need to go to either Plaka Beach, which requires a minimum spend of €40 per person to use the sunbeds, or to Mavrikianon Beach, which is much more affordable at €5 per person for the entire day. Mavrikianon Beach is very pleasant and close to markets where you can buy drinks. There are also some good food and drink spots nearby, such as Rudi’s Bar, a British-style pub, and Porto Rino, which serves great pizzas. Make sure to skip Nico’s Fish Tavern and try the Ferryman instead — you won’t regret it. What we found most frustrating was the lack of mosquito screens on the windows. Sleeping with the windows open was not really an option, even though the natural breeze was wonderful. Our room had air conditioning, but we tend to get sick sleeping with it on. There was a ceiling fan as well, but it is a shame to miss out on the fresh air simply because of a missing screen. The breakfast was also a disappointment. There were very few options, the coffee was not good, and the omelettes were overcooked. The most inconvenient part of our stay was the parking system. You have to check in and out with security every time, which felt excessive and time-consuming. It gave the impression of entering a high-security zone, not a relaxing holiday resort. Overall, it was a good experience with some nice features, but for the price, it lacks comfort and convenience in a few key areas. ."

"We have just come back from a lovely stay at the Elounda Orama, we had sea view room in the third block and the view was incredible! Everyone was friendly and accommodating throughout our stay (special thank you to Stavros, Sophia and Costas!). The room was lovely, tidy and cleaned daily. The breakfast and pool bar were also great and the pool bar do a lovely Pina Colada! Only minor complaint would be that there was no wifi throughout our stay due to a fault, they were waiting for a new router which we understand was out of their control, but was a bit costly for us to use our phone data. Otherwise a great stay and would definitely come back!"

"We’ve stayed at Elounda Beach five times over the years, so were slightly nervous about trying somewhere different. In the end, Porto Elounda exceeded our expectations. The biggest difference is the atmosphere. It feels much more relaxed and family-oriented, while still being a genuinely high-quality hotel. Nothing feels forced or overly formal, and we found ourselves unwinding much more quickly than usual. The food was a real surprise. Even the buffet was excellent, with a level of quality and variety you don’t often see. We genuinely looked forward to dinner every evening. A special mention to the manager, who was outstanding throughout our stay. He was always visible, always helpful, and clearly cares about both the guests and the team. That attitude seems to run through the whole hotel. The location is beautiful, the beach is great, and the service was consistently friendly and professional. After five stays at Elounda Beach, I didn’t expect to find a hotel in the area that suited us better, but Porto Elounda probably does. We would happily return."

"From the moment we arrived, (late at night !) to the moment we left, we were made to feel welcome and at home. We has an apartment on the second floor with a view over the sea which was gorgeous. The apartment itself was simple but incredibly clean and well equipped, with the cleaners coming daily. Nikos is a wonderful host, and was always happy to give us recommendations and advice. The apartments are a lovely 5 minute walk into the town which is full of great cafes and restaurants, and a 5 minute drive to Kolakitha Beach - a beautiful gem of a beach (although not on a Sunday when all the locals go and it becomes very crowded.) The bar in the hotel is calm and tranquil and all the staff go out of their way to look after you. We were only there for a week, but I would happily return and really hope that we will. "

"The positives : this adult only hotel has stunning views especially from the sky bar The staff are very helpful and friendly It has a great location with only a 5 minute walk into the town where there are many bars and places to eat The room we had was nice and clean and all essentials provided - fridge , hairdryer , tea/coffee Good air con in the room We had a Big balcony with sun beds Good food and a big choice of drinks at a reasonable price in the sky bar Great breakfast with plenty of choice The negatives: our room had a very hard bed however when I asked for a mattress topper it was given to us straight away Only 10 sunbeds around the pool that had umbrellas - if you have come to sunbath/sit around the pool there is not much of a chance as people get there early and take the sunbeds (i went at 8.30 and nowhere to go) There are bean bags also around the pool but no shade where they are There is a small beach but again all the sunbeds taken early I do appreciate it is only a small hotel with no room to put any more sunbeds I could have sat on my sunbed on my balcony but there is zero shade until about 4PM and no umbrella provided"
