"Traveling during the off-season avoids peak tourist seasons, and the guesthouse I booked was great value for money. I specifically chose one that was renovated within the last two years, as it had an elevator, making carrying luggage easier. Honestly, the "starry sky room" wasn't necessary; it just added a skylight and made the room a bit more spacious. Compared to the other twin room I booked, this one was slightly inferior in terms of facilities and cleanliness. The bathroom didn't have a separate shower and toilet area, and the showerhead was right next to the toilet. The elevator was right next to the room, and you could hear it running. However, the owners were very welcoming, and there was a map of Longhu Mountain on the wall in the lobby. The owners gave us a detailed explanation of the travel routes. Stay tuned for the real-life manhunt: The "Disappearing Xiaoyu" of Beijing 9/11."

It's less than a 10-minute walk to Tianshi Mansion and Hanfu, and there's a whole street of delicious food nearby. The front desk staff was also very friendly and helpful. On our first day, we even received some really sweet oranges. The management is excellent, and they even provide umbrellas in the lobby, which is a nice touch. The facilities are quite new, and a buffet breakfast was included."

"The owners were honest and welcoming; their enthusiasm wasn't overly overbearing, making the experience quite comfortable. We only exchanged a few words during check-in and check-out. Otherwise, we mostly just nodded and smiled at each other. It was a nice place. However, the word "hotel" felt a bit inappropriate 😂 It's a self-built guesthouse. Fortunately, there's an elevator and the hygiene is acceptable. Its strength lies in its value for money, as we had a 65+ year old mother and a 5-year-old son with us. So, four people sharing a room was perfect. There were two 1.5-meter twin beds. A large restaurant connected to the hotel above enthusiastically solicits guests to eat there, but you can avoid it 😂 It's really not good; the cooking is worse than my family's. I don't know how such a large restaurant can survive; maybe it's all one-off business like ours. Searching on Dianping (a Chinese review platform), "Chen Ji" is indeed a good option nearby. Anyway, all the restaurants have similar menus. For rice noodles, you have to go through a back alley to "Hao Niu Dao" beef bone rice noodle shop, which has a wider selection and is also one of the better-tasting in the area. I suddenly had an epiphany about food: when you're out of town, you can still join the crowds and check reviews. Good restaurants don't necessarily offer delivery, but those that don't offer delivery yet aggressively solicit customers are definitely not good. 🤣"

"Waking up to a mountain view right outside the window was absolutely worth every penny! The location is fantastic too, just a few minutes' walk to the entrance of Tianshi Mansion, so we could pop back for a rest whenever we got tired. The room was spotless, with plenty of hot water and strong air conditioning. The host, a local, was incredibly welcoming and helped us plan a route to avoid crowds, and even recommended some amazing local restaurants, saving us from tourist traps.
