"We were on the 2nd floor of the annex, which required carrying our luggage up steep steps. The room itself had a lovely front view of the water and was quite spacious with a sitting room. The room was clean, beds were comfortable, the tv and WiFi worked perfectly and there was an easy to use espresso machine in the room as well as a selection of teas. The bathroom was an odd layout, very narrow with the shower tucked in the corner and a step up to get into. Anyone not fit would have a hard time getting in I believe. We didn’t use the geothermal hot bath as it wasn’t hot enough for us, but the location is perfect as it’s just a quick walk from the room. We ate dinner in the basement restaurant and it was a lovely experience with a terrific meal. Breakfast was also very good, having the usual Icelandic assortment. As someone sensitive to smells, I was irritated by the overuse of air fresheners. The smell in reception made me sneeze, and the one right outside our room was so overpowering I had to relocate it. I began noticing them everywhere and realize they must be in use to mask something less pleasant. The strong scent was far too overwhelming for me though."

Siglo Hotel by Keahotels
"While initially promising, Siglo is not recommended for most types of tourists visiting the area. If you are into something superfluous and party-oriented in nice surroundings, you have found your place. However, if you are looking something calming, cozy or romantic, to enjoy the classic beauty of the mountains and the fjord, Siglo is to be avoided. Most importantly, they promote a “relaxing environment”. Far from this, when heading to the external hot tub, we found a group of semi-drunks and loud disco music from 1-meter high speakers with subwoofers, which would fit a party in Cancun. The hotel personnel, which was aware, could not care less and of course it was impossible to use the “relaxing” hot tub area. Furthermore, the room category we opted for was advertised as having “upgraded amenities”, including a Dolce Gusto coffee machine and bath products from Molton Brown Organics; however neither was present. Regarding breakfast, this was indifferent in terms of both quality and variety, offering nothing above an average Icelandic hotel. It was not bad, but it was actually not better than any other breakfast in a 15-room family-run motel anywhere else in Iceland. Besides, for a hotel supposedly supporting ecological values and local products and located in an area renowned for herring fishing, it is notable that its breakfast features avocados but zero herring. The personnel in the reception was not unpleasant. The servers in the breakfast area were efficient in their core tasks but not exactly welcoming (e.g. no “good morning” unless prompted). On the positives, credit where it is due: the bed is large and comfortable, and the surrounding nature and views from the room are stunning; however, both can be found elsewhere in much calmer and honest places."

"This is definitely the place to stay. The bungalows are fantastic. It is perfect for families. There is one bedroom with 2 beds ... Bathroom and kitchen. Above the kitchen there is another bed where 2 can sleep. The bungalow has a hot tub outside which has natural thermal bath. Fantastic experience with the view to the river and mountain. Nice romantic time. Bring your own wine or champaigne. The bungalow is clean. The host is very helpful and very friendly. Good value.."

"First, a qualifier, we were there is the off-season. However, if your are open, then you should be open! Except for check-in and at dinner on night (the restaurant was closed the second night), there was not a single person in the building. We and two other guests ww the only occupants of the entire building. Had to pay for breakfast, which we had to go around the corner to a bakery to get. Not worth it."

"The guesthouse is located in the center of town, next to a church. The bedrooms have private bathrooms and are very clean. The communal kitchen is also large and fully equipped with stoves and tableware. I would definitely stay here again next time."
