Khans Palace ★★★
"It's quite clean and the location is great. Breakfast is decent. However, it can be a bit dark if you're coming back late at night. The biggest drawback, at least for my room (101), was the lack of a refrigerator. Other than that, I'd say it's pretty good."
Arkanchi Hotel ★★★★
"Be aware of using hotel facilities. We wanted to use the hotel sauna and asked one staff member at reception the cost in advance and were told 50,000 som and we agreed to use it on that basis. The next day, a different staff member told us to pay 500,000 som, 10x what we were quoted, for using the sauna the day before. We raised the discrepancy and they showed us an internal message between staff that we never saw or had access to where they agreed on the price. This kind of misalignment between staff, and not quoting the correct price to customers upfront led to us having to pay the brunt. When we raised this, staff acknowledged the quote we received didn't match what was billed, but management's "compromise" was still 250,000 som — five times what we originally agreed to, and a price we would never have accepted had it been quoted to us from the start. We understand mistakes happen, but a customer should not be held responsible for miscommunication of the staff members. We'd recommend not using any extra cost facilities and would have appreciated the hotel simply honoring the price we were quoted."
Turon Khiva
"The hotel's location is very convenient – it's in the old town, not right in the center, but on the outskirts, yet it's a 3-minute walk to the center. Because of this location, the hotel is quite quiet. We were given a room with a balcony on the second floor, which had a wonderful view of the old town. However, the room and bathroom were very small, and the bed linens were fresh and new. The breakfast was meager and cold, but quite tasty. There was no coffee beans. The hotel has a terrace with beautiful views of the city."
Qibla Tozabog
"This is a good hotel located on the territory of the Khan's dacha. The service and breakfast are both excellent, and there's a shuttle service to and from Itchan Kala. There's a swimming pool, and special extra towels for it are provided at the reception. It's truly oriental beauty! Next to it, the Khan's palace from the early 20th century is being restored, and there's a garden nearby. The only downsides were the lack of housekeeping (I didn't hang the 'make up room' sign) and the noise (from the restaurant and the pool – my room was on the first floor facing the pool, so I didn't get enough sleep either night). Otherwise, there's nothing to complain about. The single room was small but well-equipped for a comfortable overnight stay for a traveler: toothbrush and toothpaste, shower gel and shampoo, slippers, hairdryer, kettle, black and green tea. I booked it on Trip.com four months before my trip at a very attractive price."
Islambek Hotel & Travel ★★
"OK, recommended!"
Darvaza Boutique Hotel Khiva ★★★★
"It's right next to the main entrance of Khiva Old Town, which is super convenient. The shower and air conditioning facilities are quite modern, and the rooms are very clean. The courtyard is charming, and the staff are all very nice. Highly recommended!"
Muso to'ra ★★★
"This hotel is inside the city walls. Being in the room made me feel claustrophobic despite their best efforts with multiple wall hanging etc trying to brighten up this very dark room. There was one small window high above the door and one in the ceiling. The room was entered through a long narrow corridor. Some clients would love this hotel, but it was not for everyone. It was very clean and the bathroom was big and very clean. There was a kettle (no tea or coffee) a fridge and air con. The water pressure very weak. There were good toiletries. There was no water when I returned to my room in the evening, and the water was off again the next morning and during the day. The water in the washbasin and shower was horrible, cloudy and not good quality. The breakfast had a good selection with a hot and cold selection. The staff in the dining area were very grumpy and unhelpful. On the second morning the breakfast was very basic, I was leaving early and they couldn’t be bothered to provide a decent breakfast for those people leaving early. Clearly they didn't want to serve those people leaving early (I only mean 30 mins earlier than the breakfasts normal opening hours!)"
Zukhro Boutique Hotel ★★★
"Stayed here for 1 night. The hotel is in an excellent location to see the sights of the city and plenty of restaurants close by. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. I reached out beforehand to book drivers and guides. The guide they used for the city tour was fantastic. My room was on the second floor. Very quiet and clean. Bed was comfortable as it had a mattress topper. AC worked well. Good hot water and water pressure. The WiFi worked well inside the room and better outside, but good enough to FaceTime and do work stuff online. I would recommend!"
