The Somerville Cumbria Hotel boasts a prime location near Harvard University in Boston, easily accessible on foot or by taxi to the campus and surrounding commercial areas, making it convenient for travelers visiting the campus.
The hotel's overall facilities are average. Rooms are standardly laid out, bedding is clean and tidy, and hot water is readily available, meeting basic accommodation needs. However, the facilities lack any standout features, and some equipment appears somewhat outdated. Compared to hotels in the same price range, the amenities are adequate but unremarkable.
Parking is available, but the $50 per night parking fee is relatively high, increasing the overall cost. Front desk service is responsive, and check-in and check-out are smooth, meeting the standards of a chain hotel. In summary, the hotel's location is its core advantage, but the facilities and parking costs detract from its overall value. It is suitable for travelers with specific location requirements and lower sensitivity to facilities and cost.

The hotel is clean, tidy, and hygienic. The rooms are small but quite practical. The biggest highlight is its proximity to Harvard University. There is no restaurant in the hotel, so everyone makes their own coffee and tea on the first floor.

This hotel offers a standardized, industrialized experience, which I found to be excellent. The shared showers and restrooms, serving four rooms, were continuously cleaned by staff, which was also great. The hotel is a 20-minute walk from the North Station train/bus station, and also a 20-minute walk from Boston Common/the start of the Freedom Trail. Chinatown is a 10-minute walk away. To get to Harvard University, it's a 10-minute walk to the subway station. Remember to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste when staying at hotels in the US. The Revolution Hotel offers great value for money. Also, US hotel prices can fluctuate a lot, so it's important to book at the right time and make a quick decision. Thanks to Trip.com and the supplier. Traveling abroad really makes me appreciate how well Trip.com performs, and it's no easy feat.

The room environment was decent, but it only came with two small bottles of water, and the room itself felt a bit old. There was no breakfast included, so the value for money wasn't great. When we first arrived, the front desk was deserted, and we had to call for someone to come and help us.

Planned early on and booked our exact room type, a two queen studio suite. Price paid room confirmed. Upon check in, front desk says nothing about room change or availability. Entered the room, figured it was a one queen room. Called the front desk, told us our room type was over sold and this was the only room we can get. No apologies, no upgrade, no compensation, no shame. Only solution is “you can talk to the manager tomorrow morning”.
Had to have phone and in-app conversation with our travel agent for 2 hours to finally reach some compromise. And had to stick with the wrong room type.
Facilities are ok. But hotel service is terrible.

I had the pleasure of staying at this brand new hotel, and it truly exceeded expectations. The facility is modern and spotless, but the real highlight is the staff—friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. When I struggled with the coffee machine in my room, someone was there in minutes to guide me through it with a smile.
A special shout-out to Erin, who went above and beyond. Not only did she surprise me for my birthday (such a thoughtful touch!), but she also gave me fantastic local tips and advice. Thanks to her, I discovered Ruka—an amazing restaurant I highly recommend. She also helped me plan my first walk around Harvard Campus, which was a highlight of my trip.
The location is perfect, right next to Harvard Business School with a lovely view. Whether you're here for business or leisure, this hotel offers warmth, efficiency, and a great setting. I’ll definitely be back!

I only stayed one one night but the stay was a good as you can get. Check-in was fast and easy, the room was clean and quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. The room had a new digital thermostat which made adjusting the temp much more precise, which has historically been an issue for me as a business traveler. I'll definitely be back for my next trip to Cambridge.

Amazing
HHui HangWe love this place so much that you will need to come here to experience yourself. Warm hospitality, cozy vibes, free snacks, fruits, tea and coffee and a well functioning kitchen to cook light meals. Quiet neighborhood and lovely view from the window. Bird singing to wake you up and you can chill all day in the house if you don’t have plans lol.
GGuest UserI had a wonderful stay — the room was very clean, comfortable, and well-kept, and I was really impressed by how friendly and helpful the staff were throughout my visit. The location was also excellent, making it easy for me to move around the area and explore nearby attractions without any inconvenience. Overall, it was a pleasant experience!
AAnonymous UserMy first hotel in the US. The front desk service was pretty average, and breakfast was expensive. There was no microwave. The snowy view outside was nice since it's by the river. It's convenient to walk everywhere; you can easily walk to Harvard and MIT. I'd recommend staying here, though I wish the front desk staff were friendlier. Is this just the typical service level in the US?
GGuest UserHotel is conveniently located 5 mins walk from Kendall/MIT MBTA red line station. Note that there is a similar-sounding hotel ”Boston Marriot Cambridge” just above the MBTA station.
Daily breakfast is good with breads, cinnamon rolls, sausages, bacon/ham, cereals, yoghurt and fruits. Room is clean, comfortable with a functional kitchenette, microwave and dishwasher. There was only a saucepan so we requested for pot and sponge to do some light cooking and cleaning. Washing machine and dryer is shared on 2nd floor - pay by credit card. Filtered water is available in the gym. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.
LLamSecond time staying here, quite like the vibe of the hotel. By the river side of Boston river, quite quiet during the day, but also a popular gathering place at night and on weekends. So you get both the quietness and the crowd. The room is decent sizes, nothing to complain about. And the services are also reasonable. Surely would be my choice if I come back to Boston again. Oh forgot to mention, get a river view room, it's surely worth the price difference.

CccydcxhThis hotel meets Marriott's standards, but doesn't offer any particularly outstanding features. Its location is excellent, right next to the MIT station on the Red Line, and there's a Google building nearby. Getting to downtown via the Red Line is very convenient. We arrived by car at 1 AM and valet parking was no longer available. Valet parking costs $62 USD, and we ended up parking in the public parking lot next to the hotel for $52 USD/day. After parking, we used public transportation to visit Boston Common, the Freedom Trail, and Harvard University. We bought a one-day pass for $11 USD, which was quite convenient.
GGuest UserPros: good location close to the MBTA station, free coffee/tea/water, stable Wi-Fi, clean rooms.
Cons: very small and narrow rooms considering the common US hotel standards, no buffet breakfast provided, no gym at the premises (it is located in another hotel nearby though).
AAnonymous UserThe room is really small, the air conditioning is not particularly powerful, see the introduction of the house in the hotel table in 1910, the facilities are indeed old. But the overall feeling is very warm, the front desk people are very nice, the fireplace on the first floor is super warm, coffee, tea, with a thermos cup can also pick up hot water hhhh, hot water party gospel.
GGal RWe had a lovely stay at the Fairfield Cambridge. From the lovely stuff at reception that allowed us to check in early in the morning. The service throughout our stay was excellent with lovely stuff all around.
The location, and the proximity to the subway station I'd a key asset to the property.
