"I initially saw reviews praising the excellent service, and I thought, 'How good can it really be?' Wow, was I surprised! Every staff member at the hotel greeted us warmly whenever they saw us. The glutinous rice pu-erh tea in the lobby is absolutely delicious; I even bought some to take home because I got hooked on it! I didn't arrange for airport pickup in advance – they mentioned it should be done a day prior, which was my oversight – but they still upgraded my room. My luggage was incredibly heavy, and those young ladies insisted on helping me carry it; I honestly felt bad letting them! The hotel amenities were also spotless, even the linen room was neat and tidy. And let's talk about the brunch, folks, you just have to try it! I almost ate myself to death! Next time I'm in Pu'er, I will definitely stay here again; it was completely a hit, no misses!"

All kinds of consumables are complete and updated in a timely manner. There is a faint matcha fragrance in the corridors, which is also very appropriate.

"It's very conveniently located right after exiting the highway. The hotel has underground parking with charging stations. It's about 1.5 kilometers from Daijia Lane, and there's a super delicious and never-queue-bound Lao Cu Niang (Old Vinegar Lady) sour vinegar rice noodle shop at the intersection downstairs.
The rooms, hallways, and public areas were all very clean. There was a washer and dryer, and some nice magazines were available at the restaurant entrance.
The breakfast was incredibly plentiful. The freshly cooked peanut soup with rice noodles was especially delicious, and there was a good variety of fruit, including a huge ginseng fruit."

"The hotel offers pick-up and drop-off services, and the owner personally drove to pick us up, which was very thoughtful and attentive. The front desk staff were also very meticulous and responsive to our requests.
The hotel is located in a residential area, so you don't have to worry about noise. It has its own simple gym, and it's convenient to get anywhere by taxi. The double room we stayed in was spacious enough for three of us. The room also had an island counter, which was perfect for ordering takeout and having a drink in the evening when we were too lazy to go out.
The breakfast is worth mentioning; it's à la carte, which definitely reduces waste. The rice noodles and rice vermicelli we ordered were just as delicious as those from outside restaurants. Thumbs up to the establishment! "

OOlive GohWhen I started planning our itinerary for our 15 day Yunnan holiday, I plotted out our path to go all the way up to Shangri-la, back down to Kunming and then to Jiaozi Snow Mountain and Dongchuan Red Land. Then I chanced upon a video of Aini Garden and fell in love! The only reason we came to Pu'er was to get to Aini. This was the first place I booked, and I really took a chance because it has a no cancellation policy and I really had to stick to the date once it was made.
The initial pre-arrival experience was less than pleasant. I didn't know how we were going to get to the manor and my WeChat messages went unanswered. The hotel we stayed at in Pu'er finally got in touch with someone and got them to message me. I asked how we could get there and the answer was a curt ”take a taxi or charter a car”. No pleasantries of ”we look forward to seeing you” or offering to arrange a car.
When we arrived, no one was at reception and no one came out. Our driver was so perplexed he wondered if we were in the right place and if the place was open. Finally a young girl came out and registered us in. There was an air of aloofness from everyone else. However, once we were checked in, things warmed up quickly. We were offered coffee and freshly cut papaya and had a nice introduction chat with the lady staff.
The bedroom and bathroom is well appointed, spacious and comfortable. We would have enjoyed sitting on the balcony if the chairs were more comfortable. I love the floor to ceiling glass windows but the panel above the door should also be glass (it is just netting) so traffic sounds from the road actually comes through at night. I actually wanted to book the cottage in the hills but opted for the standard room in the main house because I was worried it would be cold. Big regret as it is actually magnificently located with stunning views. However take note that you will need to call for a buggy ride or make a 1km hike every time you want to eat or get to the main house. If you are self driving, no issues as you can park right next to the cottage. Anyway it's a small price to pay for an unlimited view of the milky way and seclusion.
This is as close to a Ryokan experience as you can get in China, minus the hot springs. 3 days 2 nights of blissful, carefree living is not quite enough. They make sure they feed you well, with the freshest produce available for hotpot dinner and home-cooked Yunnanese dishes for lunch. There are so many activities organised, from taking you up the mountain for a glimpse of sunrise (with mountain goats for company ❤️) to coffee plantation education tour to horseback riding along the mountain ridges (the view is spectacular!) to scavenging for wild vegetables and fruits to drinking, dancing and singing around the campfire! So much to do, so little time!
One area of improvement I personally would like to see is the coffee serving. They tend to be quite snobbish about how their coffee is taken. Neat, with nothing else. Asking for sugar or milk feels nearly scorned upon. Coffee is a versatile drink and can be savoured in a huge variety of ways. How else is Starbucks so successful? I felt kind of stifled and deprived because I love a good latte and had looked forward to enjoying an unlimited indulgence of coffee throughout our stay.
Anyhow, I love the ecotourism efforts here. It feels natural and unpretentious. I love the people and the camaraderie they cultivate. I especially enjoyed talking to their consultant 敬梅, a beautiful lady with extensive knowledge in Yunnan culture and ecological progress. Also thank you to 徐芳 for arranging transport back to town and giving helpful recommendations. We hope to return again.

LLiuyulinI compared a few online, and decided on this hotel with the mentality of trying, and exceeded expectations when I arrived at the hotel. First of all, the staff was very good, warm and thoughtful, after opening the door, the room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the sleep was particularly good.
The breakfast is very special and rich, you can experience it.
Especially intimate is that when I checked out, the front desk service was small. I was afraid that the water on the road was not enough. I specially prepared 2 bottles of water for me to drink on the road. Although the water is not worth the money, it is priceless. I will stay here next time I come to Zhenxuan.

I rarely write hotel reviews, but this time, while visiting Pu'er, I stayed at two hotels, and it really highlights how much comparison matters. This was the first one I stayed at, and honestly, I had a feeling the experience wouldn't be great even before arriving.
My booked room supposedly included free airport pickup. I proactively called the front desk to book it in advance. They asked me to add the hotel's WeChat, but their replies were very cold. Regarding the pickup, they said they couldn't come at our arrival time due to a group charter or some other reason, and told us to take a taxi to the hotel, which the front desk would reimburse. I said I understood. However, when we arrived at the hotel in our own taxi, I saw two hotel shuttle vans sitting empty right outside the entrance. Honestly, if they don't want to offer this service, they shouldn't advertise it. To advertise it and then not provide it, based on the front desk's mood, is really baffling.
As for the front desk staff's attitude, it felt lukewarm at best, not particularly professional or enthusiastic. The uncle making noodles at the breakfast restaurant was actually much friendlier. It was a stark contrast to the front desk staff at the next hotel we stayed at, where the young men and women at reception were professional and welcoming. Saying 'home away from home' might be an exaggeration, but at least they made guests feel very comfortable checking in.
Also, the room didn't feel very spacious. Right behind the door, there was a wad of used tissue that hadn't been cleaned up. Overall, aside from the reception attitude (I'm not saying it was outright bad, but for a 300+ RMB per night room, we didn't even hear a 'welcome' or anything similar throughout our stay, so the experience was definitely mediocre) and the airport pickup, which I found subpar, everything else was fine. The hotel's location is good.

AAnqiFacilities: The facilities are relatively new and clean, and there is really no smell of cigarettes. Hot water came quickly.
Hygiene: Very clean, including the sofa and bed flags in the room, the bathroom is also equipped with a disposable toilet.
Breakfast: There are two breakfasts, with local red rice noodles, as well as Western milk bread and cakes. Children under 120 are free.
Praise: I would like to thank the lady at the front desk of the hotel very much. Because I left in a hurry, I forgot to collect the child's teddy bear doll from the quilt when I left. That was my child's Abebei. As mothers know, although it looks like a discarded short-legged teddy bear doll, it is really important to my child. I found it more than 12 hours after leaving the hotel and called the front desk to look for it. When they heard that it was so important to us, they did not perfunctorily deal with it, but kept looking for the cleaning lady and the brother in charge of linens. After three days of non-stop searching, they finally found it in the factory of the linen cleaning company and delivered it back to the lady at the front desk of the hotel in time. After adding WeChat for confirmation, they handed it to the SF Express courier to send it back to us. The child was really happy when she saw her teddy bear was found. We had almost no hope, they were really caring and made our family feel very warm. Recommended to everyone, this is a very warm hotel! I will bring my children and family to stay in this hotel in the future! Thank you!

SSitao 1985I would love to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Old Town of Chama. It may be a little tricky to find at first, but just follow Google Maps and you’ll get there easily. From the main gate of the Old Town, it’s only about a 5-minute walk.
The hotel itself is quite new and very clean. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and the bathroom facilities and appliances are all modern and high-quality. The soundproofing is excellent—although you might hear music and dancing outside, once inside the room it’s perfectly quiet. The location strikes a nice balance: slightly away from the hustle and bustle, yet just a few steps from plenty of food stalls and restaurants.
What really makes this place special is the owners. They are a warm, welcoming family with parents, an elder sister, and two younger brothers. They don’t speak English, but communication was never a problem—we used Google Translate to chat over cups of delicious tea. If you need anything, you can always ask them. They are very friendly and genuinely do their best to help.

CChenjun（manzhenxiaoyuan-chenduonanshanmeisu）®At the Mint House B&B on the banks of the Xima River in Pu'er, I met a rare ”soulful figure” on my journey—the owner, Brother Long. This B&B owner, who spent 20 years in Beijing and was ultimately ”incorporated” into the world of Pu'er coffee, transforms his stay into a heartwarming adventure with his passion and camaraderie.
When I first met Brother Long, he was bending over, adjusting a row of siphon coffee makers, his movements as skilled as a craftsman. The six sets of imported coffee equipment in the shop, the aroma of freshly roasted beans, and the guest messages on the walls covered with coffee filters—all silent declarations of his coffee faith.
Brother Long isn't content with just making a cup of coffee. From hand-drip brewing to cold-drip extraction, he's happy to share his knowledge. One morning, pointing to the Xima River outside the window, he explained the terroir of Pu'er coffee: ”The altitude and the clouds give the beans bright acidity, just like the morning light on this lake—clean and vibrant.” He excels at ”activating” the wild charm of Pu'er coffee with a single touch. When I tried to avoid the tourist routes, he immediately suggested three options: riding a shared electric scooter to explore the Simao Old Street night market, hiking to a lesser-known coffee plantation, and waiting for elephant tracks at the Wild Elephant Valley. **Most unexpectedly, he pulled out a fishing rod and asked, ”Dare to come with me to the Lancang River and be a half-day fisherman?”**
**A Lesson in Fishing on the Lancang River: Casting and Cooking Fish**
The morning drive along the riverbank with Brother Long became the highlight of the trip:
**Wild Fishing Instruction:** He precisely selected a spot in a rocky eddy, demonstrating casting techniques: ”When the current is strong, fish in the shallows; yellow catfish love to hide in the crevices between rocks!” When the girl in our group exclaimed that she had caught a tilapia, he laughed and scooped up the net: ”An extra dish for tonight!”

The toilet seat in the room I live in is going to be separated, and the store needs to repair it. It is more than 300 meters from the parking lot to the inn. When you go out of the inn, walk straight for 100 meters and turn right to see the entrance to the city wall gate of the Tea Horse Road Scenic Area. The Tea Horse Ancient City is very small, a newly built commercial complex. The Tea Horse Ancient Road Scenic Area is behind the ancient city. The one-hour party in the central square of the ancient city is very lively at night.

CChenguanximjFor my trip to Jingmai Mountain this time, I chose to stay in Wengji. I booked Shishi Guesthouse because of its reputation for delicious food, and the overall experience truly exceeded expectations! The guesthouse has a fantastic location with its own courtyard. From the window, you can enjoy stunning views of lush greenery and beautiful sunsets. It has ten rooms in total; the twin rooms are mostly on the first floor (some even come with loungers!), while the double rooms are located on the second floor. The rooms are simply decorated yet cozy and welcoming, which is quite good for a mountain accommodation. The bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring a very peaceful and relaxing stay. The guesthouse owner and staff were incredibly warm, hospitable, and genuine. During the Chinese New Year, they even organized singing performances and outdoor grilling sessions around a fire pit. Most importantly, the food here is delicious! At meal times, the dining area gets packed with outside guests coming specifically to eat. If you're staying at the guesthouse, remember to book your meals in advance. Jingmai Mountain, I'm already looking forward to my next trip!

JJonasWe (2 German travellers) have been in the area of Jingmaishan and wanted to stay a night somewhere. The hotel is about 2 km away from Wengji Ancient Village, that means 30 mins by foot. At first, we wabted to book our hotel directly in the village, but it turns out that booking Diwanara hotel was the best thing that could have happened. The host, who grew up there and is member of the Lahu-Minority is so warm-hearted, he sits in front of his house drinking tea the whole day and we would never leave or come back without being invited to drink some of his homemade tea. He has tea fields 10 mins away from his hotel, and he even took us there to teach us how to collect the tea. Also he cooks breakfast for his guests, which is just delicious. For everybody who, besides the quite commercialised Wengji Village, also wants to have an authentic experience, we can warmly recommend Diwanara hotel.
