"A huge thank you to the hotel's front desk staff and the driver who took me to the station. I realized I'd left my jacket at the hotel only after arriving at the station. With time tight, the driver came up with a solution, and the front desk helped locate the jacket and arranged for its delivery. It was brought to me just before my train departed! The hotel's cleanliness, location, and service are all excellent. It's within walking distance of the Wuyi Bus Station and the night market, and even closer to the Hongfeng Bus Station in Nake. All in all, I was extremely satisfied and will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Pu'er."

"This is the first time I've ever felt compelled to leave a positive review for a hotel! The accommodation was excellent. They offer complimentary drinks and popsicles on the first floor. I was even upgraded to a better room for free, which I really appreciate. The room was fully equipped with Xiao Du smart controls, making everything super convenient. They also provide free late-night snacks, and the reception staff were incredibly thoughtful. When I asked for one late-night snack, they even offered to let me try a variety of options! The bathroom has a great wet/dry separation design, and in addition to regular towels, they also provide disposable towels. For rooms with bathtubs, they even include bath amenities, which is a nice touch. After checking out, I was able to store my luggage and pick it up later when I returned from my errands."

We arrived right around dinner time and they invited us to join them for dinner. The congee they made the next morning was incredibly delicious. We bought some wild mushrooms at the local market, and the owners helped us cook them. It was the best stir-fried 'Jian Shou Qing' I've had in days, and the red mushroom preserves were amazing! It was a very pleasant travel experience, highly recommended."

"Highly recommend! Pu'er Meizi Lake Resort – a perfect vacation cured by breakfast and morning views ✨ Choosing this hotel for our Pu'er getaway was absolutely the right decision! The breakfast and the serene mornings at Meizi Lake were truly the highlights, and I have to praise them individually! **Breakfast was incredibly rich and delicious** 🍜 The buffet breakfast offered an amazing variety, far exceeding expectations. The authentic Pu'er rice noodles had generous toppings, rich broth, and were so good I had them two days in a row without getting tired of them. There were also freshly grilled steaks, pork chops, and bacon, along with hot dishes, congee, pastries, and fresh fruits – catering to both Chinese and Western preferences. I left feeling completely satisfied. The ingredients were carefully selected, and the flavors were spot on – the perfect way to start a beautiful day! **The morning at Meizi Lake was breathtakingly beautiful** 🌫️ Staying by the lake is pure bliss! Opening the window in the morning, Meizi Lake was enveloped in a thin mist, like a flowing ink wash painting. The lake water was emerald green and clear, reflecting the green mountains and blue sky, with golden sunlight piercing through the morning fog. Walking along the 4-kilometer wooden boardwalk by the lake, the air was filled with the fragrance of tea and fresh vegetation, creating a tranquil and healing atmosphere. Every step was a scenic view, and every casual shot looked like a professional photograph. The hotel service was attentive, the room was clean and comfortable, and the electric carts were readily available on call, which was very convenient. Overall, the experience was perfect. This is my top choice for a Pu'er vacation, and I will definitely come again!"

"The hotel is very comfortable, clean and hygienic. There is a sun-bathing table and sun umbrella on the roof. It is very pleasant to drink tea and read a book here. It is also very close to the Xima River to watch the sunset. The suggestion is that the bottom of the room door needs to be added to the shading measures. The light of the aisle will shine in at night. The windows can consider more soundproof measures. I hope it will get better and better!"

"It’s a great B&B. I recommend it to every friend. Even my children expressed their most heartfelt emotions. The only paragraph I wrote during this trip was placed on the bedside. I don’t know if the staff saw it. Thank you very much for upgrading our room type. Since there weren’t many people in the off-season, we were given a free upgrade. I’m very happy. Room facilities: It is very high-end. I stayed in two room types. I think it is not inferior to the configuration of a four-star or five-star hotel. The best thing is that there is a tea table in the room and it is so refreshing to drink your own tea in the room. And the most important decoration is home-like and retro, which makes it a good resting place after tiring travels. My children particularly like the duplex suite, and they don’t want to come out when they stay in it~ breakfast: It is extremely rich and has Yunnan characteristics, such as rice noodles, apples and dates, and sticky porridge, etc. My family’s favorite thing is that when we left on the last day, the B&B gave everyone a souvenir with Yunnan characteristics “a box of Pu’er” Transportation and Parking: Pu'er is not a big place, and it takes about ten minutes to get to Daijia Alley, Tea Horse Road, and Meizi Lake. Free parking is available on the first floor of the B&B, and there are plenty of parking spaces. In the end, the only thing left for such a good B&B is to sincerely wish the owner a prosperous business."

I came from Taiwan on a solo trip after seeing a recommendation on Xiaohongshu. I took a bus from Shaxi to Dali at 9 am, then took the high-speed rail from Dali to Kunming and then to Pu'er. After a long bus ride over mountains, I arrived at the hotel at 8 pm. The warm and comfortable atmosphere of the hotel completely dispelled the hardships of the journey. It was a magical atmosphere. The hotel was very comfortable, and most of the guests were solo female travelers. It was easy to find travel buddies to share meals and make plans to travel to other places next time. Every night, the owner would brew Pu'er tea. I especially liked the unique glutinous rice black tea. While strolling around the hotel, the owner even took me on her little motorcycle to some hidden spots in the mountains to eat, drink, and take photos. In short, it was a wonderful place. When I left, I also took some of my favorite Pu'er tea home to share.

1. Basic room type, no privacy, the window is on the adjacent balcony. It's unbearable to stay in the room unless you draw the curtains. To protect privacy, you have to accept the room having no window. 2. Hotel prices fluctuate wildly. We paid the price of a balcony room for a basic room, and were very unhappy. 3. Don't have high expectations for the hotel's complimentary lunch and dinner. We ate out ourselves, and the food was terrible—very little food, and the dishes weren't clean. 4. The hotel was very crowded. When we checked in, there was a meeting and a wedding banquet. The laundry room was full and unusable, and the parking lot was full; we circled around three times before we could find a parking spot.

Amazing stay! The house is located just outside the village on a quiet road. The rooms are super clean, well equipped, and have air conditioning, which is important in winter. But beyond the house itself, the real highlight is the owner. We shared several tea-drinking sessions where he explained the secrets of Pu’er tea and Bulang traditions and history. Despite the language barrier (we don’t speak Chinese and he doesn’t speak English), he made a huge effort using translator apps, and communication was easy and fun. He is incredibly knowledgeable and kind, we highly recommend spending time drinking tea with him. He also created a WeChat mini-app with guides and information about the area, which we used a lot and found very helpful. Our stay was unforgettable: the Jingmai mountains were the highlight of our trip to China, and we went home with some amazing Pu’er tea and great memories. Looking forward to coming back!

When I started planning our itinerary for our 15 day Yunnan holiday, I plotted out our path to go all the way up to Shangri-la, back down to Kunming and then to Jiaozi Snow Mountain and Dongchuan Red Land. Then I chanced upon a video of Aini Garden and fell in love! The only reason we came to Pu'er was to get to Aini. This was the first place I booked, and I really took a chance because it has a no cancellation policy and I really had to stick to the date once it was made. The initial pre-arrival experience was less than pleasant. I didn't know how we were going to get to the manor and my WeChat messages went unanswered. The hotel we stayed at in Pu'er finally got in touch with someone and got them to message me. I asked how we could get there and the answer was a curt ”take a taxi or charter a car”. No pleasantries of ”we look forward to seeing you” or offering to arrange a car. When we arrived, no one was at reception and no one came out. Our driver was so perplexed he wondered if we were in the right place and if the place was open. Finally a young girl came out and registered us in. There was an air of aloofness from everyone else. However, once we were checked in, things warmed up quickly. We were offered coffee and freshly cut papaya and had a nice introduction chat with the lady staff. The bedroom and bathroom is well appointed, spacious and comfortable. We would have enjoyed sitting on the balcony if the chairs were more comfortable. I love the floor to ceiling glass windows but the panel above the door should also be glass (it is just netting) so traffic sounds from the road actually comes through at night. I actually wanted to book the cottage in the hills but opted for the standard room in the main house because I was worried it would be cold. Big regret as it is actually magnificently located with stunning views. However take note that you will need to call for a buggy ride or make a 1km hike every time you want to eat or get to the main house. If you are self driving, no issues as you can park right next to the cottage. Anyway it's a small price to pay for an unlimited view of the milky way and seclusion. This is as close to a Ryokan experience as you can get in China, minus the hot springs. 3 days 2 nights of blissful, carefree living is not quite enough. They make sure they feed you well, with the freshest produce available for hotpot dinner and home-cooked Yunnanese dishes for lunch. There are so many activities organised, from taking you up the mountain for a glimpse of sunrise (with mountain goats for company ❤️) to coffee plantation education tour to horseback riding along the mountain ridges (the view is spectacular!) to scavenging for wild vegetables and fruits to drinking, dancing and singing around the campfire! So much to do, so little time! One area of improvement I personally would like to see is the coffee serving. They tend to be quite snobbish about how their coffee is taken. Neat, with nothing else. Asking for sugar or milk feels nearly scorned upon. Coffee is a versatile drink and can be savoured in a huge variety of ways. How else is Starbucks so successful? I felt kind of stifled and deprived because I love a good latte and had looked forward to enjoying an unlimited indulgence of coffee throughout our stay. Anyhow, I love the ecotourism efforts here. It feels natural and unpretentious. I love the people and the camaraderie they cultivate. I especially enjoyed talking to their consultant 敬梅, a beautiful lady with extensive knowledge in Yunnan culture and ecological progress. Also thank you to 徐芳 for arranging transport back to town and giving helpful recommendations. We hope to return again.

It's also quite close to the station, and the owner was very prompt with pick-up and drop-off, couldn't ask for more. Definitely a five-star review, highly recommend staying here. The first established hotel as you enter the mountains, with plenty of parking spaces right across the street, which is very convenient. It's a bit far from the attractions, so you'll need a car. They offer butler-style service; they'll contact you the day before to provide the address, travel tips, and other information. The hotel has a good variety of activities planned, including roasted milk tea, stir-fried melon seeds, and bonfires in the evening. The hotel's dinner was just okay, with plenty of room for improvement. Breakfast on the rooftop had a great ambiance and taste. The rooms aren't luxurious but are perfectly adequate. The air conditioning was a bit old and didn't heat very well. I didn't have time to experience the travel photography session. It was really expensive during Chinese New Year, haha.

All the reviews are true, but it’s not the wooden building that causes it.  Yes, it is very loud and you hear everyone. We’ve stayed in other fully wooden places, it’s worse here. Maybe not the wood but the guests are the problem. Loud Chinese people, walking the stairs with the heaviest pace you can imagine. Maybe help the other guests by hanging some warnings on the stairs: please be mindful for the other guests when walking to your room.  Also loud Chinese tourist on the square below. Not only while eating they scream all over the place, also with the tea ceremony nobody asks them to please stop talking after 23:00/24:00. We were up till 02:00AM because of tea drinking Chinese people at the fire. We stayed in the suite, which is located above the fire pit. Maybe the other rooms are less noisy. At 7AM each morning, somebody ran down the stairs. We think it’s the staff. It wakes you up through your earplugs.  The staff is OK. They are very shy, not rude. They could be more pro active though as we didn’t feel like they wanted to do something.. which is different to rude but also not very friendly.  The other villages around are way bigger and less cozy than Wengji. Also, with this guesthouse being just next to the town, it was perfect to escape the tourists most of the time. We didn’t find other accommodations in Wengji with the same aesthetics as Shishi guesthouse so we can’t recommend other places better than this. Maybe if the guesthouse would invest in trying to keep the noise down under the various guests, with text signs or with clearer house rules (fire pit), the noise problem wouldn’t be as bad.  Maybe if they tried to enthusiast their staff more and keep them from watching Chinese drama shows on their phones all day, they would be a bit more welcoming.  We’ve met a lot of amazing people in Wengji, it’s definitely not the locals that have this behaviour.  Lastly, the suite has a cubicle bathroom in the room, they really don’t clean this well. It smells very bad and just feels dirty all over.  For comfort this place is too expensive, for the location and aesthetics you won’t find better options nearby.

Facilities: Squat toilet, please consider carefully if you mind. Cleanliness: Fairly clean, bed is neither too soft nor too hard. Environment: Roads run in front and behind, very poor soundproofing, not recommended for those who don't sleep well. The view from the window is as shown in picture one. Service: The front desk wasn't there when we arrived, so we waited a while. The owner was very welcoming and gave us the fruit shown in picture two. We were originally staying for two days, but because of our sleep problems, the owner readily agreed to let us check out early. Location: Located in Mangjing Shangzhai, very close to Manghong and Wengji Ancient Village. It's a short drive to see the Queen Bee Tree and Princess Banyan.

We (2 German travellers) have been in the area of Jingmaishan and wanted to stay a night somewhere. The hotel is about 2 km away from Wengji Ancient Village, that means 30 mins by foot. At first, we wabted to book our hotel directly in the village, but it turns out that booking Diwanara hotel was the best thing that could have happened. The host, who grew up there and is member of the Lahu-Minority is so warm-hearted, he sits in front of his house drinking tea the whole day and we would never leave or come back without being invited to drink some of his homemade tea. He has tea fields 10 mins away from his hotel, and he even took us there to teach us how to collect the tea. Also he cooks breakfast for his guests, which is just delicious. For everybody who, besides the quite commercialised Wengji Village, also wants to have an authentic experience, we can warmly recommend Diwanara hotel.
